Chapter 1: Endings give new beginnings

Chapter Text

Sunday fell into his demise.

As he fell down the theater, simply looking far to the distance as he contemplated his ideals. He asks himself, what went wrong?

How did he go so far from his ambition? Why did he succumb to the darkness and let himself fall to order? Perhaps thinking about it no longer matters. He already failed and... now, people know what he did. Robin knows what he did.

To give false hope, a sense of serenity in guise of subduing them. Why must people think liberty isn't order? Why do they keep looping in this depressive cycle of torture without knowing order and freedom are interconnected and should co-exist?

Seeing as Robin reached out for him, she embraced her brother and cried.

When Sunday woke up, he was expecting to see the familiar blue liquid engulfing him into the sea of dreams, but surprisingly, he woke up in a room entirely different from any Penaconian room. It reminded him of Taikiyan's home structures or even Izumo's. He stood up from the flat bed and saw a blade lying against the floor. Sunday grabbed the blade.

His body jolted as he heard the door slide open "Brother!" He slowly turned his head and saw a light haired woman with interesting ornaments, seeing as she gazed at Sunday with familiarity.

Sunday opened his mouth "You seem confused" Hearing his own voice, it changed. A bit lighter than usual, Sunday unconsciously held his throat.

"Confused? About what, Brother?" She calls him brother... Sunday glanced at his side, seeing a reflection of a stranger looking straight at him, Sunday tried his best to remain calm.

"Nothing, I apologize, I had a wild dream"

.

Kamisato Ayato.

That's what people call him.

Adjusting as Kamisato Ayato isn't hard. Sunday does the same tasks, except now he uses the training he went through when he was younger. He was mostly tasked to strategize and kill. It isn't a new concept.

Sunday did what he had to do, continuously and effortlessly. Paperworks are also part of his job, he could never escape them as it seems.

It feels surreal to be living as someone else. He didn't come terms with it perse, but rather.. what else can he do? Search his way back to Penacony?

It's something far from his fingertips.

It's been a week since he was transported into this body. Sunday saw some similarities and differences in their physique and appearance. Light blue hair, same color of the clothing, and a strikingly similiar styling of hair. However, despite that, this man has a mole under his lips, he doesn't have any wings nor a halo. Just an ordinary mortal with a special ability to wield...a vision.

He came to learn about how a vision works, how are the rules in this place called 'Teyvat' function. A vision is bestowed to those who are worthy of an Archon's gaze. It is an intriguing concept that parallels the Aeons and the paths but is less complex and simpler.

Ayato has a hydro vision.

Something that wouldn't exist in the cosmos. Ice and water are one of the same, water can't be wielded outside of a planet due to the lack of density and gravity. Nevertheless, Sunday finds the element quite useful.

Kamisato Ayaka.

Ayato's sister.

It is surprising for Sunday to acknowledge the similarities between them. It's very intriguing and fascinating.

Ayato and him have the same innocent younger sister who needed to be protected and nourished. Ayaka was kind and bright, just like Robin.

But one thing stuck out of this predicament.

A guy named Thoma exists in this world. Sunday is unsure how to act around them. Thoma is namely the right hand man of Ayato, yet.. Thoma claims to be Ayato's lover.

In which made Sunday spiral in confusion. He knew there would be differences, but to think a person whom Sunday never knows exists out of nowhere to ground him? He wonders, where was he in his world? It's extremely odd.

His theories and possible reasons about this situation, turned upside down.

Sunday found out the damming information when Thoma suddenly kissed his cheek to ease the 'tension' as he called it one afternoon. It was a good thing Thoma left afterwards, Sunday didn't know how to react.

So, to further confirm his assumption. Sunday took his inquiry to Ayaka, of course, he was subtle about it.

"How long has it been since Thoma and I became together?" Sunday tried to act clueless.

Ayaka just hummed and chuckled a response "Shouldn't you know that, brother?" There wasn't a hint of shock in her tone, normal as it seems. Sunday concluded Thoma is indeed Ayato's lover.

.

Sunday doesn't know anything outside of Ayato's tasks and relationships with his family. All he knows is, Kamisato Ayato is the head of the Yashiro Commission and Kamisato clan. He is somewhat close to a politician.

So for Thoma to say "The traveler who saved Inazuma will visit and come by the estate tomorrow!" Sunday has no clue who this traverler person is.

"Prepare a feast then, we shall welcome the traveler with outmost hospitality" Sunday knew a thing or two to prepare for a banquet. It is a normal occurrence in Penacony. This is a walk in a park for him. But to know the information about the traveler who had saved Inazuma, from what?

This place seems to be mundane and calm. Catastrophic events are something Sunday wouldn't have guessed upon landing in this place. Perhaps the traveler helped those in need? A cyclone or heavy rain, sheltering people under their roof when the citizens didn't have one? Too much of a stretch, maybe the traveler saved Inazuma by doing other means. Ayato seems to handle internal affairs and more. Ayato basically runs Inazuma behind the scenes. He doesn't seem to need any help doing it.

So, who is this traveler?

"The tales of the traveler, I can't help but look up at their accomplishments. Would you mind telling me how it went again, Thoma?" Sunday decided to break through it.

Thoma happily told him the story.

The fact that the traveler has an overwhelming power than could battle the Archons. It surely made Sunday intrigued. The more he learned, the more he wonders.

A lost sister... A lost memory.

Then, finally, Sunday met the traveler.

"Something is weird, Paimon"

Sunday understood him. He was speaking a language that existed somewhere in the cosmos. It's the usual language the IPC integrated as a norm.

"Hehe, sorry, The traveler is just worried.. Has something happened to you, Ayato?" Sunday couldn't take his eyes off the traveler.

