Chapter Text
A quick warning before we begin! This chapter gets a little violent and there is a brief description of blood. If that bothers you, then please skip it!
Aside from that, it's showtime!

Limbo city in the modern world is certainly different from the olden days.
The first example that would come to any supernatural creature's mind, is the lack of hunters threatening to slaughter them at every turn.
The second example would be the number of romance novels written about supernatural creatures.
Or about how advanced the city has gotten.
Seriously though, the amount of romance novels is insane. Like, dear God.
Prospero sitting at a bar, did not dare dwell on the past. He welcomed the modern age with open arms.
He would like to change a few things, otherwise, he was happy.
Thus why he found himself at some new local pub run by some purple-haired woman.
Annabel had for some ungodly reason insisted on going out pubbing tonight.
Much to the younger vampire's dismay, he was forcefully dragged along with her.
Now the two sat at the counter, eyes glued to the TV watching the price right at night. Booing at anyone who dared to one-up the other contestants.
" Looks like our one upper friend is making it to the showcase " Annabel drawled, taking a sip of her bloody Mary.
" Tis a shame, " Prospero replied, sipping his drink. " Let's pray he doesn't win "
Annabel snorted, turning her attention back towards the telly. " It's possible he could overbid. "
Prospero snorted, setting his bloody Mary down on the counter " him overbidding is even less likely. Just like the odd of a double showcase happening. "
Annabel shrugged her shoulders, not turning her attention away from the telly "We both know it's possible, Prospero. "
Prospero snorted once more, closing his eyes. " Remind me again why we couldn't watch the price is right at home? "
" Because I'm looking out for someone. " Annabel replied excitedly " I'm sure you've heard of that new hunter right? "
" The raven, correct? " He asked, still not opening his eyes. He could practically feel Annabel beaming with excitement beside him. " Please tell me you're not interested in that Hunter, Annabel? "
Annabel giggled excitedly beside him " Of course I'm interested! She seems like the perfect challenge! Or, perhaps the perfect plaything. "
The doctor sighed softly, deciding this was the perfect time to tune out Annabel. He rarely got times like this.
The ability to tone out Annabel when she spoke about the mysterious raven was strangely easy. He never knew why it was, nor did he dare question it.
It was simply easier that way.
Instead of focusing his attention on his bad friend, it was focused on the dirty blonde gazing at him from across the bar.
For some unknown reason, the vampire felt drawn to the mortal.
Ah, he must've been hungry. That has to be it.
Annabel snickered, wiggling her eyebrows at Prospero " It appears you have an admirer, my friend "
Prospero scoffed, rolling his eyes " More like dinner. "
Annabel snickered louder " Dinner and a show "
The other creature blinked slowly, his mouth a gape " What? On earth are you talking about, Annabel? "
The pink-eyed vampire toyed with her drink " He's flirting with you. "
" He most certainly is not! "
" Oh? Then why is he coming towards us? " Annabel teased, her eyes flickering between the approaching mortal and Prospero.
“ Howdy there partner, “ the mortal said, sliding into the seat next to Prospero. “ Can I buy you a drink perchance? “
Prospero toyed with his glove, contemplating his options. “ Sure, a Bloody Mary. “
The mortal nodded, raising his hand to order Prospero's drink. “ Seem like a perfect drink for you, love “
Prospero scoffed, rolling his eyes “Silence you. “
The mortal chuckled “ Names Montresor, my friends call me Monty. “
“ Nice to meet you, I'm Prospero. “
Montresor chuckled, holding out his hand “Care to dance, darling? “
Prospero chuckled softly, ignoring the loud snickering from Annabel. “ Sure why not? “
Montresor’s eyes lit up as he grabbed Prospero’s hand, leading him outside.
The chilly night air was a perfect gift from the warmth of the bar. Way too many people and far too much noise.
Montresor led Prospero a few feet away from the bar, towards the park across the street.
The vampire chuckled softly to himself, tilting his head to admire the beauty of the park. “ Why are you leading me here, Montresor? “
The cowboy chuckled, leading the supernatural creature towards a group of trees. “ Just wanted us to be alone. Don't want us to be interrupted ya know? “
Prospero smiled softly watching his dance partner pull out his phone to select a song for them to dance along with.
Truth be told, he was surprised at himself for allowing him to be touched or led away like this.
Don't be ridiculous, he was only allowing this because he needed to feed. Yes, that's it. He was just hungry.
Once Montresor had selected the song, a country song of sorts. He strolled back over to Prospero, holding out his hand.
