Chapter Text
James squirmed uncomfortably as he felt the dull pain of getting tattooed that had become familiar over the nine years since he turned 18. This was a particularly uncomfortable spot though, and his friend Remus was getting irritated.
“James! Stop moving, I’m going to mess up.” James’s mother Euphemia had passed away two years ago and today was the anniversary of her passing, so James was getting a pink orchid tattoo to commemorate as they had been her favorite flower.
“James, seriously, sit still!” Remus huffed, clearly very annoyed.
“Remus.” James whined. “I’m sorryyy, I’m trying, it’s a weird spot.” “You picked it!!”
“Well it’s where my mother had her sun tattoo that she got for me!” James huffed right back, continuing to wiggle. Remus started talking again but James had stopped listening, his eyes had gone to the door and, consequently, the boy who had just walked through it.
James’s mouth went slack, along with the rest of his body as he took the gorgeous boy in. He had pale ivory skin, despite it being the middle of summer, and flawless dark curls. He also had the prettiest sharp grey eyes James had ever seen. “Holy shit.” James muttered. Remus glanced curiously at him. “Why are you listening to me for once?” James blinked back at him, realizing he had gone completely still. Remus looked back at him and then at the door. “Ah.” He said, looking back at James with a smirk. “I take it you didn’t know he was working here now?” James stared back at him in confusion, before glancing back at the boy. He then took in the sharp cheekbones that, at second glance, did seem familiar. James’s eyes went about as wide as they could go before he grabbed Remus’s shoulders and started whisper-yelling at him so as not to alert the boy to his attentions.
“That’s Regulus Black?!?!” He whispered sharply as Remus grinned and nodded. “Haven’t seen him in a while, have you?” James continued to stare at him dumbly before standing up, brushing himself off, and walking over to Regulus, who had actually heard every word in the very small tattoo parlor. “James.” He greeted curtly, although Remus thought the effect was lessened by the smirk he shot at James, before handing him a piece of paper and walking back out of the shop before James could get a word in edge wise.
“Holy shit.” James said again as he sat back down and allowed Remus to finally continue working on his tattoo.
“What?” Remus asked.
“He gave me his number.”
