Work Text:
Jungkook would say he’s learned about more about himself in this year than every other year in his life combined. He’s grown so much as a person thanks to his hyungs, but one hyung in particular has changed his life the most.
Jungkook turns to watch him now, a cute pout of concentration on his face as he tries of fit their sleeping bags into the already packed trunk of his 2001 blue pt cruiser.
Taehyung makes a little trill in triumph and turns to Jungkook with a proud and smug sort of look, gesturing at the packed trunk.
“Doubter.” The elder huffs proudly.
Jungkook tries not to smile, doesn’t want to give him the satisfaction, “Alright you win, but can you close it?” He watches with folded arms as Taehyung frowns at the trunk and sets his shoulders.
When the trunk snaps shut Taehyung gasps out a loud “Ha!” Of victory.
“Ok you did it- but you are out of breath.” Jungkook teases while ducking to avoid what he knows is coming. Sure enough Taehyungs hand whooshes just above his hair, it does hit him the second time around though.
“Not all of of us are built like a klingon!” The boy complains half heartedly.
That was another change that happened in the last year, Jungkook had hit a growth spurt and now was taller than most of his hyungs, that combined with his newfound love for the gym had changed his body quite drastically. His hyungs never failed to teasingly fawn over his strength which made him shyly hide behind Taehyung every time. He now knew Taehyung appreciated it as well, at first the elder hadn’t reacted as much or made any comments like the rest of their friends, and jungkook being notoriously insecure had taken that to mean Taehyung missed his old scrawnier self. It took a week of moping for Jimin to tell him that Taehyung was so embarrassed and overwhelmed that he didn’t know what to say but would rant to Jimin so much that the elder was sick of it.
Jungkook is brought back to the present by the sound of the car door shutting. Taehyung smiled up at him from the passenger seat and jangled the keys, he huffed a laugh and made his way to the front seat.
Keys were pressed into his hand and lips to his cheek as he fastened his seatbelt.
Jungkook felt a blush spread across his face as he turned on the car and backed out of Taehyungs driveway slowly.
He heard Taehyungs signature deep giggle as the elder bounced slightly in his seat, “I texted Jiminie and he says everyone is at the gas station already.”
“That’s good,” Jungkook hummed despite having known that already, he had been the one to remind everyone about sticking to the time schedule last night, he knew how anxious it made Taehyung when things like that were thrown off. “You’re so excited.” He laughed as he saw the elders blue hair bouncing out of the corner of his eye.
“So excited, so excited!” Taehyung echoed. It reminded him of earlier this week while they were shopping for the trip.

“Hyung do you think we’ll need this many lamps?” Jungkook looked apprehensively at their cart which currently held five battery lamps and two large propane lamps.
Taehyung furrowed his brows, “Well yes I like light, I need lots of lights to feel comfortable and we might need a backup and the list says a couple of lamps and we might need one outside.”
As the elder waved the paper around frantically it was then Jungkook realized how anxious his boyfriend was- which meant he was getting overwhelmed and had been for a while now.
“Hey, hey,” Jungkook interrupted while walking up to the elder to start rubbing his arms, “It’s okay, we’re gonna get everything ready on time.”
Almost immediately Taehyungs head slumped against his chest in defeat. Jungkook waited for him to formulate a response while still rubbing up and down his arms.
“I-I’m sorry,” Jungkook didn’t intervene even though he wanted to tell the elder not to apologize, “I just- I like being prepared and having a plan and a back up plan for everything— I think because the trip is something I haven’t done before I’m getting overwhelmed and weird.”
“Not weird.” Jungkook hummed into the newly died hair, a bright blue that complimented Taehyung perfectly.
Taehyung hummed and reached a hand up to slide his fingers into the many rings dangling from Jungkooks ears, a stim both of them enjoyed, but Jungkook knew he was doing it subconsciously which meant it was headphone time. Reaching into the bag in the cart Jungkook grabbed the old painted headphones and slipped them over Taehyungs ears, the tension slowly seeped out of the others shoulders.
“Thanks.” Taehyung whispered while tugging down on his earrings slightly before dropping his hand altogether.
