[Coastal Tides Anthology Part 2]

Work Text:

Summer heat wasn't for the weak, especially Fyodor. Being a transfer student from his cold country was tiring but his parents seemed eager to experience summer, he still hated it; the hot sun, the noisy people, and especially his annoying rival from school. His mother advised him to relax more and not to worry about both Dazai and Chuuya being here.

The cooling night breeze brushed through his body. Despite being in a tropical town Fyodor still wore his usual thick clothing. He preferred the beach when it was nighttime because nobody would be there, and it would just be him and the wind. His shoes left footprints on the sand, washed away from the shore just seconds later. His eyes wandered to a pile of pebbles near the rock pool; a small colourful pebble stood out to him. It was white with a nice painting of a little circus tent on it.

Coastal Tides may have seemed like a fun place for others, but to Fyodor it was boring, and now he finally had something worth doing in the small town, tracking down whoever painted on that pebble.

Little by little he had been collecting the painted pebbles hidden on the beach. He eventually had a jar of them.

The free birds were still there, Nikolai realized that no matter where he goes for his short escapades the birds in the sunny skies would always be at a higher level of freedom, unknowingly taunting him. He had hated the private boarding school he was sent to; so when summer break came he set off to find a peaceful town full of art and colours. He signed up for painting classes and picked up pebbles from the beach to decorate, he would later hide them back into the pile they came from.

So far, most of the pebbles went missing and he had a sneaking suspicion on who took it.

Turns out he was wrong, Dazai wasn't the culprit; but he did point out a new suspect named Fyodor. Who was he exactly?

Fyodor found himself back on the shores of the almost empty beach, a tall figure with long braided hair was arranging something in the pile of pebbles.

Fyodor stepped closer and realized the man was the one he was looking for, the one who painted on all of those rocks.

They held eye contact for a moment before the guy reached his hand out to Fyodor and smiled, giving him a rock with a rainbow painted on it.

"You must be Fyodor!"
