Work Text:
Alastor has given up on trying to understand Angel. Sure, they’re friends now. After a particularly harsh argument, Angel had broken down in sobs asking why Alastor hated him. Alastor, who had thought until this moment that this is what friends do, had been thoroughly confused.
Until they took Charlie’s advice and talked it out, Alastor found out that Angel thought he had some vendetta against him this entire time and Angel found out that Alastor thought they were friends this entire time.
Despite their new-ish friendship, Alastor doesn’t find the spider demon any easier to understand than before. Of course, he can usually look past the facade he uses as a defense mechanism but he’s still an enigma.
Alastor has also been told not to call people enigmas.
So here he is, sitting on the couch in the lobby, analyzing Angel. He had come back from yet another late night at work and Alastor had offered to stay up and wait for him. He was expecting what he sees every other time, Angel limping in looking far worse for wear (and giving Alastor yet another reason to pin that moth against a comically large bulletin board like a science experiment.)
But this time, he was singing. And it was a song Alastor recognized from the two-hour “hangout session” that Angel insisted upon, practically begging him to listen to more modern music. He hadn’t liked most of it but this one had a nice beat to it.
Angel dancing and singing wasn’t unusual, even coming back from work, it was something he was doing while singing. He would sing most of the chorus and then pause and turn to Alastor, shoving his fist in front of his face as if he were holding a microphone. It took two more repetitions of this before it finally clicked in Alastor’s head what he was supposed to do.
So when Angel came over again, he was ready.
“I’m too hot….” Angel yet again shoved the ‘microphone’ in front of Alastor.
“Hot damn.” Alastor finished, laughing at the surprised smile on Angel’s face.
Despite his shock, Angel continued on. “Call the police and the fireman, I’m too hot.”
“Hot damn.”
Alastor has given up on trying to understand Angel, but he doesn’t mind too much.
