Spider-Man & Venom: A Different Way of Finding Out

Summary:

Just a little gift to my friend, XVDragon, and their series, A Different Way of Finding Out.
Spider-Man & Venom fall into Earth-814762C, smack-dabbed in the middle of the Goblin War.
Chaos follows as the Web Warriors and Avengers figure out who they are, all while the native Peter Parker stands by the sidelines.
I did my best to format this fic into their style.
I hope you love it!

Chapter Text

"Alright, people. We need to talk about how to handle Spider-Man," Tony recalls as he puts on a display of Kamalas' ex-friend Peter Parker, the jerk, while everyone else takes their seats to discuss the major problem.

Kamala has been getting messages from "good-old" Spidey, but she just kept ignoring them because she did not want even to hear his voice after what happened with M.O.D.O.K. But, deep down, she wanted him to tell her those messages in person.

"Well, Tony, there's not much to say. The kid is capable enough to defeat a good portion of us. We might need to launch a massive strike to subdue him," Captain American muses, right before a red-and-blue blur lands on the table, breaking it into two.

The smoke clears to reveal Spider-Man in a shiny new red and blue suit with a web cape. Seriously? A cape? Well, Kamala guesses it just makes the suit cooler. She should get a cape...Wait, hold on a second!

"What are you doing here, Spider-Jerk?!" Kamala shouts in a raging fury. Was the jerk spying on them so he could steal the spotlight? How dare he?! How did he even sneak into the Avengers Tower, anyway?!

"'Spider-Jerk?' That's a new one," Spider-Man says softly, clearly ignoring the situation he's in. First, he calls them his minions and himself Superior to everyone else. Now he doesn't even see them as a threat?!

"Why, you jerk of a friend?!" Kamala angrily shouts as she Embiggens her fists before smashing them on the table, while Spider-Man gracefully dodges that attack in a playful style. He then fires webs that shock Ms. Marvel before he spins and slams her vertically.

"Geez, now you guys try to kill me? And that was a sloppy strike. Even Hulk could have seen that coming," Spider-Man expertly criticized the predictable attack, much to the dismay of every other Avenger, except for Hulk, who said, "The kid's not wrong."

"What, pajamas? Are you just saying that so you could prove you're superior to us?" Iron Man grumbles before seeing that Spider-Man clenches his fists when he says "superior" and leaps on him, tearing his armor like paper.

"Wait, what are you doing?! No! Ah!" Tony shrieks while being stripped from his armor, before Spider-Man headbutts him and knocks him out, much to the horror of the other Avengers of how Spider-Man decommissioned Iron Man so easily.

"Alright then. No more playing around. Time to get serious," Spider-Man grimly says, preparing to fight the others. The Avengers had nervous looks before they charged at the lone hero. Surely, he can't take them all on, right?

-

Peter was walking towards home. How Octavius didn't ruin his relationship with his Aunt May is a miracle. She is probably the most important person in his life. He should spend more time with her.

Suddenly, one of Otto's Spider-Bots flew to him, with Otto's voice bright as day. It has been a while since Otto agreed to join forces with the young teenager, but Peter was a hero who gave second chances. And Otto has been helpful these past few days.

"Parker! We got a problem!" Otto shouts in a desperate voice. Oh no. That means a really big problem if Otto is panicking. Calm down, Peter. Think about what you say maturely.

"Judging by the panic, I'm going with it being a really big problem," Peter sighs. Nothing is too short about his luck these days. Maybe he should nickname it. Like Spider's Luck or something. "Show me what's happening."

The Spider-Drone displays a holographic recording, showing something landing on his house. Something black with teeth visible. Peter pales. Only one person, or should he say, thing would look like that.

"Venom," Peter realized in fright. The symbiote that Horizon High was experimenting on. Pretending to be a new suit, slowly corrupting him until he took it off. His rival, Eddie, came to a position with it and became a monster who hunted him down.

Peter runs to his home. He has to make sure Aunt May is safe!

As he opened his front door, the sight beheld him and left him gawking. Venom was...having a peaceful lunch with May? Venom and his aunt look at him and wave. Venom then took another bite of his lasagna.

"Oh, Peter! You're just in time to join me and Mr. Venom for lunch!" Aunt May cheerily says as she takes out another seat. Peter began sitting on the table before his aunt left for the kitchen. "Oh, my pie is ready."

