Chapter Text
He sits up slowly and inspects his blood covered hands, before turning his head to look at the bodies which surround him. It's possible they could still be alive, he should go and check, but somehow - he doesn't know how - he's very sure that they're dead.
And, deep inside, there's something satisfying about that knowledge.
He pokes at that part of himself, investigating it, but it doesn't change and he leaves it for later. He might be some kind of mass murderer, but he has more important priorities right now.
First and foremost, staying alive.
Where is he? What was he doing here? Why are all these people dead?
Most importantly, who is he?
And how does he get home?
It takes him a few tries to stand up, his head hurts when he moves, but he manages it with the help of a friendly tree. He pats the bark gently, acknowledging its assistance, and staggers off, feeling his strength come back with every step he takes towards the east.
He doesn't know how he knows it’s east, he doesn't know what he's heading towards, but he's certain this is the way to go.
It just.... feels familiar.
And that's good enough for now.
