Wolf looked out of her bedroom window with a sigh. She had planned to go outside and spend her day in the forest, but with the storm that was currently hovering over Las Vistas, going outside was no longer an option.
Wolf was bored. There was nothing for her to do inside the house. A few days prior, Wolf had attempted to practice with her weapon, Crabby. Despite the fact that Las Vistas was safe and she didn't really need a weapon anymore, she didn't want to let it go like she had to do with Stalky. She had been using the livingroom for practice, as she had more room there to move around.
Song had interrupted Wolf's practicing when Wolf accidentally hit a vase and broke it. After that, Song had kept reminding Wolf to play softly inside the house, or she would have to go outside. Wolf didn't want to play softly, she didn't know how. And so, she would spend most of her days outside where she could move freely.
Wolf glared at the storm clouds that were currently pouring rain and covering the ground in puddles. She hated the storm.
Looking at the clouds just made her even more angry at the fact that she wasn't allowed outside, and so, she turned her back on her window and looked around in her room for things to do that could make the time go ever so slightly faster.
Her eyes landed on the stick in the corner of her room by the bed. She had found it in the woods a few days prior, and the way it was shaped like a sword had immediately gained her interest. The sword stick was chubby and uneven. Wolf grinned to herself. If she managed to sneak a knife from the kitchen, maybe she could carve the stick to make it look even better!
With the idea in mind, Wolf slowly opened her door before walking downstairs. Despite her parents being aware of the fact that Wolf could handle sharp weapon perfectly fine, they wouldn't let her use knives unless they were used as cutlery. Why, she had no idea.
Luckily, the kitchen was empty and the coast was clear for Wolf to borrow a knife. She felt a little bit mischeavous for doing something that she wasn't supposed to do. She opened the cupboard where she knew the knives were, and quickly grabbed one that looked sharp enough to carve with.
She hurried back to her room and close the door, hoping that nobody would burst inside and see what she was doing. She picked up her stick and sat down on the floor, starting to carve. It went well at first, and she could see that the stick was slightly resembling a sword. Unfortunately, she misplaced her hand as she started to carve the handle, and the knife cut straight into her hand. Wolf hissed in pain and dropped the knife and the stick on the floor, grabbing her hand. She had cut at least 1 inch of her palm, and it was already bleeding and dripping onto the floor.
Wolf was just about to call for her mom to help her, when she remembered that she was old enough to handle herself.
'You're a big girl, so act like one!' she thought to herself before standing up.
She left her room keeping one hand under her bleeding one to keep herself from bleeding on the floor as she made her way to the bathroom. She hurriedly turned on the faucet to clean her bleeding cut. The sink was colored red and Wolf started to get anxious. It just wouldn't stop bleeding! She grabbed a paper towel to try and put pressure on her wound, but nothing worked. For some reason, she had completely forgotten everything that she'd learned about taking care of herself when she was bleeding. She just felt too panicked!
She was startled when the bathroom door suddenly opened. She had forgotten to lock it. A second later, her mom was standing in the doorway, staring at Wolf and the way she was desperately trying to make her hand stop bleeding so badly.
"What happened!?" Song exclaimed in worry, rushing over to her daughter to examine the wound.
Luckily, Song was a doctor and experienced with taking care of injuries. Wolf just watched on as her mom hurriedly stopped the bleeding. In the end, Song had closed the cut and wrapped Wolf's hand in a bandage.
"Th-thank you..." Wolf mumbled, a small blush appearing on her cheeks.
She had been so stupid. She hadn't been careful enough when she carved, and then she had forgotten how to stop a cut from bleeding. Song bent down to her daughter's height and looked her in the eyes. Wolf gulped, she would have to admit what she had done...
"What happened?" Song asked, just like how she had done when she first found Wolf in the bathroom.
"I... I accidentally cut myself..." Wolf started, hoping to avoid actually answering to the question.
"Cut yourself doing what?" Song continued.
And there went 'trying to avoid the question'.
"Carving a stick..."
"Did you use a knife for that?"
Wolf nodded, feeling shameful for going against her parents' wishes. She now knew why they had told her not to use knives by herself...
"Honey, you know that you're not supposed to use knives without me or Lio watching! This could have gone so much worse!" Song lightly scolded.
"I'm sorry..." Wolf apologized, tearing up slightly.
She just wanted to prove that she was independent. That she could take care of herself. Apparently, she still needed her mom to take care of her for her.
Song saw the hurt in Wolf's eyes and her own softened. She kissed Wolf's forehead reassuringly before helping her daughter stand up.
"I'm not mad at you. Just... Promise that you'll ask me for help when you need it. I don't want you to get hurt," Song asked and Wolf nodded, a small smile appearing on her face.
"I promise, mom."
Song smiled at her daughter before wrapping an arm around her shoulders.
"Let me see what you carved, hm? I bet it has turned out great so far!" Song requested and Wolf nodded.
The words that her mom let out when she laid her eyes on the size of the knife was something that Wolf would never ever mention.