Jungkook sighed and straightened out the crumpled list, “if you are really worried about lights we can bring some fairy lights and my projector light, let’s stick to two lamps for now though.”
Taehyung looked up with wide eyes, mouth in a shocked o, “You’d let me bring your projector light camping?”
Jungkook nodded.
The rest of the shopping trip had gone fairly well and they’d managed to get everything they needed within budget, it wasn’t until later that Taehyung had pulled him aside into a hug to thank him.
“Thanks Jungkookie, I didn’t realize how overstimulated I was, you handled everything really well- you always do.”
That made Jungkooks heart flutter proudly, they both had come a long way in learning how to navigate their relationship- Jungkook tended to stress about knowing how to help the elder perfectly every time. They’d talked about it before and he was still working on letting that go.
Taehyung huffed against his neck and Jungkook screeched as he tried to push a cackling Taehyung away, the elder repeatedly copying Jungkooks screech between giggles

“Taehyung!” Jimin screamed as soon as they were out of the car at the gas station, the two ran to each other like that hadn’t seen each other in years (in reality it had been two days). Jungkook was used to it though and just shook his head while following their group inside to pick out snacks.
A familiar hand clamped down on his shoulder and pulled him into a side hug as he grabbed a faded green shopping basket.
“How are you feeling Kook?” Namjoon yawned. Jungkook internally smiled it his hyung, probably the only one of them who slept peacefully knowing he wouldn’t be driving.
“I’m good hyung, I’m really excited.”
His hair was ruffled as Jin walked up to take Namjoons hand, “Aigoo I’m glad you’re excited.” The elder smiled.
“What time did you guys get back yesterday?” Jungkook made conversation while filling the basket with Dr.Pepper and Chocolate milk.
“Early in the morning, we slept a lot before packing.” Jin hummed. The two of them had gone to Korea together for Jin’s families yearly summer trip to see extended family. Jungkook wanted to go one day as well.
“Glad you slept hyung.” Jungkook hummed, a smile twitching onto his face as Taehyung came barreling around the corner with arms full of sour watermelons and pretzels.
“Hey Tae, how’re you feeling?” Jin asked
Taehyung let the elder squeeze his arm, “I’m excited hyung, can’t wait to camp tonight- there’s gonna be a meteor shower.”
The group had planned on going the the camp during the meteor shower and had listened to many of Taehyungs infodumping rants about the history of meteor showers but their hyungs still smiled as Taehyung started rambling again.
“I’m gonna head to the checkout.” Jungkook informed and Taehyung nodded in acknowledgment but continued to catch up with their hyungs.
Jungkook stretched his legs one last time before getting into the car to embark on the four hour drive that would be taking them to their campsite. Hoseok had picked the place out, relatively cheap when split between seven people and only a five minute walk down to the beach. They’d be doing many things after the camping trip but this was what Jungkook was most exited for, well besides seeing Taehyungs reaction to the observatory.
The elder popped in a Cd he had burned about twenty songs onto for this specific trip. Jungkook didn’t know which songs they were because Taehyung had wanted to surprise him, he felt his boyfriend watching him as the first few notes started to play, and Jungkook smiled softly as they both began humming along to the song, another memory fresh in his mind.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Taehyung had offhandedly mentioned once that he had a playlist of songs about stars but Jungkook took that and ran with it, searching almost daily for new songs about stars or the universe that the elder hadn’t heard yet.
One Friday when Taehyung was gone to visit his grandparents for the weekend Jungkook was in the middle of one such search, a folk sort of tune filtered in from his earbuds and he smiled when he immediately pictured his boyfriends smile. As the song went on Jungkook couldn’t stop smiling and he quickly liked it - Constellations- it was called. He sent a quick text to the elder with the song attached and went to take a shower, not expecting a quick reply knowing he was visiting family.
It wasn’t until Taehyung had retuned Saturday evening that he even responded to the younger, and it wasn’t over text either.
Jungkook had just finished filling up Bams bowl with food when a frantic knock sounded at the front door, stepping carefully over the doberman he stumbled to the door and swung it open to reveal a disheveled looking Taehyung.
