I think I said it before but I think Maedhros has a weird relationship with hair, mostly from Angband but also a bit from his childhood, like sometimes he shaves it all off, or just some of it, and other times he just lets it grow down to his knees.

I´m always torn in between making Rohan Europe, in the medieval times, or nomadic tribes, inspired, but now I have made peace with myself by making Rohan as Europe and the Haladin as nomadic as I see them as the ancestors of Rohan.

The length of the braid under the first green ribbon is horse hair, as I like to think the people of Rohan used the manes of horses in many different ways, one of them as some type of ornament.

Caranthir is wearing fewer layers than I usually give him, which means he´s not dressed "fancy" in his own eyes (everyone else thinks he´s always fancy/overdressed but that doesn't matter)

His hair is a mix between not brushing (the only times he brushes it is when Nerdanels is there to do it and remembers it herself) and mad science layers haircut/long wulfcut - I did have a fight with myself if I should add some braids or not so I decided to not add all the braids he would have as crown prince/king and instead made them more casual as he doesn't have all that much time

I wanted to give him all black eyes as I headcannon Eol as a Maia and wanted to show it, but I decided he looked better with his usual purple ones,

- only some generations part Maiar (like Elwing/Elrond and Elros) get halos like the Elvers who have seen the trees, as the others, such as Dior and Luthien can "hide" it with their power

Moonflower; Moonflowers symbolize romance, mystery, and femininity. As they bloom in the darkness they also symbolize hope and beauty to emerge in dark times; Fun fact they have been used in different places and times in rituals honoring women as well as seen as a deity guide for the spirit, and used to see the future.

Orange; The orange has been known throughout a lot of time to represent the nobility as well as thought to bring wealth and happiness. It is ambitions and luxury and sometimes adventure.

And now I personally begin celebrating the dark days and the lights return, happy first Yule day! (yes I know it´s first tm, because winter solstice moved a day this year but it usually starts the 21, let me dream)

I think she fits so well to the day, especially since it´s the first and the lightest of them!!

Happy winter solstice day!

Okay so I kinda forgot what day it is so there´s a unicorn version as well as a bonfire version

Mistletoe; Mistletoe represents romance, fertility, and vitality, and let´s not forget it´s a poisoned plant, although Celtic druids did use it for healing properties and decorations

Holly; Hollies were also used by druids as a symbol for fertility and eternal life and thought of to have magical powers - whereas when Christianity adopted the tree the leaves symbolised Christ's thorn crown and the berries his blood

True blue Pansy; blue Pansy´s symbolize loyalty, honesty, devotion, and trust.

Bluehead Gilia ; Bluehead Gilia is an annual herb with a self-supporting growth system. The Gilia has been used to treat blood disease over the years.

Fingon is in the free day clothes Maedhors just came in after some flower picking fully dressed; I also like to headcannon Himring fashion to include a lot of embroidered floral.

I finished it today, in a bit of a rush, so I think I could have done better with the background, but I´m still happy with it; I wanted to go for an icy feel, even on Mairon´s side, and I think I got that, I also knew I wanted the background to be dark, just how dark was the question, mostly so I could make them pop, but also because of all that "Dark Lord" stuff they have going on :).
