Work Text:

“Anything i can do for you in return?” The angel clutched at the bag of books in his lap, his eyes drawn towards the demon in the drivers seat.

Crowley didn’t respond, his eyes cast behind his glasses as he stared at the road ahead of them. Realistically, he could think of a million things that he could get the angel to do for him. Get heaven off of his back, maybe hell too if he played his cards right. For the angel to look at him with those bright blue eyes, to draw close to him to feel his breath on his lips, to have the angel leaning over him-no.

Crowley stopped that thought. His eyes focused back on the road, the lights of the building passing by with a quick glance. He kept his mouth shut, there was nothing that the angel could do for him. Not now, not ever.

—

The bookshop was warm when they stepped in. Quickly taking off his overcoat and hat and placing them to the side, Crowley threw himself down on the seat facing the bookshelves. Delicately licking his lips, he always enjoyed the smell of the bookshop. It reminded him too much of how Aziraphale smelled. Old books, and the 1658 cologne that he stashed bottles of in the back room. It smelled like, home.

His eyes drew over to aziraphale as he scavenged for a particular book Crowley couldn’t remember the name of. Overcoat shedded had left the angel in his shirt and waistcoat. Crowley couldn’t help but let his eyes wander over the angels form. Everything about the angel was…well… angelic. The way that his hair curled, the small tufts created a halo like look. Especially in the sunlight.

His clothes matched, the beige colours had never changed over the many years that they had known each other.

As crowley’s chest warmed at the memories he looked away, wouldn’t let himself feel gushy over someone such as aziraphale. He was a demon, he was an angel, they were mortal enemies. They only had this…relationship…because hell and heaven didn’t know any better.

—

Their hands brushed as he held up the gun. The audience stared. He knew that they were only human, nothing was watching them there. Yet, he felt guilt, crawling at the inside of his soul like a rearing ugly beast. No-one was watching them here.

But he felt eyes on him like a scalding hot brander.

Yet despite that, his heart sped up and his pupils exploded at the contact.

God he was about to shoot Aziraphale. What the fuck was he doing?

—

“That was a pretty neat trick you did back there angel” Crowley chuckled as he exited the backstage theatre door.

Azirapahle hummed contently as he placed the image into his waistcoat pocket and followed Crowley to the boot of his car, where they placed the magic props and closed it with a soft click.

“I- um, i wanted to Thankyou for what you did back there” Crowley looked up at the angel with a confused expression, his eyes glowed behind his glasses.

“Whatever for, angel?”

“For helping me, this evening, I know that sometimes i can get a bit ahead of myself, but i don’t think i could have pulled that off without you there” he looked up through his dark lashes at the demon, and Crowley felt his cheeks heating up.

His mind was brought back to the magic shop, where the cashier, (whatever his name was, Crowley couldn’t remember) as he said the trick had to be done with someone you trust.

Aziraphale hadn’t hesitated, not one bit.

“No worries, angel, it was…” he searched for a word “…fun, it was fun”

Aziraphale chuckled and Crowley couldn’t help but melt at the noise, “i guess i owe you extra now, huh?”

Crowley felt his heart speed up “owe me? Angel you don’t owe me anything” his voice stuttered as he looked to the side, finding aziraphale much closer than before as he leant against the boot of his car.

“Surely i can give you something, take you out to dinner, perhaps?”

He was close, so close that Crowley could feel his breath on his face and taste his cologne on his tongue.

Crowley could see how he sparkled under the lights of the street lamps. The glitter on his face didn’t come off all the way, and the eyeliner across his lashes darkened the glow of his eyes.

He looked, beautiful.

Crowley hummed deeply, leaning in closer so that his breaths mingled with Aziraphales’ “maybe there is something you can do for me” He whispered.

Taking in the way that the angel’s breath hitched as he leaned forwards. The smell of cologne and old books filled his senses. Bright blue eyes, filled with desire and longing.

His pupils blew wide behind his glasses as azirapahle, leaned forwards on his toes, connecting their mouths with an urgency he couldn’t quiet place. A longing.

He moaned as the angel wrapped his arms around the back of neck and he around his angel’s waist. Placed firmly as though they were made to be put there.

The taste of sweets and cake made his way into his system, mixed with his morning coffee. It was the most delicious sensation he had experienced.

He almost whined as Aziraphale pulled back, wanting, longing for more.

But Aziraphale didn’t detach himself from Crowley’s grasp, he felt as those fingers made their way up his neck. Burying themselves in his undercut before moving to the lenses of his glasses.

Crowley didn’t hold back the quiet hiss as the shades were taken down, Aziraphale’s eyes met his own.

However with them now down, he took silent pride in the way that Aziraphale’s cheeks were as red as his hair. They probably didn’t differ much from his own.

“Your eyes are always so pretty Crowley”. His name on Aziraphale’s tongue was as sweet as the cake the angel likes to eat.
He hummed as azirapahle placed the shades in his collar, keeping one hand on the side of his face before bringing up the other again. Running a thumb over his cheek, aziraphale smiled.

“Your scales too”

Scales?

Crowley brought a hand up to his cheek, and sure enough the small speckled scales dotted his cheeks, forming a thick clump by the time it reached his sideburns. Crowley felt his chest fill with both shame and embarrassment as he pulled away quickly. Mumbling something about the dinner that aziraphale had planned and shutting himself in the driver seat of his car.

Getting control of his heartbeat and placing a hand to the side of his face to retract whatever had grown there in the first place. Bringing his shades up and placing them over his eyes gave him a sense of comfort as aziraphale opened the other side of the door.

He got in silently, his cheeks tinted pink and his hands folding in anxiety.

“I’m sorr-“

“Where to angel?”

Aziraphale looked up, “w-what?”

“Where to?”

“O-oh” he looked towards the road ahead, lit up by peoples house lights and the street lamps that littered the pavements.

“I was thinking the ritz?” He smiled hopefully as Crowley hummed and started the car.

They never spoke of that night again. But Crowley thought of it frequently when he was given the time.
