"We have twenty-four hours, so live tonight however you want!" Charlie steps down from the stage in front of the crowd.
Angel smiles at Husk who smiles back enthusiastically. Angel blushes and follows Husk inside the hotel. Angel sits on one of the stools while Husk slides behind the bar, already making Angel his usual.
Angel sips his drink, his eyes not leaving Husk’s face.
"Surprised you aren't snorting a line off some hunks abs." Husk says, pouring himself a drink.
"Eh, you've fucked one cannibal pool boy you've fucked them all." Angel shrugs. "I'd rather be spending my time with you honestly."
Husk blushes and smiles, hiding his face in his drink.
They spend the rest of the night talking, flirting, and growing closer.
The next day they're standing with everyone else, anxiously awaiting the onslaught of angels.
Husk looks over at Angel nervously. "Hey, Legs." Angel makes eye contact with him and Husk has to make a conscious effort not to blush. "I want to tell you that I-"
"Hey, tell me afta we win, yeah?" Angel interrupts him.
"But-"
"GUYS HERE THEY ARE!" Charlie yells, angels suddenly blacking out the sky.
The next hour passes in a blur for Husk, he isn't 100% sure what happened, it's all just dodging blasts and killing angels.
Until he spots a blur of pink. He watches Angel save one of Sir Pentious' little egg bois from an Exorcist.
Something about Angel being protective makes Husk smile. Angel spots him and smiles back.
Then everything stops. There's a flash of light and a loud boom. Husk tries to reorient himself, dodging an Exorcist blade just in time.
And soon the battle is over, Adam is dead and the Exorcists are gone.
Husk can't help but smile, breathing a sigh of relief. And without really thinking about it, he looks around for a familiar spider only to come up empty.
He starts looking through the wreckage, getting more frantic by the second. He spies a flash of pink and his heart soars as he races towards it.
He rummages through the dirt until he uncovers... Fat Nuggets. Who snorts up at him happily. Husk falls to his knees, holding the pig up to his chest.
The hotel was rebuilt in no time and Husks' bar looks better than ever. They had a little opening night party, and of course, Husk is the one catering.
During a lull in the business, Husk starts automatically making a custom cocktail.
It doesn't hit him until he places it on the bar that there's no one to drink it anymore.
He stares at the pink liquid sitting in the glass, feeling empty in a way he knows alcohol won't fill. But he's not past trying. So he picks up another bottle and opens it, wanting more than anything to drown out the memories of a flirty voice and the smile he would sell his soul (again) to see one last time.
After everyone had left, Husk roams the halls until he gets to Angel's door. He opens the door and shuts it quietly behind him. Curling up with one of Angel's pillows, Husk can't help but let a few tears fall. The realization that the pillows are starting to smell more like him than Angel makes a sob rip through him.
"You stupid fuck." Husk growls, punching the pillow. "It wasn't supposed to end like this. You weren't suppo-" He's cut off by another sob, muffling it in the pillow.
I was supposed to tell you that I love you.
