Preppy boys and their petty things

Summary:

In which Jay is part of Chen’s group and is a gossiper and a bisexual mess.

OR

Just a silly fic of Jay being a preppy boy and how he interacts with the cheerleaders. :]

Notes:

I suddenly had this idea when reading a fic and couldn’t stop until I wrote it LOL, I pretend for it to be a very silly thing with maybe some angst here and there, and I will update it every time I can or am inspired.

Also, I will self-beta this and English is not my first language so if you see any mistake don’t be afraid to inform me!

Hope you have a good read!

Chapter 1: Gossip always runs like lightning

Chapter Text

If there is something as fast as lightning in a thunderstorm, is a good and fresh gossip being spread in the insides of Ninjago City’s Public Academy, the halls being filled with the latest news of the fight that send five people to the detention and the cafetery buzzling with all the people talking about the new couples and indecency of supposed cheaters were common sight for who studied in the school, another common sight was Jay Walker in the center of this complex system, somehow always knowing the hottest and most shocking histories of the week.

Jay was a short and slim boy, with soft red curly locks and freckles scattered through his face, his devilish and smart smile perfectly combining with his dark marron eyes that complimented nicely with his tan skin, the redhaired boy was pretty, that anyone could agree. That same boy was a common company for the popular groups, the less social clueless that stayed in the highest place of the hierarchy, he was especially close to the cheerleading team, that adored all the news they received from the rather charming boy no matter how true were his words, Chen, the leader of the team always soaked in the rumors he whispered, especially when then involved someone he didn’t like.

It was rather pleasing for Jay himself, to whisper those normally sick words into someone else’s ears and see the information pass like a current in a wire, he could also sell himself as a people pleaser, the attention he received as sweet as honey when told people all that he knew. But for now, he was in the middle of his classes, listening the teacher explain something he already knew as he rested his head in his left hand, scanning the classroom with a bored energy as he taped his feet lightly, when he suddenly heard the teacher raise her voice in a harsh question.

-Mr. Garmadon! Are you paying attention? - The woman crossed her arms and the redhaired grinned, already knowing what was going on as he looked to the person a few seats that the teacher was talking to, a boy with almost white kind of blond hair and red eyes that pierced anyone who looked at it.

Lloyd Garmadon was the son of Lord Garmadon, an infamous warlord that constantly attacked the city so he could rule it, the attacks had many casualties and brought fear to all Ninjago, especially before the Secret Ninja Force appeared to fight the warlord. Say that he was the most hated person on the entire city was an understatement, and his son was soon pushed into the pedestal of the second most hated person, only behind his destructive father, which of course made a common occurrence the blond teenager being treated poorly.

Really, Jay knew what the woman would say minutes before she furrowed her eyebrows and declared in a stoic tone.

-Detention Garmadon! Next time keep your eyes on the content. – Both Lloyd and the teacher pretended to not notice how the students laughed quietly as he nodded, responding with a quiet -Yes Miss Lenay. – as she walked back to the board, gathering the attention of anyone that didn’t stop with the noise before continuing the class.

The short boy hided his grin as Miss Lenay explained to then something he didn’t paid any mind, thinking that the news about the blonde’s detention could not have come in a more perfect moment, a beautiful cherry on top of all the gossips and rumors he had for today. His eyes scanned the room one more time as he anxiously waited for the academy’s bell ring, lacking the mind to notice the stares of 2 pairs of eyes.

The sound filled the place as much as all the people scattered through the cafetery, resting and eating so they could refill their energy for the rest of the day, Jay looked around before he got the sign of the cheerleaders table and with a grin, he went to the simple but rather full metal table. Maggie, a blonde girl who he got along pretty well saw him and smiled, quick to make space for him to sit on her side as she was eager to interact with the freckled boy.

-Hey Jay! How are you doing? – She looked lazily to him, biting an apple as she tilted her head.

