TRANSCRIPTION
[Vertical video of a random New York City street, posted on Instagram by @meetcutesnyc. A young man, around 27, walks into frame with a gray Chanel beanie, and dressed in a hot pink graphic hoodie, blue track pants, and white and black Jordans. He’s walking with another man who’s trailing behind slightly, around 26, with black hair that’s almost a mullet, and dressed in a black graphic tee, jeans with patches, and chunky silver shoes. He also has on a pair of black rimmed glasses. They’re both holding scoops of ice cream, the beanie guy with a fruit sherbet of some sort and the other guy with a light brown scoop, probably coffee flavor.]
INTERVIEWER: [Off-camera] Excuse me, sorry, are you two a couple?
[The pair are startled, with the one in the beanie even jumping a bit, having to use his other hand to stabilize his ice cream. They look at each other, and then back to the camera with hesitation.]
BEANIE GUY: Uh, yeah?
INTERVIEWER: Would you mind telling me the story of how you first met?
[The couple relax, smile, and nod. A username and name pops up on the beanie guy’s body, edited in, @sound_of_coups, Seungcheol. On the other, @nonugames, Wonwoo]
WONWOO: [Eyes wide with sudden recognition] Oh my god, I know you guys! @meetcutesnyc on Instagram, right? [To Seungcheol] We were gonna do a reveal in a month anyways, right?
SEUNGCHEOL: [Nodding, and then to the interviewer] When will this be posted?
INTERVIEWER: In two weeks most likely, unless you guys want me to delay it.
[They seem to pause and consider it, before shrugging]
WONWOO: [To Seungcheol] This is cuter than our original idea anyways.
SEUNGCHEOL: We met through gaming and streaming. I’m S.COUPS, he’s NONU.
INTERVIEWER: [Shocked] Holy shit, I love you guys. I watch your streams all the time. [Pause, in realization] So this is a face reveal, huh?
[The pair nod, smiling softly.]
INTERVIEWER: I’ve been following you guys since you each only had like 100k subscribers combined. You’ve got like, what, over 15 million each now? [They nod, though they’re modest, and the interviewer lets out a starstruck sigh] That’s crazy. [Pause] You’re dating?!
SEUNGCHEOL: [Laughing and nodding] Yup.
INTERVIEWER: How did that happen?
WONWOO: We were just friends at first, playing together on call. He taught me how to play Smash, actually.
SEUNGCHEOL: [Pouting] He’s better than me now.
WONWOO: We met up after like a year of talking online only, and it just sorta…happened.
SEUNGCHEOL: I had a huge crush on him after we met.
WONWOO: [To Seungcheol] I liked you since before we even met in person!
SEUNGCHEOL: [Smirking] Just from my voice, huh?
WONWOO: [Rolling his eyes and blushing, hard] Shut up.
INTERVIEWER: What were your first impressions of each other?
SEUNGCHEOL: Online, cool league player. Offline, really hot.
WONWOO: [Eyes wide] When we met for the first time in real life I was jet lagged, in a ratty t-shirt from high school and with the greasiest hair of my life. What was hot about that?
SEUNGCHEOL: Babe, I can’t lie I didn’t even notice all that. All I could think about was how nice your face was. Like sculpted by the ancient greeks or something.
WONWOO: [Swatting at Seungcheol’s cheek] You sap. [To camera, deadpan] My first impression of him online was that I was better than him in League.
SEUNGCHEOL: Psh. Back then? No shot.
WONWOO: Who ranked 3rd in the US overall this year?
SEUNGCHEOL: [Whining] I literally ranked 2nd last year!
WONWOO: Last year is last year, this year is the only thing that matters!
INTERVIEWER: What about you Nonu—wait is it alright I call you that?
WONWOO: Please, call me Wonwoo. [Jerking his chin towards Seungcheol] My first impression of this sore loser in real life was that I wish we had met earlier. Cause I knew that I was already halfway in love with him.
[Seungcheol reaches around to hug Wonwoo with one arm and Wonwoo presses into his touch.]
INTERVIEWER: What did you guys do on your first date?
SEUNGCHEOL: [Tilting his head] We never really had a first date, actually. We had already been seeing each other as just friends for so long and once we confessed to each other we just kept hanging out, except we also made out.
WONWOO: Please don’t call us spending time together “hanging out”.
SEUNGCHEOL: Why not? Isn’t that what it is?
WONWOO: You’re such a dude bro.
INTERVIEWER: So how long have you been together for?
SEUNGCHEOL: 3 years.
WONWOO: But we’ve known each other for 6.
INTERVIEWER: 6 years in, what’s your favorite thing about each other?
SEUNGCHEOL: [Eyes completely trained on Wonwoo] How much he cares. He’s the most caring and empathetic person I know. He’s also the most genuine person I know, and he’s such a calming presence. I feel like everything’s going to be alright when I’m with him.
WONWOO: [Shyly, blush now reaching his ears] You’re too kind.
SEUNGCHEOL: [Fondly] I’m just being honest.
INTERVIEWER: What about you, Wonwoo?
WONWOO: [To Seungcheol, blush still covering his skin] Seungcheol is my person. He brings out the best in me and makes me feel alive. He’s also incredibly supportive, and offers the best advice. I know he’s always in my corner, my biggest supporter.
SEUNGCHEOL: [Reaching over with one hand to squeeze Wonwoo’s ear] You’re blushing so hard.
WONWOO: [Lightly, giggling] Sto-op.
SEUNGCHEOL: It’s cute.
INTERVIEWER: Sorry to cut y’all off…but we gotta wrap up. If you’re okay with it, what are your names?
WONWOO: Wonwoo. Or NONU.
SEUNGCHEOL: I’m Seungcheol. Or S.COUPS.
INTERVIEWER: I’m literally starstruck right now. Damn. Anyways, thanks you guys!
[The pair leave, and Wonwoo leans over as they go to try a bit of Seungcheol’s ice cream. The video ends.]
