Chapter Text
Heaven is… boring.
In all honestly, when Angel died, he was not expecting to appear in front of the Pearly Gates. And yet, when he opened his eyes he was there. He looked different, with pink fur covering him instead of skin. He also seemed to be a lot taller, like three extra feet, but other than that he was pretty much the same.
He was excited, honestly, to be in Heaven. Once he got over his initial shock, he was overjoyed.
For about a week.
After that, he found out that Heaven, as magical as it is, is quite uneventful. Sure, he’s never had a bad day and he’s always happy but he’s constantly bored.
He sort of missed bad days, the days where negativity would be all-encompassing because he would be something other than pleasantly bored.
So after almost a year of being dead, he decided to break the rules a little bit.
There weren’t a lot of rules in Heaven that weren’t just plain common sense.
- When the head Seraphim's are in a meeting, they are not to be disturbed NO MATTER WHAT
- You may go anywhere, except the palace.
That’s it—two simple rules. However, Angel’s always been a curious guy. So one day, while the Seraphim were in their yearly meeting, Angel snuck up until he was right outside the door.
For Heaven, they have surprisingly thin walls. Angel could pretty much hear the entire conversation. Angel presses his ear against the door to listen.
“Adam, do you have enough numbers this year?” The voice was slightly muffled by the door but it sounded like the head Seraphim, Sera.
“I could use one or two more but I’m pretty much set, those fuckers won’t know what’s comin’.” Adam, the first man and biggest asshole ever is who responds.
“Okay, it’s just for twenty-four hours. Please don’t go overboard. And I think we should also d-“ It seems that in addition to the obnoxiously thin walls, the doors also don’t close properly in Heaven.
Angel had the chance to whisper a quick “Oh fuck.” before falling through the doors and onto the ground.
“Angel?! What are you doing?!” Sera yells at him from the front of the room.
“Ooooh shit.” Adam chuckles, looking positively delighted at this turn of events.
“I-I’m sorry! I didn’t mean ta-“
“There are only two rules and you somehow have broken both of them at the same time!” Sera starts walking towards Angle, still yelling.
“Sera,” Adam calls out, now inspecting Angel.
“What, Adam?” Sera growls, obviously beyond pissed.
Adam comes to stand next to Sera, looking down at Angel who is still on the floor. “Look, I said I needed one or two more exorcists. I’ve seen this kid, he knows how to fight. He’s agile. After some training, he would make a good exorcist.”
Sera bites her lip in thought before nodding curtly. “Fine. But if he doesn’t live up to your words, he has to be punished.”
Adam smiles. “Got it.”
“Wait, what’s happenin’?” Angel asks, thoroughly confused.
Turns out, every year a group of angels known as ‘exorcists’ go down to Hell to kill as many demons and sinners as they can.
And after one mistake, Angel was one of them.