-Hi Mag, I’m doing well, how was your weekend? – He responded, grabbing the snack he had bought so he could eat it, waving his hand to the other cheerleaders when they noticed his presence.

-Oh it was great, quite boring, but great neitherless! And you? Got any news for us?

He smiled devilish, and the girl’s eyes sparkled with excitement. – Ohoho I sure had a good weekend… Now about news… You know Saph? From 7b that was dating John? – Maggie nodded, and the other girls finished their talk to hear better his words. – Well, I don’t think I can’t say the same about her weekend considering she found John having a “private fun” with her friend Cassy. – He cackled at the gasps, nodding to their disbelief, and agreeing about how the poor girl deserved better. Of course, the conversation continued as he commented and explained things with more details, listening to their debates as he ate his lunch, they passed with easy to the next topic each time they heard something new and soon there was only one last thing for him to tell.

-I totally agree with you sally! Janice should mind her own business! – He replied, drinking from his water bottle. -Anyways, I think that’s all- Oh wait! I almost forgot to tell you about garmadork! –

That made Chen, who was having a discussion with a girl named Mary about something he didn’t pay much attention to, look at him curiously, they all grinned cruelly before the team’s leader spoked. – Oh really? What happened? Did the idiot fall on his face? – Jay snickered – Nope! Got another detention at Miss Lenay class! –

That made all the table collapse in laugher, all of them making fun of Lloyd’s problem for a few moments before going back to the original quiet murmuring that usually made company for the group, now that he had shared all of the exciting gossips, the redhaired boy had fallen into a comfortable silence, finishing his snack and getting his cellphone to mess with while he waited for the bell to ring. Suddenly Maggie poked his arm, making the boy get his eyes of a post he was reading on Twitter so he could pay attention to the blonde’s words.

-Hey birdie, tomorrow we are all going to the central park together, wanna come along? – She tilted her head slightly, arching her eyebrows and making a questioning pout, Jay smiled before replying to her. -Of course, send me the hour by text latter and I’ll be there! – The girl grinned with satisfaction before returning to the chat the others were having, and the short boy felt his heart melt a little bit at the fact the group wanted to hang out with him for something other than what he could tell them. It was not the first time he participated of an event with the group of course, but he always been a little sappy anyways.

He went back to his phone and after some minutes they all heard the bell ring, everyone quickly said their goodbyes as they went for their classes, another redhaired girl named Sally making him company since they had the same class that period.

Lloyd was definitely not having a good day, so he sighed in relief when the school had finally ended for the day, the blond got up as he snatched his backpack and made his way to the entrance, angry and displeasured eyes accompanying him as he passed the corridors. But luck was not on his side today, because when he could almost see the doors, he heard a very annoying and well known voice call his name.

-HEY GARMADORK! – Lloyd made a displeasured face before looking back, seeing Chen and his group of friends with shit-eating grins on their faces as they approached the blond. He turned to look at them with a grimace as he answered. -Oh... Hey Chen... – The cheerleader frowned at him before standing in front of the boy, he smiled before saying in a mocking tone. -What’s wrong uh? Had a bad day? I’ve got plenty of those, especially when your father attacked the city – The older’s tone was acidy, and all of them laughed at the little show he was putting, Lloyd was about to answer when he felt a hand in his shoulder.

-That is none of your business Chen, go bother someone else since you are so good at it. – The blond felt himself smile at the way Kai, one of his friends, defended him.

Kai was an intimidating guy, with spike brown hair and amber eyes, in his face a long scar that nobody really knew how he got, he was also a person that often got in problems and had a difficult personality when angry. He saw Kai stand next to him, and Chen rolled his eyes in disgust.

-Do not tell me what to do Smith, I’m not the one who is friends with the guy that got a detention for the fourth time this month. – The blond boy felt his face rise temperature as he blushed in embarrassment, Kai looked at Chen with a hard stare, who just scoffed in return but ended up leaving the place. His friend looked at him, silently questioning if he was okay, Lloyd nodded and with a wary look from Kai they leaved the building and run into their base’s direction. Eager to train so the next time his dad attacked Ninjago, the Secret Ninja Force would be ready and waiting for it.

