Ruby

Summary:

"Challenging a Maia to a 'songs of power' duel is a foolery of the highest order. Furthermore, have you considered that this Sauron, as he is known, may have been peacefully coexisting with his wolves until rudely accosted by a band of elves and a man who barged into his newfound home...?"

Chapter Text

Celebrimbor's gaze lingered upon Annatar's nude form as he gracefully moved about the sumptuous chambers, holding a wineglass in each hand.

The flickering candlelight's flames danced in response to his movements as if his presence bewitched them.

His skin, as pale as his long hair, merged with the silver moonlight. He bore a characteristic stern countenance, yet rather than detracting, it endowed him with an air of refined sophistication. Despite his slender frame, his tall stature commanded respect akin to that of an imposing tower.

His ruby eyes, fascinating, yet terrifying, ignited when stirred by passion. However, in moments of calm, they veiled themselves in darkness.

Nestled in his luxurious bed, Celebrimbor watched him.

"Wisdom and justice," Annatar intoned solemnly, "Which do you deem more essential?"

"Both," Celebrimbor replied, drawing Annatar beneath the weighty fur blanket. "I don't cling to such rigid distinctions as you do, Annatar."

The Maia emitted a small laugh, a subtle indication of his amusement, yet remaining silent.

"I presumed such a response would not satisfy you," Celebrimbor remarked.

Annatar drew him closer, their lips meeting amidst sips of wine or "liquid ruby" as he called it.

With each action, Celebrimbor infused a touch of competition. He found pleasure in enticing Annatar by evading his eager advances for further kisses, leaving his beloved craving for more.

Finally, capturing Celebrimbor's lips with his own, Annatar prompted, "Elaborate on your response; I prefer my pupils to be articulate."

Celebrimbor chuckled softly. "One more kiss, and I shall divulge all, master."

"You are quite the negotiator," Annatar murmured between passionate kisses, their breath intertwining. "The deal is now sealed, and you cannot hide."

Celebrimbor nestled his head against Annatar's chest and elaborated on his stance. "Wisdom. Sometimes, it is wise to navigate paths that may seem unjust to ensure the attainment of the greater good."

"Define this 'greater good.'"

"The preservation and prosperity of my people," promptly replied Celebrimbor.

"To what lengths would you go to ensure this greater good?" Annatar pressed further.

"I would spare no effort," declared the Elf resolutely.

"We share myriad similarities, Celebrimbor..." Annatar's eyes gleamed in the shadows, revealing their vibrant crimson hue. "This is the response I expected from you. It is precisely why you are more fitting to don the crown than Gil-galad."

Celebrimbor was astounded at the audacity.

"Your tempting lips utter such dangerous words so casually..." His touch was hesitant yet craving against Annatar's lips. "You should not speak of my cousin in such a manner..."

"I am neither Noldo nor Elf," Annatar's tone carried a hint of amusement. "And I may speak as I please, precious. People conspire daily; it is hardly unlawful."

"It is treasonous nonetheless." Celebrimbor remarked, striving to maintain a stern countenance. "You are impossible today!"

Annatar raised his shoulders and leisurely sipped his wine, setting a tone of nonchalance amidst Celebrimbor's musings.
