   Summary

   Gods had wings.

   The sun rose and fell, the wind blew, and gods had wings.

   Mortals didn't.

   This was a fact of the universe. No one questioned it. Why should they? Why should the gods not be able to take to the skies with a simple wingbeat? After all, They were gods. They did as They pleased, and mortal notions such as “gravity” and “the fundamental laws of physics and biology” did not apply to Them.

   But humans are greedy creatures, always seeking knowledge, always trying to "improve" the human race through their various means.

   And so when a god Fell, becoming mortal yet still possessing the wings that marked his Divinity....