Chapter 2: A stupid plan, really, who would think this was a good idea?

Summary:

Apparently, Kai and Cole would think it was a good idea.

Chapter Text

It didn’t take too long for Lloyd and Kai to finally reach the warehouse where their base was located, but they were the last ones to arrive anyways, Kai opened the places door and the other ninjas, all siting together in couches in some kind of living room, turned to look at them. Kai’s sister, Nya, arched her eyebrows to the two of them before speaking in a loud and clear voice.

-Dude what took you so long? Did Kai almost fall of a building again?

The blond boy snickered at the same time the older sibling sputtered at the girl’s mention, complaining that the accident had happened a long time ago, even though it’s been just the other week, but was quick to clarify to the girl with raven hair using a gray gi.

-Nah, Chen decided to pick on me just when I was leaving.

The light atmosphere darkened a bit at the blond’s words, even though they were all used to being social outcasts for being friends with Lloyd it didn’t mean they took well how he was treated. Kai looked at the boy in black gi, Cole, before sharing another thing that happened on the confront.

-Also, the asshole already knew about green’s detention, I guess one of his little “friends” – Kai emphasized the asps on the word friends – Was in class with us and snitched about it. – Cole scoffed, and the other three looked at them in confusion, the black-haired boy then said to Lloyd.

-You know the kid that sits two seats behind you? The one with red hair? – As they talked, they moved on to a training mat at the other side of the place, green hesitated for a second before shaking his head, black didn’t look phased as he grabbed one of the wood swords they had for friendly matches. – Well, he is a huge gossiper and one of the biggest preppy boys I’ve ever met, he also lunches with the cheerleaders so, you know. – Zane, the white ninja, who had been quiet for all the conversation then asked – Do you perhaps know his name? – Kai looked from where he started a fight with his sister for a moment before answering. – Yeah I think it’s Jay Walkie or something like that. –

The nindroid nodded and zoned out for a few minutes, suddenly raising his voice once more to speak. – Hm, my data could only find a Jay Walker, he is in the same history class as all of us and participates in three extra activities clubs. – The other ninjas looked at Zane, and just when Lloyd was going to ask if he really had just stalked the boy’s school data, Nya gasped. – Wait, Walker? I know him, he’s also in drama club! Wow, I would never guess he was friends with those devil spawns... – The group gets quiet after that, all of them lost in their own minds as the repetitive motions of the training soothed them.

The silence didn’t endure for too long though, soon they talked about all random topics they would think, laughing and having fun, and if Kai and Cole were a little bit more quiet than usual, they simply didn’t think too much about it.

The next day was pretty normal, they all had a peaceful first period and sat together at lunch as always, Zane and Nya were discussing something they both had learned at science class and Lloyd was munching on his food quietly, though Kai looked around the cafetery like he was looking for someone, and discretely poked Cole to see something, or rather someone, he was pointing at as soon as he looked like he found it. The raven boy took off his signature headphones as he looked at the direction the one with ember eyes was pointing and frowned at what he saw.

Lloyd raised an eyebrow, looking to where Kai had just pointed at, getting even more confused when he only saw the cheerleader’s table, he shrugged to himself and looked back at his food, deciding he didn’t want to be part of whatever the two were planning. He couldn’t say the same about Nya, that spoke her questions out loud the moment she noticed the strange behavior.

-What got you guys looking at Chen’s table so much uh? – She narrowed her eyes. – Are you planning to do something stupid? –

Both immediately wiped their heads to her, looking embarrassed about being caught staring, that didn’t stop the fire boy from defending himself though, so no one was surprised when he yelped.