“What are-“
“Jungkookie I love it-it’s so perfect!”
Taehyung rushed out as he leapt towards the younger.
Jungkook was so confused, “When did you get back, what’s perfect?”
Taehyung nuzzled into his neck before pulling back, “The song Jungkookie, I love it.” He gushed- the same emotion on his face that he wore when talking about constellations.
Jungkooks mouth formed an o in understanding then he giggled, “Did you really run over here as soon as you got back to tell me in person?”
A flush spread along the elders cheeks and he looked down at the ground “W-well I wasn’t thinking of that I just thought-“ and Jungkook was so,so endeared.
When he started laughing Taehyung joined in.
“Do you want to come in, Bam should be done eating soon.” Jungkook asked once they stopped laughing. At the mention of his dog Taehyung perked up and pushed through the door to run and greet Bam, the dogs tail alreay wagging at the familiar face. Taehyung hugged Bam tightly and let out a happy sigh.
Jungkook rolled his eyes teasingly, “Wow glad to know that you’re with me just for Bam.” He smiled to show he was joking when Taehyung pouted up at him.
Having a sudden idea Jungkook pulled his earbuds from his pocket and held one up to Taehyung, “Do you want to listen to it together?” He asked shyly.
When Taehyung nodded he placed the earbud in the elders left ear and the other in his own right ear and pressed play, the song filled their ears and they slumped against each other just listening until Bam fell asleep on their laps.
Later on when Jungkook parents scolded him for leaving the front door open for so long it was worth it.

It’s very cliche of him but Jungkook is smiling as he rolls the windows down, the setting sun and warm wind seeping into the car as the lo-fi music plays.
He watches as Taehyung sticks his hand out the window to feel the air, moving his arm up and down in slow waves that match the hills of the passing landscape.
They’ve been driving for a few hours now, playlist long over even after being played three times in a row. The couple have been mostly quiet for the better part of ten minutes but it’s a comfortable and warm sort of quiet that has settled simply because they’re tired.
Jungkook checks the gps on his phone and sees they should be at the campsite in fifteen minutes, “Almost there Tae.” He hums breaking the quiet atmosphere.
“Hmm that’s good.” The elder replies while tearing his gaze from the window to stare at Jungkook instead.
The window rolls up and Jungkook huffs a laugh, “I didn’t mean you had to stop.”
“I know.” Taehyung replies. “We should set up our tent first.”
Jungkook nodded in agreement, he didn’t really care what they did first, he wasn’t worried about it either because he knew Taehyung had a list of their order for unpacking. Jungkook was just excited to spend time with all his hyungs together again.
The whole group hadn’t seen Yoongi in a while, the eldest having a new apprenticeship at an actual producing studio. Jungkook was especially excited to catch up with him.
Before that knew it the group caravan was pulling into their campground. The scenery was beautiful, pictures had done it no justice, tall trees surrounded the site and a smattering of wildflowers covered most of the ground. Stepping out of the car the salty smell of sea breeze filled Jungkook nose and he smiled happily- an almost giddy feeling overtaking him as he turned to his boyfriend, the blue haired man currently looking around with a smile big enough to rival his own.
“Hyung it’s so pretty!” Jungkook called out as Hoseok, Jimin, and Yoongi hopped out of their car- the eldest looking like he had just woken up and wasn’t quite processing anything yet.
“I know! I’ve missed coming here- used to with my family when I was little but it’s been a long time.” Hoseok grinned while pushing his sunglasses to rest up on his head.
Namjoon and Jin stumbled out of their own car as well, joining the group around the fire pit in the middle of the campground.
“Alright,” Seokjin announced, “The tournament for who gets to pick their tent spot first starts now!”
Immediately the whole group lifted their fists to begin a round of rock paper scissors. A loud wail came from Seokjin and Jimin as they lost the first round.
“Don’t worry babe I’ve got this.” Namjoon muttered before promptly loosing the second round causing a chain of laughter to burst from everyone else. Yoongi and Jungkook went out next leaving Taehyung and Hoseok to glare down at each other teasingly as the onlookers watched with bated breath.
