Chapter Text

John dory pov:

I wished I could forget and maybe I could start anewbut I cant do that to my brothers and if I forget what would happen?

'why care?, they surely didnt', a voice achoes in my head and I stop walking "what the?, whos there?!" I shout a bit confused no one is there am I hearing things?.

'they didnt care for the sacrifices you made for them and all you asked was for them to listen to you, all for their sake',that true. . . Wait what no!!, thats not true they care they do!!, 'if that true why did you abandoned them?', I feel my body tense eyes going wide I cant remember why I did because we fought?, but we always fought ever since brozone was made. . . Is brozone why we. . . No that not it, 'it because of them right you hate them so you left'

"No that is not true I. . .its because of . . .of" I felt speechless realization sinking in it because of me thats why I ruined this family I'm the cause even though I promised them I would always be there for them I left. . . 'Thats right, you left them and now theyre DEAD'.

I gasp my tail curls between my legs as I finally remember what day it is well should be anyways, it was trollstice!, his brothers. . . "GLITTERBUGS!!" I sprint to get back to the troll tree heart racing and head spiraling except I could only get there three days after trollstice and it was during did I see the ghost town the troll tree had turned into.

It was empty parts of the ground were dug up and you can see some marking of clawed hands digging it up not only that some of the pods were on the ground wrecked, I couldnt believe it is everyone dead?, I sprint sneaked my way to our pod our home and saw . . . Nothing no grandma no brothers nothing, but objects of sentimental value.

"Grandma?, Spruce?, Clay, Floyd?" I feel my heartbeat trumming unrythmetically speeding through the inside of ym skull, I took a shaky breath starting to lose my sense of breathing rythm "Bi-. . .Bitty B?, bitty B" I collosape to the floor feeling the way it gets harder breath "g- guys please . . . No" My voice cracks as I try to hold in the forming tears in my eyes

Ithe moonlights seeps into the pods revealing john dory more skin turning dull and grey as he grieves for his lost family

"I'm sorry I shouldn't have left it's my fault" I look at tears starting to fall breath hitching as I look at a photo by a drawer and I cry sobbing my tail curls around my waist ears dropping down, theyre gone and I will never get to talk to them and apologize hug them and see them grow up and laugh with each other never again this really is

No they have to be alive they have to be I will not accept it If they are truely dead, I try to stand up but I fall exhausted then I finally remembered how I never stopped at all try to get back here I tried multple time but I just couldnt muster the energy to stand so instead I pass out from exhausstion and fell asleep till the next day came.

Third Pov:

Rays of sunlight awakens John's slumber for a moment he doesnt realize where he is until he looks up to see it, the furniture where his brothers would sit in would it on and would talk at, the picture on the walls drawers and the few stuff his brothers and grandma owned

Tears we forming in his eyes again but he wipes them away and he starts to stand up and he grabs a picture from the drawers the one he saw last night a picture of him and his brothers even his grandma was there. He takes its out of frame and put it in the pocket of his jacket "I'll find them no matter what" he states determination burning on his tired and puffy eyes

He was about to grab a few more but suddenly everything shook and he hears a seemingly giant figure near "Bergen!", he whispers alarmed fur pricking up, tail swishing in agitation and ears pinned back

"Im not dying till I find My family!", he decides to leave the pod incase the bergen spots him inside and destroys it but of course this action gets him found

"TROLL!!" A bergen shouts and as if that was not bad enough he sees the chef nearby, john dory swore glitterbug under his breath (a habit he got as to not influence little brothers with bad words) "GET THAT TROLLLLL!!!" The chef bergen shreiks more than shout and every single bergen there started to move and chase after him.

John dory tried his best using every fiber of his being to get away from them swivling corners of the streets dodging and even fighting back by throwing stuff at them. A vergen gets really close at him, he grabs a nearby by pot with his and uses ash much stregnth that he can muster thorws it at the bergens face, the bergen shouts jn pain cursing another bergen decides to try and grab him from behind but john dory grabs a sign with his hair lifts himself away. The chase went on for hours and he had his limits sprinting with bated breaths and the worse headaches he can imagine he was not able to dodge the bergens hand that grabs him and squeezes hard making scream in shocked pain the bergen shouts lifting his hand in the squeezing him hard, "ARGH!!, STOP SQUEEZING ME YOU OVERGROWN GRUMP!", the bergen holding him doesnt listen and starts to bring john dory towards his in attempts to eat this causes john to squirm and decides to bite, "OWW!!" the bergen shouts and lets go of him by accident. John wanted sprint his energy was already spent it wasnt long before he got caught again this time by the chef themself.

"NO,NO LET ME GO " John dory shouts desperately squirming trying to get away with all of his remaining energy straining his body and hurting him more than doing any good to help him get away, "HAhahahaha now the king will be pleased" chef bergen sqyeezes john tight bringing his finger on john dory his this hurts john dory grimacing "Prince Grisle's first troll this will give the favor thay raise to thw top once more" the chef laughs like a madman and he calls to another bergen who seems to be working for them holding a cage.