-We’re not! We, uh, we were just looking! For no reason! – Kai chucked awkwardly as his sister crossed her arms. – Really? Cuz you both have been really quiet since yesterday... What are you hiding from us hm? –

Both the boys avoided her gaze, she stared at them for a few seconds before sighing, she put her arms by her side before declaring with a voice of someone who knows that will regret what they’re about to say. – FINE! Don’t tell us, but if you do something dumb or painfully stupid we are having a talk at home. – The two smiled at her, nodding their heads to show that they’ve understood.

The rest of the lunch was normal, but the blond boys and the raven girl couldn’t help but feel uneasy, like they were bond to regret not stopping Kai and Cole from doing something very dumb, well, you know what they always say, bond to regret the past and feel tense for the future, always on maybes, never on present.

Today Jay was walking alone to his class, nobody on the team shared it with him and he couldn’t really pay attention to anyone with how focused he was on his sketchbook, at the end of the month Maggie was going to turn 17 years old, and he wanted to give his best friend a really cool gift, he was brainstorming about it since first class period so it wasn’t really a shock when he suddenly collided with another person, he swore under his breath as he went to pick the things he had dropped, apologizing without really looking at whoever he bumped into.

-Ops, sorry about that- – Too suddenly another pair of hands snatched his sketchbook from the floor, he looked at them with a confused gaze, that turned harsh when he saw Kai Smith of all people holding it, a taunting grin on his face as he looked at the smaller boy. Jay got up, and with a glance to his left noticed that the person who he first collided to was Cole, another one of the infamous friends of Garmadon, he swore in his mind.

Okay so, it wasn’t that he feared Garmadon’s friends, but it was common understanding that they were the type of people you wouldn’t fight or try to bully, at least physically. Specially Cole, he was quiet but built like a bull, hell he could snap Jay at two halves if he wanted too, okay maybe he found the fact a little hot, anyways it was definitely a bad idea get any physical near the raven boy, which made the red haired a little nervous. He decided to look only at Kai, setting for an irritated frown.

-Excuse me, this is my book. – The shorter boy tried to reach his precious notebook filled with his ideas and drawings, but Kai moved further up his hand, just out of reach from the boy’s hands, Kai snickered, and Cole rolled his eyes, the red boy speaking in an ironic tone. – Oh really? Isn’t it a shame? – The freckled boy huffed, crossing his arms and nervously tapping his foot.

-Look I don’t know what’s the problem with- – Kai’s grin turned into a sneer as he cut the other. – Oh, you ask what’s the problem? Well, it would be nothing if your petty ass stopped intruding in my friend’s life, but you had to be an attention seeker and talk everyone’s ears off so here we are! – Jay shrunk back at the harsh words, and even the raven boy besides Kai did a double take at the other’s way of phrasing but deciding to stay quiet.

The short boy gaped at what he had just heard, before settling in a now angry glare, clenching his fists as he spoke again. – Give my notebook back! – He tried to grab it again, but this time he was blocked by Cole who hold his wrist, he frowned at the bigger one, trying to get out of his hold, but Cole only used more force against him, which was enough to sting, and suddenly, before any of them could do anything else, they heard a loud female voice.

-KAI! COLE! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!

The disappointment in Nya’s face was obvious since she found them intimidating Jay Walker, and was kept until they got at the Smith’s house, today there was no training so they all had agreed to meet at the siblings home, and right now the other three from the group looked at Kai and Cole in a way that they didn’t even had to say something for their message to pass.

-Why the hell would you do that?! – Came Lloyd’s question anyways, and the black ninja looked to the brown-haired boy, who sigh before speaking slowly. – Well… Uh, we… Well since yesterday me and Cole were thinking about how Jay had snitched your detention to Chen, and how he was usually involved in any gossip from our group… So, uh, we though that maybe we could make him stop if we, uh... – Nya looked at them disapproving. – If you intimidated him enough to fear us? That’s the worst idea I have ever listened to in my whole life. – Kai sputtered, probably to argue with the statement, but was quickly shut by the way Zane said in his mechanical voice. – What you guys did prove to be extremely irresponsible and inadequate, and I hope you both understate to never do something like that again. – The black and red ninja sighed in defeat, nodding to their friends.