Jungkook cheered over Hoseoks groan as Taehyung won, the elder practically bouncing over to Jungkook to begin dragging him towards their car,
“C’mon Kookie I need your strong arms to grab the tent for us!” he laughed while dashing forwards.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Jungkook was tired after a long day of driving and unpacking but not enough to tamp out his excitement enough to fall asleep. The blues and purples of his projector light combined with the low warm fairy lights were soothing and he turned his head to the other side of the queen air mattress to see Taehyung watching the lights lazily. Jungkook was so proud of how well the elder had been doing, he seemed so calm and happy out in nature under the stars, the meteor shower had been beautiful but the younger had gotten a little to distracted watching his boyfriend smile and flap his hands happily during the event.
Shuffling a little closer under the blankets Jungkook pressed a kiss to the corner of Taehyungs mouth, catching him off guard.
“Your nose is cold.” The other teasingly complained.
With a grin Jungkook shoved his nose against the column of the elders neck, laughing loudly at his squeal of protest.
“Kookie, no!” Taehyung laughed and tucked himself into a ball underneath Jungkooks chin, and he couldn’t resist placing a soft kiss atop the blue hair.
“Love you hyung.” Jungkook murmured quietly.
Taehyung wrapped his arms around the small waist and shuffled closer, “Mmm love you too Koo.”
They fell asleep slowly while tucked together, it was the most comfortable sleep of Jungkooks life.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
A warm cheek was pressed underneath his chin, sweat sticking their skin together despite how cold the early morning air was. Jungkook groaned as he tried to stretch as best he could with Taehyungs legs tangled with his. A small huff of protest alerted him that his boyfriend was somewhat awake. Jungkook smiled as the elder smacked his lips, blue hair an array of tangles on the pillow.
It was quite peaceful, many different bird calls and chirps filtered through the tent along with the rising sun, and though the air was cool the blankets and Taehyung were warm. Jungkook sighed out sleepily and turned to face his boyfriend. God it was crazy to think that this man was his.
Taehyung had aged so incredibly well over the past year that it wasn’t fair- most of the baby fat finally shedding from his cheeks revealed the sculpted jawline. He had put on some muscle weight from going on runs with Jungkook, he also shot up a few inches making him almost as tall as the younger. In the sunlight his tan skin looked golden, practically glowing. Jungkook sighed again and watched as Taehyungs nose scrunched in displeasure.
“Koo, mornin’ breath.” He whined, snuggling closer anyways and disproving his argument.
Jungkook sucked in a sharp breath as a firmness pressed against his thigh, Taehyung was hard. Slowly as to not startle the elder he pressed his thigh up and brought an arm up to rub circles into his back.
Taehyungs eyes fully opened then and he froze while looking up at Jungkook as if asking if this was okay.
Jungkook melted at the gesture and nodded affirmingly, “Go on hyung, make yourself feel good.”
As a blush and a smile spread across Taehyungs face Jungkook was reminded of another memory, back when intamacy was a messy topic between the two.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Jungkook let out a small whine as Taehyung climbed onto his lap, not once breaking their kiss. It was almost dark in Taehyungs room save his fairy lights that were constantly glowing a warm yellow.
They had made out a few times before but this felt different. Jungkook felt a knot of nervousness and something he didn’t know coil in his stomach. He pushed the feeling aside. C’mon focus on your boyfriend, you love him this should feel good, he scolded himself.
The feeling became almost nauseating, Taehyung probably thought his heart was beating fast from arousal but in reality he was scared. Jungkook tried to ignore the feeling as best he could but the moment two warm hands were shoved beneath his shirt he pulled back- an ice cold feeling rushed through his veins and he pushed the elder off his lap and onto the bed.
“I-I’m sorry.” He rushed out. Taehyung was staring at him with confusion, the elder pushed himself up and reached out.
“It’s okay was this too fast?” Taehyung tilted his head in confusion.
Fuck, Taehyung probably felt bad, Jungkook was wrong, he was all wrong, making out with his boyfriend should get him turned on not make him panic. Belatedly he realized he was crying- embarrassment flooded him again and he turned without another look and ran.
