BREAKING NEWS: AFC Richmond football star Jamie Tartt has been cast as the first bisexual Bachelor

Long time fans of the Bachelor franchise know it’s lots of things—but progressive certainly never has been one of them. Its format tends to lean towards both sexism and heteronormativity as contestants on the show are forced to go on demeaning dates and get into fights over one man. However, ABC shocked the nation this morning with the news that Jamie Tartt, AFC Richmond’s franchise player, would headline as the show’s first bisexual Bachelor.
That’s right everyone, you did read that right—for the first time in Bachelor history, the show will feature both men and women in the dating pool. ABC has yet to introduce the lineup of the contestants, but we can only assume there will be an equal number—at least to start—of men and women on the show.
Fans of both the show and football were rocked again when ABC announced that Chris Harrison would not be hosting the season, but instead it will be hosted by AFC Richmond coach Ted Lasso. The network has made no comment on why this switch occurred, but has made it clear that this will be special for Jamie’s season only.
And football fans, don’t worry. The filming of the show is set to take place entirely during the off-season, with the initial filming location in Essex. Long time fans of the show always expect the season to kick off at the iconic Bachelor mansion in Los Angeles, California. But since their leading man is British, the show’s filming will occur in England. At this time, we can also assume contestants on the show will also be from the UK, although this is only speculation. It is unknown at this time where else filming will occur.
Reception of the news by Bachelor fans has been generally positive. People commend the show for the steps they are taking towards progressiveness, and the fact that they picked such a fine looking Bachelor doesn’t hurt!

Football and Bisexuality: Week Two of the Bachelor brought surprising conversations and some excellent football

The Bachelor is not known for its deep, genuine conversations. However, bisexual Bachelor Jamie Tartt really set the tone for his season by having an open, honest talk about bisexuality in sports with Roy Kent. Their talk was shockingly candid, and brought tears to the eyes of several viewers. If you’re reading this, Roy and Jamie, we are proud of YOU!
When Jamie Tartt first came out as bisexual last year, it was to a wide array of responses. Those close to him and the club were incredibly supportive–AFC Richmond itself came out with a staunch statement of support for the striker. However, Tartt faced severe backlash from many in the football world. Many fans considered him “unfit” to play the sport due to his sexuality. Tartt of course took this as a challenge, and since coming out he has played flawless game after flawless game. Take that, haters!
I have to admit, there was not a dry eye in my house when Roy admitted that he was jealous of Jamie getting to come out when that was something he had wanted in his own career. And then, the soft admission that even though he wished he could have done it, that Roy was proud of Jamie? This is the best, most honest conversation we have seen on the show in a long, long time.
Aside from their emotional connection, Roy and Jamie were joined by several of Jamie’s AFC Richmond teammates to play a friendly game of football. Football fans across the globe got a real and genuine treat–a chance to see Roy Kent back on the field for the first time since his retirement. While he and Jamie ultimately managed to end their short game against each other in a tie, it’s safe to say we are rooting for all of their future games to come.

Romance in Amsterdam: What happened on the mysterious date between Jamie Tartt and Roy Kent on last night’s episode of the Bachelor?

Well, Bachelor fans, it’s finally here. Since week one, Roy Kent has been a frontrunner on Jamie Tartt’s season of the Bachelor. While the football legend has kept his cards close to his chest, it’s been clear to viewers everywhere that both he and Jamie are starting to fall for one another. Just last week, we saw them share their first kiss after Jamie sent home another contestant for telling him that Roy was a walking red flag. Which, c’mon Jamie. Jesse was totally right!!!! Doesn’t mean that we’ll stop rooting for Roy, though!
This week, Roy finally got his one on one. They went on a quiet stroll through the city, where true to what viewers have begun to expect from their dynamic, Jamie was adorable while Roy pretended not to be charmed. It’s okay, Roy Kent. We can see right through you. Jamie also decided to teach Roy how to ride a bike, which is probably one of the funniest scenes we have ever seen in the long history of the Bachelor. We’re going to be using the gif of Roy chasing Jamie with a bike for the next month!
However–the date apparently didn’t stop there. Sources close to the show confirm that Roy and Jamie spent a majority of the day without cameras on a romantic bike ride through the city. We thought that wasn’t allowed!!
This week, a photo taken by a local three months ago during filming has resurfaced and made its way onto Twitter. In the photo, what appears to be Roy and Jamie in a wooded area of Amsterdam are very clearly making out against a tree with two bicycles discarded at their feet. Footage of this kiss never aired–the date went straight from the beginning of the day portion to night, where Jamie was seen wearing Roy’s own leather jacket to dinner. Is romance heating up between them? Or are we still seeing only evidence of Jamie thinking of Roy Kent as his childhood hero? One thing is for sure–we are on the edge of our seats to find out where the #Ramie romance will go next week.

THE SLUTTIEST SEASON OF THE BACHELOR YET?

Jamie Tartt is the world’s first ever bisexual bachelor. We were apprehensive when this casting was first announced—what can a footballer possibly know about reality television? But after giving him the benefit of the doubt, we have been cringing and rolling our eyes through every week. He’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but it’s been mildly amusing to watch him with some of the girls.
However, at the center of Jmaie’s season has been his… something with Roy Kent. We’re not quite sure if romance is the word for it. A source close to the show confirmed that the two of them just couldn’t keep their hands to themselves while filming, and we see evidence of that every week. Again and again, Jamie and Roy are shown making out and not talking about anything of any importance. Who wants to listen to two grown men talk about football? Blech!
Aside from Jamie, his contestants have also been showing a shocking lack of decorum. Having two Bachelor contestants run away together has to be a new low for the show. And keeping Roy Kent after he got in a fight with one of the other contestants? Okay, Jamie. We’ll let you keep him around long enough to have sex with him. He’s your problem now.

The Best Season of the Bachelor Yet!

Don’t listen to The Sun. Jamie Tartt’s season of The Bachelor is the best to ever hit our televisions.
We’re serious! It has it all–comedy, drama in spades, romance, and sexual tension. Everything you could possibly want from a season of the Bachelor has been tied up so far in a neat little bow, complete with Jamie Tartt, who is surprisingly hilarious and clever, right at the center of it. All we can say–we’re obsessed.
Jamie has formed such genuine and beautiful connections with his contestants. The way he and Amy interact makes my heart swell with happiness–from when she told him that she was bi too and they shared a heartfelt story to them both making fun of Roy together, their relationship has been light and funny and just a joy to watch. On the other hand, Jamie’s relationship with Roy is probably what some would call a little intense. While it's clear to anyone with eyes that these two have enough sexual tension you could cut with a knife, as the weeks progress their connection continues to grow stronger and stronger. And come on. Jamie fought with the producers to let Roy stay after getting in a fight to defend Jamie’s honor. Romance isn’t dead after all!
And don’t even get us started on the drama. The frontrunners being in a feud because of Twilight was just about the funniest B plot in Bachelor history. Having two contestants get kicked off the show for secretly having sex is something so wild it's never been seen before. If we’re only halfway through the season now, we can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for Jamie Tartt. You sir are the best Bachelor we have ever had. Please never change.
