Wukong woke up with a gasp and was drenched in a cold sweat. He was on the floor with a blanket and pillow.
What happened?
Wukong questioned what happened before his slumber until he touched the top of his head. A crown framed around his skull and was very reminiscent of the last crown he wore.
He wore a unsure smirk on his face, oh yeah, it's all coming back to him now. The crown was activated and he passed out in front of everyone.
Great.
Before he got up to check on the rest he noticed a figure in the corner.
A figure crossing his arms and sharply looking at Wukong.
Macaque.
Wukong expression sunk, really not in the mood to see his rival, but he still smirked.
“Liking what you see? Why don't you take a picture and it'll last longer.” Wukong quipper, Macaque rolling his eyes.
“Easy the tone, sage. You're not really in the position to be all-mighty.” Macaque remarked back, smiling, which made Wukong angry.
“Oh what? Is this taking you down memory lane?” Wukong says standing up, his legs slightly trembled.
Although Macaque didn't answer, Wukong kept going.
“I bet you just loooooove seeing me have migrains” He says, advancing closer to Macaque who was looking at him concerningly. “You were probably laughing away while my head was pounding, weren't you? Enjoying my displeasure while everyone was worried?”
Macaque did a forced smirk. “Oh please it was a blast, your majesty” He said with vigor.
“I mean who would pass up an opportunity like this” He puts a finger on Wukongs crown and jabs it on his forehead.
Wukong eyes got sharpier as he laughs off his tears.
Macaque gets freaked out by Wukongs laugh, backing away. “The kid wanted me to check up on you, and it seems to me you're a little off.”
“What me? Don't be absurd, I am fine!!!” He says with sarcasm.
Macaque trys to speak again but Wukong interrupts. “Besides, I've already done this once, why would it be a problem?”
“Stop making jokes like that, they are not funny unless I say them.” Macaque says, that vigor gone.
Wukong laughs rubbing his eyes. “Oh yes because everything has to be about you doesn't it? I'm wearing the crown and you are the one complaining?” He spews, Macaque noticing how tired he looks.
Macaque looks at him with surprised eyes. “Whatever, I'm done here” He turns around to go into the shadow until he hears wukong.
“Fine, leave, it's the only thing you're good at.”
Macaque turns back around. “What is your deal?! I know that crown is giving you some migraine but come on!”
Wukong realizes all the stuff he said in the last five minutes but he ignores it. “My deal? You're the one making fun of me!”
Macaque also realizes his behavior. “Well I mean who wouldn-” He pauses as Wukong began to zone out as his migraine got worse.
Macaque noticed seeing his eyebrow twitch, “Wukong, you doing okay?” He asks
Wukong comes back to reality as the migraine softens up a bit. “Yeah I'm doing great.” He says. He looks at Macaque for a moment and softens his eyes.
“You know I didn't mean any of that right?”
Macaques gaze softens, “yeah I know. I would rather you take your anger out on me than anyone else.”
Wukong closes the door, staying in the room. “Its still wrong. And we're still working on things.”
“Yeah, maybe work on not putting on crowns that squeeze your skull.” Macaque says. Wukong looks at him with his head tilted.
“Sorry sorry, last joke, I swear” Macaque says.
“Hows the kid?” Wukong asks, trying not to show any more vulnerability.
“He's more emotionally stable than he was the last four times he found out something has happened to you.” Macaque tells looking Wukong up and down.
“I'm surprised he hasn't came in here and yelled at you yet.” Macaque grins but stops as he sees Wukong's expression.
“I keep telling him I wouldn't lie to him anymore, and now I'll need to tell him about well this.” Wukong pointed to his crown, Macaque frowns a little.
“Hey don't beat up yourself about it, that's my job” He tries to cheer up his other half but wukong doesn't falter.
Macaque sighs, “Listen, the kid can't expect you to tell him everything you've went through. And you can't expect him to not be worried about you especially after .. that.”
“Wow and I thought I was the only mentor around here?” Wukong teases, flicking his tail against Macaque's own. “Well I usually don't give out my advice for free.” Macaque quips back, he curls around Wukongs tail.
“What makes it different this time?” Wukong eyes scan over Macaque.
You
Macaque knew that was the answer but decided against it. “I guess I just feel generous.” Macaque slyly remarks as Wukong looks at him with a daze.
“Right, when are you not generous?”
“I knew you'd agree with me” Macaque flaunts.
Wukong doesn't respond looking at him with hazy eyes which Macaque notices.
“Okay, you're being weird, stop.” Macaque says walking his tail near the others face.
“What am I doing?” Wukong slurs as his tail intertwines with Macaque's again.
“I think you know.” He says as wukong tilts his head and smirks more. “And this is exactly the reason I'm never nice to you.” Macaque says acting annoyed.
“Really? This is you being nice?” Wukong questions as he thinks that Macaque is perhaps being more.
“Yep. This is the most you'll ever get from me Great Sage.” Macaque claims, grabbing the door handle.
“Aw, leaving so soon?” Wukong said, not letting the desperation seep through.
“I can't let you have too much of me, wouldn't be fair.” Macaque joked as he squeezed Wukongs tail and unhooked it from the other.
Macaque closes the door, leaving wukong alone.
Wukongs heart was beating fast and he was blushing, why was he blushing?
He started questioning things but he decided it was for another time.
And suddenly
His head didn't seem to hurt anymore.