Once home, Jungkook sat on his bed after showering to clear his mind and stared at his phone, message after message lit up the screen, most likely from the one person he didn’t want to face.
What was wrong with him? He shouldn’t have left Taehyung like that, he shouldn’t have felt that way at all, he was no stranger to touching himself so why was touching his boyfriend any different? They both were inexperienced in regard to being in a relationship so that should’ve provided some sense of comfort right?
The hurt look in Taehyungs eyes as he ran away flashed across his vision again, that seemed to be the final straw and he found himself crying again. Hot tears slowly dripping onto his knees where he was clutching them to his chest.
In a moment of panic he snatched his phone from his pillow, ignoring Taehyungs messages and bypassing his contact as he scrolled to the name of his hyung- the one who could make sense of everything swirling around in his head.
By the third ring a raspy voice was answering “Hello?”
“Yoongi hyung!” Jungkook all but sobbed into the phone.
“Kid? Jungkook what’s wrong do you need me to come get you?” The elder sounded very much awake now.
Jungkook sniffed loudly and nodded, “Please hyung, don’t know what’s wrong with me.”
Fifteen minutes later had a red faced Jungkook stepping out of Yoongi’s truck and into his apartment. He felt the elder brush past him as he slipped off his shoes slowly. By the time he stood to follow, a cup of water was being pressed into his hands.
“Thanks hyung.” Jungkook whispered before taking a few sips. The icy water made him relax a bit and he sipped more while following Yoongi to his room, careful to step over the pillows and papers that were scattered on the floor.
The two boys sank onto the gray mattress and Jungkook was grateful that Yoongi let him sit in a comfortable scilence for a minute to collect his thoughts.
The empty water was taken from his hands and placed on the nightstand. “What’s wrong kiddo?” Yoongi softly pried.
Jungkook looked up as the threat of tears stung behind his red eyes once again. “I-I don’t know what’s wrong with me hyung,” He heaved, “Something happened when I was with Tae.”
Jungkook paused as a flush of embarrassment crawled up his neck- “Tae and I have made out a few times ya know.” He stuttered out, grateful again that Yoongi was sat quietly just waiting until he was finished. “Neither of us have actually gone all the way before so I should’ve been more comfortable- I-“ Jungkook looked down at his hands and took a shaky breath.
“When we were making out this time I felt different, I could tell he wanted more but I felt queasy and scared and then I started crying and ran away when it got too much, now Taehyung thinks he did something wrong but it’s all me hyung, I’m the one who’s wrong- m’all wrong.” He cried.
After a few moments Jungkook felt his head being pulled to rest on Yoongi’s shoulder.
“I want you to listen until I’m done okay?” Yoongi whispered. Once Jungkook nodded the elder sighed and began running his fingers through Jungkooks dark hair.
“I never thought about sex until I was put in the position to have it. I didn’t realize how different that was from everyone else until I heard people in college talking about their experiences. I didn’t watch porn because I didn’t feel that desire, I never really jerked off because I never felt like I had to- I mean I liked guys and girls but never sexually.” There was a pause as Yoongi decided on how to best word his thoughts, “The first time I tried to have sex I had a panic attack.”
Jungkook opened his mouth but closed it just as quick when he remembered Yoongi’s request.
“I wasn’t aroused- I didn’t want sex. I still don’t and I don’t think I ever will- I’m asexual Jungkook.” Jungkook tilted his head slightly in confusion, wrinkling the now damp shirt sleeve.
“It means I don’t feel sexual attraction- I want romance and kisses and a partner but, sex isn’t in the picture for me at all. Some people like me are sex repulsed which means we won’t ever in anyway want sex. Other asexuals can want to help their partner, they don’t mind having sex because to them even though they don’t feel sexual attraction they like to help their partner feel good.” Yoongi swallowed, “Look I’m not the best at explaining it but there’s are so many sources on the internet and in books-“
“No that makes sense hyung.” Jungkook mumbled while lifting his head to whipe at his eyes.
