Work Text:

Izuku and Katsuki had been dating for a couple of months now. They had already told a few of their classmates; they all would find out soon enough. But there was one thing that Izuku would not tell them. Something he would take to his grave.

The two of them sat in Katsuki’s dorm room, having just finished their homework—Izuku usually did his homework late, but Katsuki yelled at him for being unproductive and they both finished early—and were now sitting on Katsuki’s bed.

They turned on a movie. It was an All Might movie that recently came out and Izuku forced Kacchan to watch it again. He called Izuku a fanboy and said it was stupid, but deep down he let his boyfriend win. Not only because he wanted Izuku to enjoy himself, but because he was excited about the movie too. Izuku wasn’t the only fanboy in the room.

They lay side by side with Katsuki’s computer lying on the bed between them. Slowly but surely Izuku wiggled his way toward Kacchan until they were touching shoulders.

But he didn’t stop there. He slowly wrapped his arm around Kacchan’s frame beside him. Katsuki rolled his eyes. Izuku was trying to be nonchalant, and he didn't fully settle into this new position until 20 minutes into the movie. He thought he was being slick, that by going agonizingly slow Katsuki wouldn’t even realize what he was doing.

He did.

Katsuki wasn’t exactly the affectionate type, and would never initiate stuff like that. Izuku was always the one who would start their physical contact. But Izuku was still worried that Katsuki would push him away, which is why he always moved with subtlety. They hadn’t been dating for too long, but they were dating nonetheless. Katsuki thought Izuku must be stupid if he thought he didn’t like it.

(But maybe Izuku was right. Katsuki would never admit it, but if he got too flustered, he would probably push Izuku off. His heart couldn’t handle as much as he’d like to think.)

So finally, half an hour after they started the movie, Izuku’s hand moved up from Katsuki’s waist and onto his shoulder. He shifted slightly, moving most of his weight onto him, and leaning into the blond.

Katsuki knew what was next. It was almost a routine at this point.

Everything up until now had been calculated carefully by Izuku so that Katsuki wouldn’t notice. Izuku might have miscalculated a little, but everything he was doing was planned. Now, he was getting engrossed in the movie. His body started moving on its own.

This was the thing that Izuku tried to keep a secret. That he would never admit to anyone.

His hand moved from Kacchan’s shoulder and into the blond hair that he loved so much. That he always longed to touch before they got together but never thought he would get the chance to. This was like an urge from the deepest part of his soul, something he had tried to suppress for so long, and that he had thought he would have to suppress forever. But now that wasn’t the case, and everything was happening involuntarily, forcing its way out.

He twirled little pieces of Kacchan’s hair around his scarred fingers, ran his hands through it, and marveled at its softness even though it looked so sharp.

Katsuki never knew what to do when this happened. He just sat completely still, allowing Izuku to touch him however he wanted. His heart pounded, and to try and defend himself against his own brain, he had to say something. Otherwise, he’d just succumb to his feelings, and he didn’t want Izuku to see him get all flustered.

“You really have to be touching me at all times, nerd?” Katsuki teased. It wasn’t the first time he commented on Izuku’s habit, but it was amusing to him that Izuku just kept doing it, no matter how embarrassed he looked after being confronted.

Izuku flushed, pushing his free hand over his face and dropping the other back onto Kacchan’s shoulder awkwardly. “Kacchan! Don’t say that…”

Katsuki just smirked slyly in return, turning his focus back on the computer screen.

Izuku eventually started up again, but this time, his free hand hooked onto his own chin. He mumbled, loudly, as he always did when watching a movie about All Might—there were so many facts, comments, and theories running through his head that he just couldn’t help it.

Katsuki didn’t say anything this time. He normally yelled at Izuku for mumbling, since it was so annoying and bothersome when he was trying to do anything. How was he supposed to focus on a thing when he did that?

But that was before they got together. After he discovered his feelings, well… maybe he was confusing how he felt for anger when it was really something else. Maybe he couldn’t focus for another reason, not because the mumbling was that distracting.

And now he sat, his hair being played with and Izuku’s voice droning on absentmindedly in his ear, just letting it happen. Everything was so new between them, and he just wanted Izuku to never stop. So he shut his mouth for once.

Maybe Izuku wasn’t the only one with a secret.