The vampire took his hand, reminding himself that this won't last much longer.
Once both gentlemen were comfortable, they began their waltz, our country waltz of sorts.
They waltzed in comfortable silence for a while, the silence broken by brief conversations. Otherwise, everything was perfect.
Until it wasn't.
Montresor let out a low chuckle, breaking the silence around them.
“ What's so funny, Montresor? “ Prospero asked with a head tilt.
Montresor let out another low chuckle “ This certainly has been one of the better dates I've been on. “
“ Is that so? “ Prospero asked, spinning Monty around in a circle.
Montresor nodded, taking his chance to dip the vampire. “ Certainly. Shame it's gotta end “
“ Whatever do you- keep! “ Prospero grunted in pain, his body crashing down on the plush grass below. “ M-Montresor what on earth are you doing?! “
Montresor smirked, a low laugh escaping his lips. “ Taking care of business. “ He quickly pinned Prospero’s wrists above his head, pulling out a sliver blade out of his pocket.
Prospero violently thrashed beneath Montresor, the truth of who Montresor was crashing down onto him like a tidal wave.
The vampire hunter laughed, stabbing his blade into Prospero’s hand, giggling in delight as the vampire howled in pain.
Prospero screwed his eyes closed tightly, trying to distract him from the blood seeping out of his hand. He mustn't think of it, mustn't see it. Or it would be his downfall.
Montresor grabbed his other hand, plunging another blade into his hand. “ Not putting up a fight, pretty boy? This a shame. You looked like a fighter. “
Prospero offered no response to the hunter, trying to free himself from the blades bounding him to the ground. Bounding him to his doom.
He couldn't focus, the blood seeping from his hands had captured his attention. And held onto it like a snake wrapping around its victim.
“ Well, this has certainly been fun. “ Montresor drawls, grown bored of Prospero’s torment.
“ Thanks for the lovely time. “ Montresor told the vampire, raising a third blade ready to strike. “ I'll treasure our time together. “
Prospero couldn't focus on the hunter's words, he was focused on the pain, screwing his eyes closed tightly. He wanted everything to stop. Needed it too.
“ Darling, what are you doing laying on the filthy ground? “ A familiar voice asked from the darkness. '' Common, I've dealt with the hunter. “
Prospero’s eyes snapped open, focusing on the voice in front of him.
Once his attention focused, he found Annabel Lee standing before him holding a broken bar stool.
Montresor lay on the ground next to her, a pool of blood forming next to him.
“ D-Did you- “
“ Kill him? “ Annabel asked, tossing her weapon atop Montresor. “ Unfortunately not. Decided to be merciful for once. “
Prospero nods, his gaze focusing on his now freed hands.
Annabel sighs softly, carefully wrapping a towel around Prospero’s hands. “ Let's get you cleaned up, dear “
The other vampire nodded, Allowing the curly blonde-haired vampire to help him up off the ground, and lead him towards the park gate.
This night couldn't get any worse.
“ Hey! “ A voice snarled from behind the two vampires. “ Stop right there! “
The two vampires glanced over their shoulders, taking in the sight of a raven-haired woman shouting at them.
Annabel purrs “So pet, I don't have time to play right now. “
The Raven-haired woman ignored Annabel, choosing to charge at her instead.
Annabel scoffed, rolling her eyes “ Prospeo, hop onto my back. I'm using one of our smoke bombs.
Prospero nodded, climbing onto Annabel's back. He was always surprised at how Annabel could always carry him without issue.
Annabel dug around in her pockets, eventually finding what she needed.
“ It's been a pleasure, pet! “ Annabel yelled, tossing the smoke bomb onto the ground.
The Raven-haired woman stopped in her tracks, watching the pair disappear into the darkness.
“ Dammit. “ She hissed glaring at the empty spot. “ Sigh, how the hell am I going to explain this to the boss? “
One thing the two vampires and the hunters knew was they would be seeing each other again. Except not in the way they all expected.

Alright, that's enough.
Apologies if the ending is dreadful. I've grown tired of writing more like rewriting this blasted chapter multiple times.
Trust me when I say this ending is better than the others.
And because I grew tired of writing about Monty.
The bar stool was definitely not an indication of that. I don't know what you're talking about darlings.
Aside from that, it'll probably be a bit before I update this fic.
I want to brush up on my vampier knowledge and just some minor things before I post the next chapter. Yes, you heard me the next chapter. There will be more.
Aside from that, I'ma end it off here.
I do hope you all enjoyed this chapter!
