Chapter Text
Johnny Lawrence kicks his motorcycle into gear, shaking his head and swearing at what the old man has just told him.
Daniel LaRusso still has the power to seriously tick him off, and the way Miyagi only lowered his head and said "Daniel-san is not here. He's looking for own way," so softly without the obvious judgement Johnny knows he himself would - and that he does - feel as he'd gone over there, well. It makes Johnny's heart pound, his blood boil.
He went over after hearing about this year's tournament and the newest batch of rules, where the previous year's champion didn't have to fight through the whole thing, just go against the final contestant.
Which is such bullshit.
"Where is he?" Johnny demands, adding a "sir" because he realizes he probably won't get anywhere by being rude to Mr. Miyagi, and he doesn't want to, anyway - the guy had saved his life after all - only to go cold as he hears
"With your old dojo. New teacher there says he is friend who fought in war with yours" which Johnny didn't parse out at that exact second, because what the fuck, but once he'd jumped back on his bike, as he's tearing down the road, he registers they must've met in Vietnam. This new... teacher guy and Kreese - he can't call either one a sensei. They're a couple'a snakes in the jungle, Johnny thinks in fury. And LaRusso, he's a rabbit or a crane - big ol' juicy bird that's gonna be damn good eating if he doesn't get his ass up and fly away in time.
Well. Johnny leans into the handlebars of his cycle as he's passing the dojo - it's got that dummy set up, and the sight of dark spots and drips on that peach-tan surface have him slowing to a stop. He looks in and focuses enough, with hands sweating and face cold, to see the dried crusty brown as well as recent glistening red of blood. His jaw jumps and stomach turns as he breathes, whips around and throws his leg back over his bike saddle and kicks into gear.
Damnit, LaRusso had gotten himself thrown into the most fucked-up part of Cobra Kai and probably didn't even know it, little twerp, Johnny growls.
Or by the time he realized, it feels too late to get back out.
Screw that. Johnny thinks. He and the guys had gotten out, so he can get LaRusso out too. Doesn't owe him anything, this isn't that - he just knows he can do it, because he's been through the shit too.