Yoongi smiled and shook his head, “Brat- I told you not to interrupt me.”
Jungkook thought on what his hyung had said, some parts aligned with how he felt deep inside but not fully, “I hmm-” Jungkook furrowed his brow, “I think I would like to help Taehyung- I don’t um- I don’t have trouble touching myself.” He admitted shyly. “I love Taehyung and he makes me feel like I never have before- I don’t usually find people ‘sexy’ I guess.”
Jungkook paused to gather his thoughts and Yoongi nodded encouragingly.
“I guess feeling aroused from another person caught me off guard? I love Tae and I’d do anything for him but I don’t think I’d want that with anybody else ever.”
Yoongi hummed and pulled out his phone to search something up, “Sounds like you might be Demisexual? I mean don’t let me decide how you identify but this sounds like it might be helpful.”
The elder turned his phone screen to Jungkook who read the description there-
Demisexuality is a sexual orientation in which an individual does not experience primary sexual attraction – the type of attraction that is based on immediately observable characteristics such as appearance or smell and is experienced immediately after a first encounter. Rather after forming a long lasting romantic relationship sexual attraction can and tends to appear.
Oh.
Oh.
Things began to click into place.
Fuck, he was fine, he wasn’t wrong.
Neither was Yoongi.
There were people like him.
This feeling was new and scary but he could explain it now.
Fuck…
Taehyung.
He needed to talk to Taehyung.
Jungkook surged forward and hugged Yoongi tightly. “Thanks hyung.” He breathed into the long black hair.
“Of course- you can talk to me anytime okay?” Jungkook nodded. “And don’t wait until you have a mental breakdown to visit me.” Yoongi teased. Jungkook huffed a laugh.
“Will drive me to Taehyungs please?”
Yoongi rolled his eyes but stood to grab his keys off of the dresser.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Standing outside Taehyungs front door Jungkook shuffled nervously, maybe he should’ve texted the elder back to warn him. The doorknob twisted and Jungkook swallowed thickly.
“Jungkook?” Taehyung looked surprised and relieved all at once.
“Can we talk hyung?” The younger shyly whispered into the stagnant air between them. He let out a breath of relief when Taehyung nodded and turned back into the house to lead him to his room.
Taehyung sat on his bed and gestured for Jungkook to sit as well but he shook his head and stood awkwardly before him, leaning his weight from foot to foot. “I’m so sorry Tae!” He blurted out all at once.
Taehyung raised his brows in surprise, “What no, I’m sorry.” The elder grabbed his hand hesitantly and loosely, carefully trying not to set the younger off again.
Jungkook felt guilty and warm with affection at the same time and he tightened his grip in the hope to be reassuring.
“I have to tell you something about me that I’m still figuring out?” His explanation coming out as more of a question.
Taehyung seemed to relax a bit, “It’s not me?” He questioned, shoulders slumping.
“What?!” Jungkook looked into the elders nervous eyes, “Of course not hyung!” He protested.
Taehyung started to fidget, “I- I thought it was because….” He trailed off but the unspoken made a light bulb go off in the younger mans head.
“No.” He replied firmly while finally sitting down next to the elder with their hands still clasped, “Hyung it wasn’t because of you- it will never be because that- that thought never even crossed my mind I promise.”
Taehyung nodded and started picking at Jungkooks fingers. Jungkook took that as a sign to start talking.
Letting out a nervous breath Jungkook began explaining, “I think I’m demisexual?” A pause as he shifted to face the elder, “I’ve never really felt sexual attraction to someone before now- it caught me off guard and scared me. Yoongi hyung helped explain it but basically I have to have a strong romantic bond before I want to have sex, and you are my first relationship so these feelings are new. I do want to go all the way with you eventually but I think I want to take it really slow, if that’s ok.”
Jungkook waited, looking down at the navy blue sheets while he let his boyfriend process everything.