Chapter Text

Okay, something Jay could admit was that the encounter he had with Lloyd’s friends had thrown him off, and he was genuinely scared of what could have happened if Nya didn’t appear in time. But it had been a long time since he went out with his friends from the team, and the day would only suck more if he didn’t go, so about thirty minutes before the time they had decided, Jay started to get dressed.

With a quick look into his wardrobe, he took a black short and a white top, as well as a beautiful dark blue coat and an orange scarf. After he was dressed and had said his goodbye to his parents, it didn’t take long for him to reach the park, meeting the group all sitting in wood benches near a little lake that the park had, Saddy, a girl with dark brown hair styled in cute ponytails waved to him, shouting out in an excited voice.

-HEY BLUEBIRD! – The others looked at his direction and Maggie smiled, patting a free space at her side from where she was sitting. – Come here Jay! Charlotte and Oliver are getting some fries for us! – The redhaired sat at the place the blonde pointed out, starting a conversation with a cute raven-haired boy named James, who was friends with someone else of the group and had tagged along.

It didn’t take long for Charlotte and Oliver to arrive with the snacks for everybody, and they all started munching on it as they discussed all the various topics. Sally then turned to Maggie, asking in a cheerful voice. – Hey Mag, your birthday is coming right? Have you finished the details of your party? – That catches the attention of the others. – Oh yeah! You made a comment about it didn’t you? – Gosh I’m so excited! Your parties are always the best! – The blonde giggled before finally saying. – Alright guys! Slow down, no Sasa I didn’t finish the details, BUT! I will at the end of the week! And I can promise it’s going to be big since I pretend to invite everyone from our year! –

They cheered at the promise, but Jay’s smile got replaced for a confused frown. – Wait, everyone of our year? You aren’t including Lloyd and his little bodyguards, are you? – The blonde girl sent back an awkward smile, wagging her hand at the incredulous boy. – Maybe I am, but it’s for a good reason! If Lloyd is there the probability of Garmadon attacking near the place is shorter, and he is probably going to refuse anyways! It’s a win-win situation, no big deal! – Jay still looked puzzled at the decision, but sighed and nodded his head at the puppy eyes Mag had sent to him, she cheered, throwing her arms up.

She then poked his arm. – Soooo, what are you going to give me? Y’know, as a birthday gift. – He chuckled, and flicked her forehead lightly, ignoring her complaints. – It’s a surprise silly! You’ll know when I give it to you. – She puffed her cheeks, holding his arm and shaking it. – But birdieeee, you know I’m curious! Pleaseeeee. – The freckled boy shook his head with entertainment. – Nuh uh, you gotta wait like everyone else! –

She made a fake sad sound, leaving the case as she turned to get another french fries, Jay laughed at the act, when he suddenly felt a current of energy passing his body, giving him goosebumps. He looked to the sky above them, noticing some dark gray clouds and that the wind was stronger than usual, he them spoke.

-Hey guys, I think we should leave, it’s going to rain pretty soon. – The others looked to the clouds above, making agreement noises as they started gathering their things. Jay got his cellphone at the table, where he noticed he had two new messages from an unknown number.

+61 028-2974 - unknown number

-Hey canary, can we talk?

-I’m really sorry about what I said last time :(

The red-haired frowned, blocking the number before putting his phone in his pocket, turning around to say goodbye to the group. Maggie was looking at him with a worried expression, pointing to his phone with her head and asking in a hushed tone.

-Is it that creepy from last time? Didn’t you block him? – He rolled his eyes with a huff, nodding his head. – I did, he used another number, I swear the guy can’t understand the word no even if you write it for him. – He moved to give her a quick goodbye hug.

