Chapter Text
The last thing that he heard was the crackling of the flames surrounding him as he sat in his underground office along with his Uncle’s voice, booming over the stereo.
This was finally the end…
They could all finally rest in peace after everything his Father had done…
If there was an afterlife he’d be okay as long as his Father was in Hell.
He was fine with this…
He was fine with things ending here…
He certainly didn’t expect to wake up after that arduous and painful death he had just experienced. He slowly stood to his feet, feeling as if something was wrong with his body. It was the same feeling he got after he had become a corpse; that this body didn’t belong to him and yet it did.
Why was that?
His gaze moved upwards to the dark sky above him and the black almost demonic gates before him.
“Michael Afton…” A creature called his name, looking through a large book while sitting behind a desk of sorts. The creature’s skin was red with large black and white horns atop its head with a dark suit to go with the atmosphere surrounding the two.
“Uh … where exactly am I?” He asked, rubbing the back of his neck in nervousness only to feel … fur?
“I get asked that all the time…” the creature sighed, almost sounding bored. “Welcome to Hell basically.”
Michael blinked at hearing this.
He had a good idea of why he’d be here.
He hadn’t exactly been a good person in his youth.
But he’d had some hope that what he did with his Uncle would’ve been seen as redeemable.
He guessed that he would’ve had to do more good things in his life before he had died.
“How does one end up here?” Michael asked the creature; now realising it was most probably a demon.
If he was here then his Father had to be too.
He had to be…
His siblings couldn’t be here.
They died way too young and were innocent.
Unless it counted what they did while possessing animatronics as well.
Then that changed things…
“No one knows.”
“You don’t know what gets someone down here?” Michael asked, unsure of how he was supposed to react to that answer.
“No.” The demon flipped a page and a demonic grin plastered itself onto its face. “However it’s obvious when I see their crimes why they’re before me.”
Michael instantly shrinks in on himself, knowing what crimes the demon is mentioning.
“Let’s see here: arson, attempted patricide, fratricide, bullying, vandalism, breaking and entering, shoplifting and more.” The demon gave Michael an unsettling grin after reading all of that. “I understand why you’re here now.”
Michael swallowed, turning his gaze away from the demon and to the floor. “I get it. I messed up and I’m here because of it.” He lifted his head up; a fire in his eyes. “As long as that fucker is here too. I don’t give half a damn.”
The demon blinked, surprised at the response before a smirk spread across its face. “Well, sorry to say but you’re the only Afton I’ve seen recently. One came through a few years ago. He had this look in his eye that a lot of the residents here get now and then.”
Michael blinked again at hearing this.
He?
Did that mean Evan was here too?
Why?
His brother did nothing wrong in life to deserve eternal damnation.
Why was he here?
“So, no Elizabeth or William Afton?” Michael asked, spitting his Father’s name out like it was pure venom.
“Not that I can see here. Sorry. They might come in later.”
Michael grit his teeth together as fury raged inside of him.
That wasn’t good enough.
If his brother was here then sure enough his sister will end up here too probably after him at some point.
However if his Father had somehow survived the fire then what was all the planning that he and Henry had done for?
It would’ve been a waste.
If his Father had survived one fire who’s to say he couldn’t survive another?
And now that he’s here and Henry was dead too there would be no one left to stop William.
Well, no one with any connection to him that knew anything of the Fazbear franchise history.
It made him sick.
Frustrated.
Angry.
Why was his life all about constantly picking up after his Father’s mess?
“Now this is technically you’re birth certificate for arriving in Hell.” The demon put a piece of parchment down in front of Michael along with a pen. “You can go by the name you had in life or scrap that for something else.”
Michael stared at the parchment with confused and conflicted thoughts. He wanted to write his own name down so that he’d be able to reunite with Evan again, but if his brother was truly upset about his death he wouldn’t want to see Michael. He didn’t know how he’d react to seeing Elizabeth again either.
This also gave him another chance to start anew.
Sure, it was Hell but it gave him to maybe stop looking back on the last past.
He shook his head with a light tsk. As if he would stop doing that. Whenever he looked back on the past it made him understand what he did wrong and allow him to change.
So, even though he’d changed for the better … he still went to Hell.
“Oh right, you get a new appearance here too. You’re not human anymore.” This caused Michael to look up from the parchment to stare at the demon with wide eyes. “You’re what humans call a … fox I believe.”
That totally wouldn’t add to his pile of trauma while down here.
He hadn’t touched his Foxy mask in years only kept it as a firm reminder of what he’d done.
Michael groaned, facepalming. “Great…” he turned his attention back to the golden paper before letting out a sigh, grabbing the pen and writing a new name down.
If he had a new appearance then it was better to start anew in Hell.
If there were people from his time period or after down here he really didn’t want to catch attention when people heard the name ‘Afton’.
That probably didn’t mean no one knew about what happened up on the living world, but he wanted to get as far away from his living name as possible.
And this gives him a chance to…
Once he was done with the paper it was snatched away from him by the demon; who read over the name in bewilderment. “Reynard’, huh? It fits ya!” The demon cracked up laughing causing a low growl to escape Michael.
“Can we just get this over with?”
“Sure…” The demon rolled up the parchment and placed it amongst a bunch of others in a drawer before opening the gate for Michael to walk through. “Go on through.”
Michael looked back, still hesitant but received a thumbs-up from the demon. He took in a deep breath before continuing on into the darkness.
The demon let out a stuttering sigh as Michael was finally gone and closed the gates. “Damn those Aftons. They’ve been dead for so long who knows how powerful they’ll be down there.” The demon leaned back in his chair, relaxing almost. “Anyways, it’s not my problem. I’m just the door man.”
