Midoriya Gets Interrogated

Summary:

Lyric: “Like crying out in empty rooms; with no-one there except the moon.”

Midoriya is accused of being the Yuuei Traitor. He isn't, but he's getting arrested anyway.

Prompts:
Journal | Solitary Confinement | “Make it stop.”

Notes:

Day 3!
The classic 'Midoriya likes analysis so he gets accused of being a traitor' type of fic.
I've never written one before, so I figured I might as well get to try it now! :))

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Izuku didn't expect a day that had started so well to end so horribly.

Yes, when he'd woken up this morning his notebooks had been missing. And maybe the teachers had looked a little hesitant when he put his hand up in class to answer.

But his friends had surprised him with the newest All Might merch, and Lunch Rush was serving Katsudon today! He didn't break any bones in Heroics class, and he was even in charge of picking the movie the class was set to watch that evening.

But then the police showed up. Izuku was confused when someone knocked on the doors to the dorms. He'd been even more confused when it turned out to be law enforcement looking for someone. His mind had started going a hundred miles an hour, and the theories and speculations tumbled out of his mouth before he could stop them.

The officers had turned towards him when they heard him, and now Izuku finds himself being harshly shoved into the back of a police cruiser with his hands shackled tightly behind his back. They're Quirk suppressant cuffs, so he doesn't even have the comforting hum of One for All to keep him company on the drive away from Yuuei.

He isn't allowed to speak. He isn't even allowed to move too fast, lest the one in the passenger seat aim his gun back at him.

It isn't much better in the police department. There are none of the friendly faces he recognises here today. Just him and the cruel faces of people who he knows don't care about him.

Izuku is shoved into an interrogation room by himself with orders to stay silent until someone comes to join him. He nods in compliance, the cuffs around his wrists already digging in enough that he knows they mean it.

Being left alone in a room for so long is almost as bad as the drive here. With only himself for company within the sound-proofed walls, Izuku is so so aware of how tight his chest is and how wheezy his breaths are becoming. The tears that fall down his face are silent, but they still make a too-loud noise when they hit the surface of the metal table he's been chained to.

An officer with odd-looking fingertips walks into the room after what feels like forever.

After they begin asking questions though, those odd fingertips press into the flesh of his forearm. The way his nerves sing with each answer he tries to give them makes him wish he was still alone.

Izuku is incoherent and foggy-headed when the officer leaves with an unsatisfied sigh. They tell him they're disappointed in him, and that only makes Izuku feel worse. He's only just aware of the fact that someone new has arrived in the building because of the radio going off that's hooked onto their waistband.

Exhausted, bloody, and missing his family, Izuku's forehead fell against the tear-flooded table with a wet thud.