And that’s when things went wrong, for like, the fourth time in the day.

The ground shook, sending everyone tumbling down as they tried not to fall, an alarm started blasting from near, and Jay recognized it as the alarm that warned everyone that Garmadon was attacking. People started screaming and running around in a tentative of finding a safe place to hide, causing a tremendous chaos, and making everything more difficult to process. The redhaired flinched, his sensitive ears hurting from all the noise around him, he grabbed Mag’s hand while they tried to find a safe place, a hard task since they didn’t know where the attack was happening.

After some minutes, both finally found an alley that was somewhat safe from the havoc, and jay sat there, covering his ears in an attempt to muffle the chaos as Maggie hugged his side, trying to comfort both her and Jay. The boy in the blue jacket felt his breath turn erratic as his panic grow, even more when one of the warlord’s minions sent a blast very near their location, making them both shout in surprise. The blonde girl was shaking, but as soon as the noise turned down a little bit, she put her hands in his shoulders, hugging him as she spoke in a somewhat clear voice.

-Hey birdie, I really need you to breath with me, okay? Repeat after me okay? – She made exaggerated breathing motions, and watched as her best friend immitted her the best way he could. They stayed like this until the freckled boy could do it normally, and he hugged her back before replying with a cracked voice. – Thanks Mag, sorry… - The girl held his hand, saying in a soft tone – It’s kay Jay, really. –

They could hear fighting noises in the background, a little further from where they were hiding, and when they looked, they saw the red ninja’s mech in a combat with some mechs from Garmadon’s army. The blonde looked at her friend, and both nodded as they reached the same conclusion, the duo stood up slowly, going to the other side where the alley reached a second street, and as soon as they saw the path was clear they sprinted.

-I hope we get home safe – thought Jay as they ran the streets, the rain had finally started, soaking the teenagers that prayed to not find any attacker in the way.

Chapter Text

The two soaked teenagers were running as fast as they could, passing from one street to another and trying their best to avoid the place where the invaders were concentrated. Jay forced himself to not look back because they needed to get to Maggie’s house the sooner they could, since it was near and probably safer than the apartment the redhaired lived with his parents. Sadly, it didn’t take to long for their luck to run out, and when they turned at the crossroads both faced a giant crab mech being ridden by a henchman with an evil grin.

In jay’s opinion, it was as ridiculous as it was threating, but he wasn’t in the kind of situation where he would comment on that. They tried to run to the opposite side as soon as the shock passed, but the man was faster and send a missile to the shop near them, unbalancing the couple of friends and sending them to the ground. The projectiles from the explosion hit the blonde girl in the leg, and she shouted in pain when trying to get up.

-SHIT! – Maggie shinkred, clutching her leg and hissing when the rain kept washing the blood, Jay went to her, coughing from all the smoke the debris caused. He was luck he didn’t get any cut, but there would certainly be bruises, he winced at the state of his friend’s leg, but was quick to help her get up by acting as a support, he whispered in a broken voice. – Come on Mag, the guy must be nearby. – No sooner said than done, they heard another explosion a bit further, they shouted, and through the smoke they say the mech going in their direction, both went back the further possible before they were both cornered.

The henchman laughed darkly, approaching the teenagers slowly as they shrinked, Jay hugging his friend protectively as he thought profusely about his options. To the relief of the puzzled boy, he didn’t have to think about it anymore, because the white ninja appeared, freezing the man and his crab mech. The ninja in white gi turned at them before asking in a robotic but kind voice nonetheless.