“To be honest,” Taehyung clicked his tongue and looked at their clasped hands, “I think I want to take it slow too. And thank you for telling me that you’re Demi- I kinda know about that topic due to Yoongi hyung- but…” Taehyung looked up with watery eyes, “Please next time don’t run out on me Kook, I don’t know how to tell what you’re feeling and I was so worried-“
Jungkook cut him off with a tight hug, “I’m sorry Tae, promise I’ll communicate better okay?” The elder nodded against his cheek.
They stayed like that for a while, hugging and murmuring apologies and ‘I love you’s to each other.
And taken it slow they had, there were a few bumps in the road and many learning curves, but they learned to communicate better and had gotten to a place they were both comfortable with. They loved each other and that was never going to change.

Hoseok whined as he batted bugs away from his head, “Jiminie save me!” He cried out.
The shorter man stood on his toes and spread his arms wide as his boyfriend ducked under his chin. Jimin began windmilling his arms wildly, creating a funny picture that had Jungkook giggling around his cereal.
“Maybe you shouldn’t have picked camping if you hated bugs.” An unbothered Yoongi pointed out while pouring himself a bowl of frosted flakes.
Hoseok pouted from his place against Jimins chest, “Maybe you shouldn’t be such a jerk!” He shot back.
“Gottem.” Jin hummed sarcastically.
The group had begun packing today for their next location, the observatory. Jungkook couldn’t wait to see the look on Taehyung’s face when he found out, as far as the elder knew they were going to visit a popular hiking area.
Jungkook spun around looking for Taehyung in confusion but the blue head of hair was nowhere to be seen.
“Where’s Tae?” Jungkook wondered aloud. All of their stuff- though it had taken way too long- was now back it the cruiser and it was nearing time to leave.
Jin jerked his head toward the edge of the clearing, “He’s talking with Joon about something ‘top secret’.” His hyung rolled his eyes. “Apparently it couldn’t wait.”
Jungkook let out a breath of relief. “Okay, I was worried he was getting anxious about leaving.”
Jimin smiled at him slyly, “Hmm, so when are you gonna tell him about the observatory Kook?”
“Probably in the car, I want to give him a fair amount of time to process going to an unexpected location.” Jungkook replied.
Jimins gaze softened to a more appreciative look, “I’m really glad you found each other, you’re so good for him Jungkookie.”
Jungkook blushed brightly and brought a hand up to scratch at his ear, “Thanks Minnie.”
“What did you say to fluster my boyfriend Park Jimin!” Taehyung teasingly hollered as him and Namjoon trodded back towards the cars.
“Wouldn’t you like to know!” Jimin hollered back, full teasing mode again. Even though the moment was brief, Jungkooks heart was warm and filled with pride, he let that feeling stay with him as he tugged Taehyung into a side hug once he was within distance.
“Alright,” Yoongi called from the front seat of his truck, “Let’s get this show on the road, we have to be out of here by two!”
Hoseok rolled his eyes fondly, “We’re coming Yoongles!”
Jungkook laughed at the sounds of protest from their eldest hyung at the nickname. He tuned out the bickering thought and turned to face Taehyung with a warm smile on his face that mirrored his boyfriends own, “Ready? I gotta surprise for you in the car.”
Taehyung perked up at that, “Yeah, me too.”
“What?” Jungkook chuckled as the elder ran to the passenger seat, he jogged after him with a grin.
Taehyung shut the door before Jungkook got to him and stuck his tongue out teasingly. Jungkook shook his head but walked around to the drivers seat so he could poke at his boyfriend incessantly.
“You have to tell me first,” Jungkook practically whined.
Taehyung batted his hand away with a giggle, “Nope you said you had one first, obey the sacred rules Jungkookie.”
“Rules aren’t sacred if you’re the one who made them up.” Jungkook rolled his eyes as he it the car in drive, waiting to pull out last so he could follow Yoongi.
“I am shocked,” Taehyung gasped dramatically, “We both know the rules are all binding- it’s written in the stars that you must obey them.”
Jungkook smiled fondly and reached over to tap Taehyungs nose, “Calm down your majesty, I’ll go first.”
Taehyung hummed triumphantly, “Go on.” He urged.
“We aren’t going hiking this evening,” Jungkook adjusted his grip on the steering wheel and licked his lips, “We’re going to and observatory.”
