Work Text:
The evening Neuvillette accompanied Sigewinne to Meropide, he was unwilling to say goodbye to her.
At the doors, Wriothesley came by to make sure the Head Nurse was safely back in her quarters and also in bed, and not out taking pictures with her new Kamera.
The Duke is always good at reading the hearts of his people but not quite the Chief Justice's thoughts though he was learning well. Neuvillette stayed by the doors, handing a bag of sweets to Sigewinne, and seemed to be going on about something.
"Make sure you tell me if there's not enough to eat here. Make sure you use the blanket we bought. There's a book here about the new Kamera we bought in the Vasari shoppes." Sigewinne nodded and nodded, and she caught sight of the Duke leaning against a pillar, watching them.
"I have to go, Monsieur," She tugs his cuff, pulling him down to whisper, tilting her head towards Wriothesley, "My vacation is over."
She promptly reminded him and patted his gloved hand in assurance, "I'll go back up to the city soon and we can visit the tea-shop you liked"
Neuvillette sighed. Not audibly, just a slight hunching of his shoulders - the mantle feeling heavier than usual. He let himself be coddled by Sigewinne's reassurances and stepped away.
She did a small bow and turned to go, digging into the bag of sweets and stuffing a chocolate bonbon into Wriothesley's hand before she went down the metal steps to her rooms.
Sigewinne did not like curfews but as an employee, she will have to abide strictly by it.
But before she did leave, Sigewinne took out her Kamera, and pulled a photograph out from its holder, waving it to Wriothesley and pushed that too into his hand, "I forgot this! Could you give it to Monsieur?"
He glanced at the photograph, and then up again at the doors. Neuvillette was gone.
"This will have to wait till morning," Wriothesley muttered.
"Morning? No, no, Monsieur is going on a trip. You should give him tonight. I am going to sleep." Sigewinne insisted and left.