-Are you two okay? Did any of you get hurt? – Jay sighed before responding in a shaky voice. – I- I’m fine I think, but my friend got hit by the debris and is bleeding, thank you for helping us. – The ninja nodded his head with a worried expression before replaying. – Of course, here, let me help you, my teammates are taking control of the situation, and I can drive you two to the nearest emergency center so they can check your friend. –

White approached the teenagers, acting as support so Maggie could be led to the ninja’s mech without injuring her leg further, after helping her Jay leaped to the vehicles’ inside, sitting by her side and letting her rest her head in his shoulder, refusing to wince even though he had some nasty bruises. The ninja in white gi started driving to where there was the center, activating the mech so the two friends in the passenger seats could not hear his conversation with the rest of the team, the nindroid presses his finger at the commns in his right ear.

-Hey guys, is everyone okay? – White asked, he heard a scratch, and red responded. – Yup! All fine here! – Gray made an agreement noise, black answered with a whop, green spoke. – Garmadon is making an escape, did you find any civilians? – White hummed before replying. – Yeah, I actually found Jay and Maggie, the cheerleader y’know? I’m driving them to the emergency center. –

Silence filled the line for a moment before Lloyd said something else. – Maggie the cheerleader? What were they doing this side of the town? – Nobody had the answer, so they all said their goodbyes and agreed to meet at the center with Zane.

Five minutes after they had gotten to the center, the other ninjas appeared in their iconic mechs, Mag was already being checked so Jay decided to sit in a bench nearby, trying his best to clean the dust that had sat in his clothes, the rain had stopped by now, but he was soaked anyways so he took of his jacket, using the towel one of the nurses of the center had given to him to dry whatever he could.

He checked his jacket to see if his phone was still there, sighing happily when he did find it, the ginger saw that it was also working, even though it was on low battery. Jay send a message in the group chat he had with his friends, asking if they were okay and telling that he and Maggie were safe, relief poured into him when he saw that most were fine. He looked up to the direction of the ninja team, that by now was having a short interview for the local journal, before getting up and going to the center to check his friend one more time before calling his parents so they could pick him up.

Jay lay down in his bed with a huff, he had just taken a bath and was now in a really comfy pajamas after such an exhausting day, the ginger was completely ready to sleep for the next seven years if you asked him. – At least I only got some bruises in this mess – The boy thought to himself, mourning how Mag would not be able to participate in cheerleading for a long time, since the doctors had been very vocal on how she couldn’t use her hurt leg too much while healing.

The redhaired tucked in his bed, yawning sleepily before setting off the light on his headboard before finally going to sleep. He would need it.

Chapter 5: Strange day, good day

Chapter Text

The other day had been a mess, none of them expecting Lloyd’s father to attack, so it was quite a euphemism to say the blond was exhausted, even though it was only the first period of the day, he put his head in his hand as he listened half-heartedly the teacher explain something he didn’t really care about, feeling really bored since he didn’t share this class with any of his friends. He looked around lazily, but his attention was caught when he saw a familiar boy only some seats of distance, the boy was redhaired and had a bruise in his cheek, Lloyd realized that it must been the same guy with Maggie at the day of the attack.

He looked away in a bit of shame, still guilt for not stopping Kai and Cole of being assholes to him, the boy looked pretty chill and reclused and nothing like the big jerk his friends painted him as. He decided to try to pay attention to class, not wanting to end up in detention again so soon neither for Jay to notice he had been looking.

It didn’t take long for the bell to ring to announce the class had ended, but it still felt like hours for the blond kid, he put his things in his backpack, yawing as he tried to blink his sleepiness away. He always tried to be one of the firsts to leave when he wasn’t with one of his friends, but since he was so tired, he ended up being one of the last ones, he got up, putting his bag in his shoulder in a quick motion, until he felt a poke in his arm.

It was a girl with blond hair stylized in a French braid and dark brown eyes, he recognized her as Maggie, the girl Zane had saved the other day and part of Chen’s group. The boy suddenly felt nervous for the interaction but arched his eyebrows questioning anyways. The girl looked around quickly, before setting back on Lloyd, she smiled, as if trying to appear nice and innocent, and said in a sugary voice.