Jungkook watched with bated breath as Taehyung’s mouth dropped in shock. The elder sat there staring at him for a full minute before screeching excitedly,
“Are you serious?”
Jungkook nodded.
“Oh my gosh I love you!” Taehyung squealed as his hands started flapping. Jungkook grinned widely as Taehyung practically vibrated in his seat. “I can’t believe you guys kept this from me- Oh I’m so so so excited!”
“Surprise!” Jungkook joked. Then to his surprise Taehyung leaned forward into the youngers seat and pressed a firm kiss to his lips.
“Thank you Jungkook.” Taehyung sighed happily after he had calmed down and was back in his own seat.
Jungkook nodded shyly, “Now you.” He prompted.
“Hmm?”
Jungkook huffed playfully, “Your surprise.”
“Oh!” Taehyung lit up in realization and bent over to rummage in the bag at his feet, an Apollo 11 tote Jungkook bought him for his birthday, and produced a Cd.
“It’s- well Joonie helped me a lot buts it’s-“
Taehyung looked down shyly, “I made this for you.” He opened the case gently and slipped it into the player.
Jungkook waited in anticipation until a few familiar notes graced his ears- it wasn’t until he heard Taehyung’s own voice filtering bc through the speakers that he understood what was happening.”
“I can feel it on my tongue
Brick and mortar, thick as scripture
Drawing lines in the sand and laying borders as tall as towers
I babble on until my voice is go”
His deep honey voice filled the car. By the time the song faded out Jungkook was crying, “Hyung-“
Taehyung turned to him in shock and quickly wiped the tears away, “Good tears?” He inquired in a whisper.
“Good tears.”
Jungkook slowed the car to pull off towards the side of the road. He unbuckled his seatbelt and stretched across the dash, pulling a confused Taehyung into a tight hug.
“I love you so much Tae.” Jungkook exhaled, not caring how his damp cheeks stuck to the others skin.
Taehyung hugged him back with closed eyes, feeling a bit misty eyed himself though he didn’t quite know why, “ Love you too Koo.”
“I think you beat me for best surprise.” Jungkook laughed as they pulled themselves apart from the hug.
Taehyung shook his head, “No, we’re even.”

Nobody mentioned the fact that the couple had arrived at least ten minutes after everyone else, maybe they noticed their red rimmed eyes and decided against teasing remarks for now.
Taehyung bounced happily in place as they scanned their tickets to get inside the large domed building, luckily it was nightfall by the time they reached it.
The observatory had five different telescopes, all easily larger than a car, and Taehyung was facinated the entire duration of the tour and demonstration.
When it finally arrived time to stargaze themselves Taehyung stepped up shakily to the telescope, the guide had adjusted the view and stepped away to help the other members of the group adjust their own telescopes.
Jungkook heard a familiar happy trill as he watched the back of Taehyung’s blue hair, matching chipped blue nails gripping the viewfinder tightly. Jungkook took his free hand into his own, “What do you see?” He breathed quietly into his ear.
“Oh Jungkook, it’s- you’ll never believe this.” Taehyung turned towards the younger with watery eyes, taking his other hand as well, “The first thing I saw were Vega and Altair the-“
“The lovers.” Jungkook finished in a whisper.
Taehyung nodded and urged him to look through the telescope.
A vivid galaxy filled his view, bursting with color and light, and in the center of it all two bright stars that made up part of the Summer Triangle that Taehyung so loved.
“It’s so pretty.” Jungkook gasped in awe, leaning back to let Taehyung take his place.
To his surprise the elder reached up to cup his jaw with both hands and pull him into a soft kiss. They then stood with foreheads pressed together, breathing the same air.
“My Jungkookie, my Altair.”
Jungkook smiled, “Guess that makes you my Vega huh?”
Taehyung giggled before turning back towards the telescope in excitement, “Do you think we’ll see Venus at all tonight?” Jungkook listened to his hyung ramble as they moved from telescope to telescope- and if he only got to see the view for a few minutes he didn’t mind- he was rather content with the view right in front of him here on earth.
