Lea and Isa finally get their reunion. No puppet-masters, no fighting. Just them.

Work Text:

Axel--Lea as he keeps insisting, even though it's his own fault his friends and allies remember his other name so well--is crying. There's nothing he can do to stop it at this point, he knows from (past) experience, so he doesn't try. He just wraps his arms harder around his long lost friend, finally returned.

Isa returns the gesture, thankfully, and doesn't even complain at the snot Lea knows he's getting all over his shirt.

"I've missed you," he warbles.

"Lea..."

"Do you know how much cursing I've had to hold back around all these kids?"

"Cursing is a lingual crutch-"

"Fuck you."

Isa huffs, and Lea laughs, and then laughs even harder when Isa makes a disgusted noise at his wet-sounding sniffs.

"Damn, but I really missed you Isa."

"I know," he whispers back, "I missed you too."

"It was... even though you were right there, you weren't." Lea sniffs again, crushing Isa tighter to him when he doesn't answer. "But we'd promised- You. You'd said you'd never leave me."

Because they had sworn. Together. They would work together, whether it was to play, or fight, or sneak into a castle, or take over the Organization. But they'd gotten tangled up in miscommunication, and darkness, and ended up on opposite sides.

Isa unfreezes, squeezing back until they are both barely breathing. "It's alright. I'm here now."

"Yeah." That, Lea thinks, is what matters the most. "Yeah. Me too. And hey, I don't know about you, but I haven't slept right in years."

They pull back, still embracing, but now able to breath, looking each other in the eye. Green. Not bright like Lea's, but Isa's green is a subtle thing, like the way the ocean could catch light. All in all, a far better color than the yellow from before.

"Alright. If you want to laze around-"

"We deserve a break!"

"-then by all means, lead the way."

Lea rolls his eyes, but Isa puts a hand in his, following him trustingly back to the temporary little house Lea is borrowing in Twilight Town. And it feels right, just walking side-by-side. No expectations. No fights. Just both of them together again.

And when they settle in for bed, Isa wrapped around Lea's back, it feels like coming home.

Notes:

It's been a while since I played kh 3 specifically, and I remember being glad almost everyone was alive, but kinda feeling like I was missing some more emotional moments? So here's one. :3
