Two men and a baby

Summary:

"Sorry little bro, I can't help you here. You do love him and he is very oblivious." Dean shrugged, placing the last plate down.

Work Text:

Adam laughed as Michael poked the fake baby with his pencil again.

"Why are you acting like this baby is the spawn of Satan?"

"It may as well be. Why do we have to look after it?" Michael sighed.

"He's called Nico and we have to look after him for forty percent of our final grade in this class so stop poking our son with a pencil."

"Do you have to call him our son? He's a plastic doll that is going to ruin my sleeping pattern." Michael huffed, looking down at the fake baby again.

"Gee Michael could you at least pretend to be happy that we have a kid together? When did I become the only one in this marriage who cared?" Adam teased.

"I'm begging you to stop flirting, Mikey is too dense to understand it anyway." Gabriel groaned as he joined them at their lunch table.

"Adam wasn't flirting, he was just joking around because we've been saddled with this fake baby."

Gabriel sighed and gave Adam a knowing look, his brothers obliviousness was painful at this point.

"Definitely joking, that's me, always joking." Adam said with a forced smile.

"Oh cool, it's fake baby time again! Cas and I aced our fake baby project." Dean said with a grin as he joined the table, Castiel following just behind him.

"Well it probably helped that you and Castiel were a couple already." Michael said.

"Our baby, Bobby-John, was the best. I miss the little guy sometimes." Dean mused.

"Please don't come home with a baby anytime soon, I know you are already the Dad of the family but let's not add a baby to that." Adam said, teasing his older brother.

"Being Guardian for you and Sammy is enough for me, don't worry your little head about it." Dean rolled his eyes fondly.

"Dean and I aren't planning to have a baby for another five years at least, eight years at most." Castiel said with a serious expression on his face.

"Why are we talking about future babies?" Anna asked, sitting down next to her twin, Castiel.

"Adam and I have to look after this fake baby." Michael sighed.

"He's called Nico." Adam reminded his best friend again.

"Have you worked out a schedule yet? I'm happy to help make one for you." Anna suggested happily.

"Our side of the family is definitely going to win the best in laws game." Gabriel said smugly.

"That's because there are so many of you. Every time I blink, another Novak appears." Adam pointed out.

"Not our fault that our Dad got busy." Gabriel shrugged and threw a grape at Michael who was glaring at Nico again.

"Hey, don't hit my baby Daddy with a grape." Adam defended, throwing a cube of cheese at Gabriel who annoyingly caught it in his mouth.

----

Adam hesitantly took a step back from his bed and sighed in relief. He would never admit it to Michael but maybe he had a point about Nico being a devil child.

"You look rough kiddo." Dean commented as Adam walked into the kitchen.

"I think the spirit of Chucky possessed Nico just to prove Michael right about this project." Adam groaned, sitting down at the counter with Jo.

"Where is Michael anyway? He's not forcing you to be a single Dad is he?" Dean asked.

"You don't need to protect my honour, Michael is at a family dinner. Which is where I assume Castiel also is."

"Can you not tell by his pout that Cas is busy?" Jo teased Dean.

"Next time I'm testing out new recipes I'm inviting Benny round instead of you." Dean replied.

"You are so bitter when Cas isn't here." Jo said, laughing at Dean's look of defeat.

"What are you making?" Adam asked, trying to steal a bite.

"It's meatloaf. Stop trying to steal a piece, it's not ready." Dean sighed, batting Adam away gently.

"Someone's cranky today." Adam said, sharing a grin with Jo.

"Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and never introduce the two of you, maybe then I'd know what peace is." Dean said.

"You'd miss us if we were gone." Jo shrugged, knocking her shoulder into Adam's when he sat by her.

"Would I really?" Dean asked, taking three plates out of the cupboard.

"Sam not joining us?"

"He's having dinner with Jess' family again." Dean smiled, he was happy for his younger brother.

"Sounds like it's getting serious, seems like you are the only single one here buddy." Jo teased Adam.

"I don't know what Bela sees in you." Adam sighed.

"Hey, be nice to Adam. It's not his fault that he chose the most oblivious person ever as his crush."

"It's not a crush, that sounds so immature." Adam huffed, sitting down at the table.

"That's right, you loooove him." Jo teased again, sitting down opposite Adam.

Adam groaned and looked to Dean for help.

"Sorry little bro, I can't help you here. You do love him and he is very oblivious." Dean shrugged, placing the last plate down.

"And that's coming from the guy that didn't realise Cas was asking him out until the sixth attempt." Jo hummed.

"Why am I catching strays?" Dean huffed.

"I hate both of you." Adam deadpanned.

----

"Is Shark Tale on for you or the kid?" Michael asked, leaning against Adam's door with a grin.

"Shut up, it's a great film." Adam blushed, pausing the movie and sitting up on his bed.

"What are you doing here?" He added on as Michael walked into the room.

"Cas was coming to see Dean so I hitched a ride." Michael hummed.

"Cute glasses by the way."

Adam groaned and took his glasses off, he hated being seen in them.

"So you decided to come over and torment me?"

"Thought I'd check on our demon spawn." Michael corrected, sparing a glance to the doll.

"Well you missed him screeching for a solid thirty minutes, I nearly threw him out of the window a few times."

"I'm sure it wasn't that bad."

"Jo went home mid movie, it was that bad."

"My aunt Amara was at dinner tonight." Michael started, sitting next to Adam on the bed.

"Oh? That's nice, I know how much you look up to her." Adam smiled.

"She asked me how my boyfriend was." Michael said, a complicated look on his face.

"Oh...um, I didn't know you had one?" Adam replied quietly, looking anywhere but Michael.

"Neither did I." Michael laughed nervously.

"When I told her this she looked confused and said she's met you before and I didn't have to hide anything from her." Michael said after a few moments.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make your family dinner awkward! I'll make sure she knows that I'm not your boyfriend." Adam rushed out, blushing even more.

He knew that everyone at school knows about his feelings for Michael but he didn't realise that he was that obvious that someone that only visited twice a year knew.

"Or you could be my boyfriend and the only thing I'd have to correct aunt Amara on is when we got together?" Michael rushed out and stared at Adam with wide eyes, not quite believing he'd said that.

"...but you don't like me like that." Adam slowly said, maybe he'd truly gone insane from Nico's crying.

"I've liked you like that for a lot longer than I realised apparently." Michael corrected and reached for Adam's hands.

"I've been informed by my siblings that I'm oblivious and that everyone but me knew that we liked each other."

"You are definitely painfully oblivious at times." Adam laughed, relaxing into the touch.

"So, you do like me then?" Michael asked.

"Yes you idiot, I've liked you for as long as I can remember. I'm not sure why though." Adam teased, smiling widely.

"Well how was I meant to know how you really felt if you weren't pointing?" Michael joked, breaking any tension that was left.

"I can't believe I like someone who quotes Glee casually." Adam sighed.

"Would you like to go on a date with me this Friday?" Michael asked with a soft smile.

"Hmm I'm not sure, I might be busy that day."

"I regret this already, I'm leaving you and our child." Michael rolled his eyes.

"Yes of course I'll go on a date with you Michael, it took you long enough to ask." Adam smiled and kissed Michael's cheek, making him blush.

"Now shut up and watch Shark Tale with me." Adam said.

"You are very demanding aren't you?" Michael said, kicking his shoes off and wrapping his arms around Adam.

"Clearly being subtle doesn't work with you." Adam rolled his eyes and settled into Michael's arms.
