Work Text:
Poetry is a form of light and flight
And so would loving all of me be
Autumn’s budding epiphany
Seeds planted into dreams that night
Dark clouds behind a smiling mask
Taken off, a real me revealed at last
I wanna love, wanna fall
For curves of penmanship
Shining, filling the empty hall
For curves of legs and hips
Glowing with pride and strength
For the other end of my red string
Where I think I’ll find
Those who were left behind
You and me and her
From yesterday to today and tomorrow
For once in my life
I wanna get to choose
Love I saw you give yourself
Had me starting to give myself
A spark and inspiration you lit in me
Warmth thawing snow
Awakening a new verse
Bringing spring back home
I wanna love, wanna fall
For lips pink like blossoms
Wrapping around words found blind
Blooming in the heart and mind
For the canvas of my back, full of scars
Galaxies and midnight skies, filled with stars
For the belt of lightning, running across it all
Poetry is a form of light and flight
So would loving all of me be
A shower of stories yet to be told
Of songs and poems shaped like wings
Love and verses with new beginnings
Soaring away to places untold