Thoma had a curious gaze as well.

This is rather becoming troublesome.

"No, nothing important. I just wish to speak with the traveler for a moment" When Sunday woke up as Kamisato Ayato, this language he's speaking came naturally in his tongue. It was odd since he never knew what language he spoke, yet he spits words as if it is his own. But still, his mind remembers his true language, the knowledge 'Sunday' had is still etched in his brain.

Which makes him wonder, how is this possible?

"Oh? Why not now.. Besides, I gotta translate everything to him.." Paimon also speaks it? Sunday brushed it off and gave Paimon a reassuring smile.

"Worry not, I just have a few questions for the traveler. I hope you don't mind"

.

Closing the door behind, Sunday felt the damming feats of his situation. He wants to know if the traveler is in the same state as him. It would be good if there's progress or information about this situation. Living as a different person is a bit jarring, even for Sunday.

"You may speak as you will, I can understand it" The traveler was on a fighting stance after the revelation.

"How?"

"You are not from this planet, are you?" The traveler seemed to be contemplating. He lowered his guard and kept the glare to Sunday.

"Yes, but you.. You are from Inazuma, born and raised. Ayaka told me stories about you" Sunday sighed heavily and sat on the available chair.

"I am not Kamisato Ayato"

"Then who are you?"

..

Ayato has always been guarded his whole life. Embracing his role in shadows to keep Inazuma safe, going through any means to cut his enemies while keeping his calm demeanor outside. A facade built in order to protect, a will that was formed to withstand the harshness of the storm.

He's not the nicest person out there, perse. But, he still tries to indulge in the mundane life Ayaka seems to want. He finds solitude in Ayaka's care as she is someone Ayato will never be.

"Sunday" A name they call him.

Ayato was extremely confused. Why would they think his name.. is Sunday?

Now inside of a prison, his sight was limited, he stares at his reflection through the metal, only to see a stranger looking back at him.

Yellow dimmed eyes, messy hair locks paired with wings, a halo decorating his back.

This is not him.

Ayato can't make this situation sensical. It almost feels like a dream. The bizarreness of this situation is something he can't understand.

He was fed almost everyday. He never really do much except to eat, sleep and think. He was kept in this prison like.. a prisoner, in which he guesses is his current position.

Then his boring soulless days were over.

The cold and heavy chains that were shackled in his wrist, a painfully weird grey haired man stood outside his cell, staring at him. The stranger heaved a sigh and scratched his nape.

"Man.. why did you have to do those?" Do what? Ayato was confused, he wanted to speak, but his throat was rough and dry. Words can't escape his lips, it was a torture.

Ayato can't help but wonder, did he die in his sleep?

Is this perhaps hell, and they are punishing Ayato for the deaths he caused?

"Your sister can't visit you yet... and uhh, Aventurine is pretty much laughing at your ass. I mean you kinda deserve it dude, no offense" The casualness of his tone, Ayato can't decipher his words.

"Resurrecting an Aeon, really? You should have stayed good and be one of my husbandos!" He cried "Now you're here! I can't do anything, you literally... just.." The stranger groans and ruffles his own hair, Ayato saw his shoulder slumped and finally continued speaking once again "It's a good thing you're alive.. utilizing a stellaron in a dream didn't took a toll in your real body.. Robin was relieved you're alive"

"I should leave.. Bye for now, Sunday"

Ayato still doesn't understand anything.

He picked up the crumbs of information he had gotten from the officers, that grey haired guy, and the other people from the cells but.. still he denies the impossible.

He switched bodies with a stranger.

It's been a week since he met the eccentric grey haired man.

Ayato regained his(?) voice, but it's not like he needed to use it. All he needs to do is know more about his situation and how.

He needs to go back to Inazuma.

If this persists, Ayato doesn't know what would happen. Sunday seems to be the type who will commit atrocious acts, which Ayato can not allow.

"Food" Another trey landed in his cell, this time the voice was new unlike the robotic response he would usually hear. Sultry and condescending, a teasing tone from someone he barely knew.

Looking up, Ayato met purple blue eyes gazing upon him in entertainment. He kept his neutral face on and ate the food.

"That's no fun~ I thought you'ld be more delighted I visited, Mr. Sunday" Ah, Sunday knows this person.

"I apologize for not recognizing you, but it seems like I've hit my head. Would you be kind enough to introduce yourself?" A sufficient phrasing, Ayato doesn't know whether this guy is an ally or foe. By the looks of it, it's impossible for him to be an ally. A taunting statement that would still answer Ayato's query seems to be the right route.

"Forgotten me already? Hah..." Laugher escaped his lips, one that sounded annoyed and amused "How could you forget the face of those you doomed?" He paused "And for what?? That ambitious idea?" He mocked Sunday. Ayato is slowly building the pieces together, but still, it was vague and incomprehensible.

"A bargain is a bargain, I didn't intend to cause pain" Generalization seems to be the only way to win. Ayato has to be careful of the words he will say.

"You.. didn't intend to cause pain?" The man sniffles his laugh, he gave a one last unamused chuckle and brought his hat downwards, revealing his blonde hair "You make me laugh, Sunday. Perhaps you should be a fool instead of being a follower of the order, you fit their standards. I assure you, you'll make Aha think their ways of Elation are outdated" He says with pure contempt and mockery behind his tone.

"Aventurine!" A loud call came from the exit, seeing as the stranger responded from the name. Ayato figures out the identity of this man.

The one that laughed at Sunday's ass when he was thrown in a jail cell, Aventurine.

"Oh well, duty calls. Seeing as you look lost and dead, I'm satisfied" Putting his hat back, Aventurine gave him one last glance "Enjoy your stay in the prison, Sunday"
