The Crew, tired of the constant eyefucking, wistful sighing, leave-room-for-Jesus of it all between their Captain and Ed, convinces Stede that his new fancy jacket is cursed.
The only way to break the curse so he can remove the jacket and save his Crew is to, well, you get the idea.

“I will be on deck,” he announces before stomping up the stairs. “Yeah, you wish,” Jim mutters.
“So I’ll do it. I’ll have that little talk about the bees and the bees with Bonnet, and you lot manifest some curses, yeah? Rattle him a bit, yeah?” The Crew nod. “Right! Get to work.” Izzy trudges up the stairs to the deck, mentally preparing for Stede’s lesson in pirating for the day.
Stede whispers. “The collar stays on, right?”