Venom smiles cheekily with his many teeth in enthusiasm. What happened to him? Where's the Venom who wanted to ruin his life? Why was he acting so goofy? How is his aunt just fine with them here? Did she not read the news?

Peter may need to find questions when he's not near his parasitic enemy.

-

To say this was easy was a lie. For the Avengers. Seriously, Spider-Man has fought and teamed up with more experienced versions of them. It really wasn't that hard. Sure, it wasn't the first time he dealt alternate versions of his friends and some others *cough*Stark*cough*, but this was just pathetic! And he doesn't even use that word often!

He feels bullets bouncing off of him and webs the twin pistols from Black Widow. He then deploys his Spider-Arms to counter a Widow Bite before tossing her aside with great speed and trapping her in webbing.

Captain America charges at him with a shield bash, but Spider-Man stops it with one hand before using his sticky fingers to rip off the Captain's shield and slam his face with it into unconsciousness.

Thor fires lightning at Spider-Man, but the suit absorbs it before rapidly punching the Avenger's exposed face. He resorts to activating the Brain Control Override to paralyze the Asgardian God of Thunder.

Hulk grabs the Spider's head before slamming him into the ground. Owie! Spider-Man recovers and uses all his strength to uppercut Hulk into the air before hanging the gamma beast with concrete webbing.

Spider-Man then hangs upside down to see the defeated Avengers before him. He smiles underneath the mask. J.J. was having a field day about Spider-Man defeating the Avengers by himself. He turns his head to what he suspected but doesn't want to believe. The Superior Spider-Man.

The other him was a kid. A kid! And Otto just mind-swapped with him! Spider-Man searched Otto and, to his relief, found out that Octavius was still an eighteen-year-old. Okay, awkward situation aborted. He turns to the Avengers.

"Well, this was fun and all, but I need to get going before my aunt freaks out," Spider-Man lies. What? If the Avengers are going to mistake him for his native self here, why not have a little fun with mind games? It was going to be fun, he promised!

Spider-Man then jumps out of Avengers Tower, with glass breaking and falling everywhere. The conscious Avengers looked at the Spider-Man-shaped hole in the window. How did a high schooler beat them? And why did he search for Otto Octavius?

-

Peter sat awkwardly with May and Venom chatting about the importance of exercise. Never in his life would he believe that Venom could be so civilized. He should probably go to his room before he does something to ruin Venom's happy mood and face the consequences.

"I need to go to my room, Aunt May. I'm preparing for Horizon High stuff," Peter excuses himself. May and Venom didn't seem bothered by it, with May saying, "Alright, dear! Don't overwork yourself!"

As Peter leaves, Venom webs a nearby Spider-Drone.

"Thank you for your time, Mrs. Parker, but we need to go," Venom thanks this reality's May Parker. No matter what, May was always the kindest soul on the planet. Probably to the entire reality itself.

"Of course, Edward. Please give this to Peter. And tell him even if he's from a different universe, he's still my nephew," May Parker sternly says as she gives Venom a packaged lunch and a photo of her and Ben Parker. "He needs something to remember his aunt and uncle by."

"Of course," Venom says as he takes the gifts and web swings out of the house before turning invisible, playing messenger for his reality's Peter.

-

"...And those Avengers better think twice before they decide to mess with New York's true hero!" J. Jonah Jameson retorts.

"Ah, J.J. slandering people. Bring back memories," Peter says as swings across the streets of New York. He was starting to forget how the place looked like in his reality. So many friends he left behind to save the world. He wishes Cass was here to see this, even if it wasn't his reality.

"Hey, Spider!" shouts a vicious but goofy partner of his, who was apparently also here. Venom was carrying a bag, swinging next to the Spider-Totem. "I got a package for you! But you need to catch us first!"

Venom swings away from Spider-Man, with the red and blue hero hot in their trail.

"Parker hates it when we get the drop on him."

"Oh, I hate it when they get the drop on me!"

-

After a quick race across New York, Spider-Man and Venom sat on the top of the Empire State Building. Venom gives Peter the bag, revealing a homemade meal and a photo of this reality's May and Ben.

"Said to have something to remember your people by, and that, even from another universe, you're still her nephew," Eddie softly explains. He sees Peter tearing up before looking at Eddie with a smile on his face. "Thank you," he said in a shaky voice. Eddie nods to him before pulling him into a hug.
