Summary
Life is the amassed sum of many different parts, most of which vary in size, form, and weight. Some of these parts are good, some are bad, and some are neither and both all at the same time.
Casey knew this better than most, having grown up in a horror filled, broken world.
And yet, he also knew joy. He knew the excitement of welcoming new refugees into the Resistance, he knew the comfort of being surrounded by trusted family and friends, he knew the calm of watching the empty plains, and he knew the thrill of standing on the edge of the skyscraper ruins, so far from the horrors of the world that he felt he could almost leap and take flight, leaving behind the bloodshed and sorrow.
But when he did end up leaving his world behind, it didn't bring him the happiness he had longed for. He had lost everything; his home, his people, his family. They were all gone...
...Or so it seemed. Yet no one will ever know everything, and sometimes it's hard to see all the different parts that make up the whole story, especially while they're taking place and your living through them. Sometimes life is unpredictable, and sometimes things that seem broken aren't nearly as broken as once believed.