-Heyy Lloyd, how are you doing? Look, I know we are not on good terms with the whole you having a villain father and me being Chen’s friend… - She tilted her head, frowning a little before she finished. – Buuuut, my birthday is coming at the end of the month, and I kind of promised to my friends that I would invite everyone of our year, and I would be a bitch if I didn’t do it after promising. –

The girl held a fancy invitation at his face, putting it in his hands right away. -So here is it! And give those to your little friends so I won’t need to chase them! – She put another four identical invites at his table, clapping her hands and looking at him with a big kind of forced grin, the blond boy in question just stood there with his jaw dropped, after some seconds he nodded, murmuring something about giving it to them.

Satisfied, the girl took her backpack and went out of the classroom without another word, he finally looked at the invite, reading it half-heartedly as he went out of the room. – Well – He thought to himself. – That was definitely a surprise.

The theatre room of the academy was quite big, having enough space in the case of needing it for a performance, and every Thursday the drama club reunited for activities and dynamics, Nya was in the group for about a year now and had a good relationship with the participants. She entered the room, carrying her helmet and bag, and was promptly greeted by a girl with ginger hair sitting in a chair at the stage.

-Hey Nya, how are you doing? – The raven girl put her bag at the floor of the stage, sitting in a chair right by her side. – I’m fine Skylor, and you? Had any problems at the attack last night? – Skylor shook her head, so Nya resumed to greet the others before asking her. – Also did you receive the invite for Maggie’s party? I heard she is giving it to everyone of our year. – The ginger made a sound of confirmation, grabbing the paper in question from her bag and showing it to her.

-I’m honestly kinda surprised she gave it to you too, considering your group’s reputation and all. – Nya nodded. – Yeah I’m with you in this, she even gave it to Lloyd. – Their conversation ended when the Leader of the club arrived, clapping his hands so everyone could pay their total attention to what he was going to say.

-As all of you know, the end of the year is coming and with it is also our Christmas spectacle, so we need to start the preparations for it. – Everyone cheered excitedly. - So for today I want you all to read the script and if you are interested in any role, please participate at the auditions tomorrow and Saturday, the rest talk to Jay so you can start talking about the figurines and the technical part. – The ginger boy mentioned stood holding a clipboard, and started writing the names and occupations of the ones that wanted to participate in the backstage.

Nya took one of the samples with the list of characters, planning to read it when she got home, the raven girl put it in her bag and turned to Skylor. – I’m going off now! Need a ride? – The redhaired shook her head, smiling as she spoke. – Nah, I be fine, see you tomorrow for the auditions? – Nya snickered. – You betcha I’ll go! –

The girl leaves the room humming, she forgot to talk with Jay about the incident, but she decided it would be fine and that she could say sorry another time. She went out of school, hopping in her bike and turning it on, she made sure her things were secured one more time before driving home.

Chapter 6: UPDATE

Summary:

Some updates on the inactivity of this story.

Chapter Text

Okay, so, hey guys

It’s been almost a whole year since my last update and a LOT changed lol, started the last years of high school, left and returned to the Ninjago fandom, left the qsmp fandom before it all came to hell, started a dsmp fic (because the two types of hyper fixation I can’t give up are apparently minecraft and gay legos LOL) and also a lot of personal bullshit happening with my family. So yeah, I've been a little busy.

I have decided that I’m not going to orphan this fic, instead, I'm going to completely rewrite it, a choice I'm making because my writing style changed so much, I don't think I can use my last one ever again and I don’t remember half of what I planned for it (If I even had something planned tbh)

This one will still be on until I finish at least five chapters of the new fic, and I’ll put the new link in the author notes for you guys who liked this fic (even if it is a little garbage lol)

I also want to say sorry to every that bookmarked and subscribed for being offline for so long, it still makes my day every time I receive an email telling me someone gave kudos to this work despite being inactive, and that I hope you guys like the changes I’m going to make! Kisses, Skrongle :D