John gets thrown into the inside of the cage shouting in pain from the violent throw, he stand up feeling drained and pain all over his tiny body he grabs the bars of the tiny cage that he was thrown into looking at all the hungry eyes of the bergens surounding him and he glares at them with so much hatred 'how dare they take my . . . No theyre alive stop thinking that john!' He scolds himself for thinking that his family was dead he will not accept that not ever.

He looks at the bergens surounding him again more pointedly at thw chef at frowns and wonders 'What will happen to him?'.

Chapter Text

He hates it here, the smell of some weird soup the sound of knives cutting, stoves turning on and pots being stirred he hated here and he wants to leave, he NEEDS to leave for his brothers, for his family.

The bergen holding him before sets his cage down by the next to a stove, john observes his surroundings already planning to escape as soon as he finds the oppurtunity, in the distance john hears some idle between what he assumes is the chef, an adult and a child.

"DO I REALLY GET TO EAT A TROLL, CAN I REALLY BE HAPPY FINALLY?!" The voice of a child questions excitedly and john wonders if the child even realize the joy in his excitement, "Yes prince grisle you will I had promised you the princess but joy is joy is it not?", 'princess?, are they talking aboyt princess viva or princess poppy?' John frowns not liking the conversation he hears.

The three bergens are finakly in johns full view and he glares at them, "Ugh, are you this one is good?,its so dull and greyish unlike the other trolls I've seen" the king complains to the chef who looks at john and john looks back

'Grey?, who him?' He looks down to see that his colors are infact mostly dull and grey, he gasp 'when did thay happen?!' He puts gis hands infront his face to look at it more he didn't realize he had turned he doesn't even when it happened.

"Dont worry your highness although grey and dull. . ." The chef says as if hesitant and the king furrows his eyebrows at that eyws narrowing with suspicion "prince grisle will exprience the great joy that we all crave" he gesture to Grisle who his jumping up and down excitedly and john, john looks at them as if theyre crazy 'can they not that he is already knowing he can eat me?' He thinks to himself as if knowing that the bergens may not even believe him if says so.

"Alright then you better cook him uo nicely then this is My sons very first troll and probably the last so it better the he'll evrr have", john thinks how doting that sounds but brushes it off reminding him that they are bergens, he looks at prince grisle he looks so happy he almost feels bad but he needs to stay alive for his brothers and so he starts to plan.

As the three bergens converse some more he observes the cage and any sign possible escape routes, by the right near the hallway he sees an slightly open window but its too far away and there too many bergens on that side, he looks at he hallway too many gaurds with his current condition he will get caught immediately

He looks some more and saw that there are no more escapes routes other than the window that he saw he forwns at that, he moves to grab and observe the condition of the cage, its abit thick but exremely rusty of age if uses a ton of force there a slight chace that he can break but he will need lots of stregnth for that and he thinks for a while feeling a bit hopeless and he signs "F/€k it".

He backs up and slams his whole body with everything his got left in him and the cage fly over to the next counter hittjng a counter altimately breaking it apart, "WHAT WAS THAT NOISE?!" The chef shouts and john dory dashes to the hallway before any of yhe surrounding could react fast enough, bergen chef sees him along with the king and prince the gasp looking sad "GET THAT TROLL NOW" the king shouts the the chef bergen and every single one of them starts chasjng after john.

John runs and runs looking for an exit his legs hurt and its hard to breath but he cant stop, he turn to thw corner bergens on his tail he sees an open and goes for it without a single thought

He jumos high and land on the window sill he looks down and sees a flag pole nearby he jumps and uses to hear to grab onto the and swing off sliding down the rooftops as he hears the shouts and clattering footsteps of the bergens below him he aventually see the wall nearring him and he jumps off the rooftop landing on top of the wall

He sees a sea of bergens below some of them are even trying to climb up to him what they expect is for him to jump and use their heads to step on and get away from, this causes more chaos some getting entangled with each other as they try to get him

It wasnt long till he found an upportunate time to get up the rooftops again by this time it was already noon and john was tired to the point that he was feeling sorta numb on his legs but stopping wont help and dashes from rooftop and aventually his in the forest syill running the footstpes of bergens were long gone but he didnt stops heart beating so fast like it was running on moto and his ears were ringing he wasnt just tired he was scared and he ran and ran and ran he ran to the point he didnt even see the cliff he running towards until he was allready falling screaming for his dear life and at that very moment as he was falling did he see his brothers and grandma smiling at him.

A resounding thud was heard john dory fell and as john looks up at the darkening sky he thinķs about his brothers and grandma will he survive?, he wonder if he will, if he could his family , if they could be happy again, if they forgive him and will they miss if he dies he closes his eyes to rest thinking of his family does

Meanwhile in the nearby bushes a strange creature watches him as he passes out on the cold dirt and approaches him sniffing and poking at him john only grunts at the prodding of the strange animal

It stops and opted to just sit and stare at his face waiting for him awaken.

This fanfic ìs under the process of being reworked and rewrite by me which will take a long while and I'm sorry for any inconviniece this brings I hope you are to be patient for any updates I make

The new reworked fanfic for this au will be renamed as shards of your memories which may be changed in the future although I'm still debating on that
