Smited

Summary:

When Last Life ended, and Scott was crowned the winner, Grian strikes him with lightning, as a bit of revenge for Scott having been the one to kill him.

Notes:

It's Chatfic AU time!

You all remember the section of the chatfic where Scott was talking about how Grian smited him at the end of Last Life? Well, this is that in fic form (with the section of the chat taken directly from Grian made a chat)

Enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

After the fun Grian had had created and playing 3rd Life, he knew he had to do it again. Sure it had taken him a bit to get everything prepared, especially with the twists that he was adding that time around, not to mention the fact that both Lizzie and Mumbo had accepted his invitation to join in this time around, but the game was finally up and running!

He wasn’t aiming for the win, he had won once already and he had started at a disadvantage with only two lives (even if he managed to get a life from Scar for a bit before he lost it to Bdubs), but he was aiming to get a decent place, and have fun with his friends of course.

***

Grian totally wasn’t pouting. He totally wasn’t sitting in the Void after he was killed by Scott’s hand (his own Mom!) and pouting over his death.

He had placed well, getting seventh place, and he had a blast teaming up with Jimmy, Martyn, Mumbo and Impulse (even if both Jimmy and Martyn had betrayed them, and he had been temporarily kicked from his alliance when he dropped to red due to Joel killing him in the Nether), so he had no reason to be pouting! However, being killed by Scott had stung just a bit, even if that was the entire point of the game.

He only started pouting harder when Scar made his way over, a smirk clear on his face, and sat down next to Grian, wrapping an arm over his shoulder.

“Upset your mom killed you?” Scar asked, his tone as innocent as he could make it.

Grian glared at him for a moment before he did the most mature thing he could do- stuck his tongue out in response.

Scar only laughed at Grian’s response, before he pulled the parrot hybrid closer to his side.

“I’m sure you’ll get your revenge in the next game,” he hummed, and Grian absently nodded, before he looked up when he saw Pearl show up in the Void, meaning there were only three people left in the world.

“Guess we’re finishing this game today,” he called out, knowing that it wouldn’t take too much longer for someone to be crowned the winner.

***

He was right, as not even five minutes later Martyn showed up in the Void, having just been killed by Scott, and shortly after that, Ren showed up, having also just been killed, crowning Scott as the winner of Last Life.

“Well, now we just wait for Scott to die so we can all go home, right?” Ren asked, plopping himself down on the ground so he could take a quick break after all of the running he had just done.

“I think so,” Scar hummed, “but that could take a moment. He doesn't seem to be near a place where he can easily die.”

Grian glanced down at where Scott was, sword still clutched in his hand, before he smirked.

“You know, I think I’m going to get my revenge now rather than wait for the next game,” Grian said, pulling his communicator out of his pocket.

Everyone turned to glance at Grian, confused by his words, and watched as he started tapping on his comm.

Thinking that he was either messaging someone, or going to start kicking people out of the world, most of the attention was turned back to Scott who was currently trying to find a way that he could die so they could all go home, when all of their comms pinged with a message and lightning shot down from the sky and stuck Scott dead-on, killing him instantly, transporting everyone home.

***

Scott opened his eyes back in Jimmy’s empire, having been there before being called for another session of Last Life doing some Lore, very confused as to what had happened, before realisation dawned in his eyes and he pulled his comm out and opened up the group chat he had with Grian, Xisuma, and fWhip, trying to ignore Jimmy’s laughter at his fate.

Fully Fledged Admins- How did that Happen?

Scott: You smited me!

Grian: Don’t know what you’re talking about.

Scott: You SMITED me!

Grian: Nope.

Xisuma: What happened?

Scott: I won, and when I didn’t die fast enough to end the game, because everyone needs to be dead for the game to truly end.

Scott: And Grian used the fricken /kill command on me!

Grian: Shouldn’t have killed me then, Mom.

Scott: THAT’S THE WHOLE POINT OF THE GAME!!

Grian: Yeah, and I needed to end the game.

Xisuma: Scott, I don’t know what you were expecting.

Xisuma: That’s such a Grian thing to do.

Scott: But still!

fWhip: Scott, don’t you have Lore to be doing?

Scott: It’s with Jimmy.

Scott: He’s too busy laughing that I was smited.

Grian: Just remind him he was first out again.

Scott: …just because this is going to be funny, doesn’t mean you’re forgiven.

Grian: Love you too, Mom.

Scott huffed and put his comm away, before he turned to look at Jimmy, who was doubled over in his laughter.

“You know,” Scott hummed, causing Jimmy to try and calm his laughter down so he could focus on what his friend was saying, “for someone who finds it so funny that Grian smited me to end the game, you died first again. Any reason for that?” Scott asked, a smirk forming on his face as Jimmy immediately sobered up.

“I mean, you came to watch the ending, despite not needing to- you were already dead- but you did. Did you just not feel like sticking around to keep playing? Do you have commitment issues to these games?”

Jimmy just glared at him for a moment, face a bright red, before he huffed, and said, “I want a divorce.”

Scott just doubled over in laughter, and Jimmy joined in a moment later; sure Jimmy had died first again (something that he was definitely going to be teased relentlessly for, especially by Grian) and Scott was smited by Grian (something that he was never going to let go) but it was something that everyone was going to be able to laugh about for a long time, even if Scott would be getting his revenge on Grian one day soon.
