Work Text:

“What is that!?” Sebastian nearly shrieked, taking a step forward to stop the almost-human boy from approaching.

With a sharp turn, the jester whipped around to see his master, Randal Ivory. An older (though, seemingly immortal) man, who acted as both Luther’s elder brother and the house maniac. When meeting the eyes of his beloved jester, Randal simply adjusted his glasses. Though, he exposed his sharp teeth in a cunning smile, like a fox eyeing a hen house.

Sebastian gestured vaguely at the creature in front of them, which seemed to be a boy about Luther’s age, maybe a few years younger. The jester’s face had gone askew with confusion.

The boy sitting in front of the three stared up at them, his eyes glistening with youth and simpleness. He didn’t have an ounce of fear, even when face to face with Luther, who’s four eyes opened widely upon viewing him and had no plan on closing. The seemingly human boy was dressed sweetly, with a clean pale yellow sweater and socks. Both appeared new, or at least very pristine.

Overruling Sebastian’s hand on Luther, Randal simply nodded down towards his little brother. The brunette ran excitedly forward, shoes clicking against the waxed floors. He immediately inspected the younger boy, a soft hand coming to feel his hair. It was a beautifully eye-catching blue, of which verged on being gray.

Sebastian, being in a not-quite-as-excited state, marched over towards Randal. His arms crossed irritatedly, ready to scold him like a nagging housewife. His master feigned ignorance already, looking at him with a simple smile.

“I told you to get him a cat! Not– not whatever this is!” Sebastian chided, a hand meeting with the back of Randal’s head and giving him a swift smack.

Randal tsked, laughing deviously as one hand met with his beloved jester’s hip. He seemed to think that a pampering gesture would calm him, though Sebastian only scoffed in reaction to the intimate hold. The entity’s sharp nails happily scratched against his pet’s pierrot costume, producing a slightly annoying paper-y sound.

“My dearest, that IS a cat! Can’t you see his ears?” Randal responded, pointing towards the boy. He had a black headband, which seemed to be made to resemble downturned cat ears. The sight made Sebastian scoff once more.

“No, he can’t keep a little boy! It’ll die!” The curly-haired jester asserted, shaking his head.

However, the sight that sadly caught him off guard stood in front of him. Luther, eyes bright despite holding a blank face, with the boy held tightly in his arms. It was a miracle that Luther could even hold the blue-haired child, seeing as he wasn’t much younger than Luther’s physical form. His thin, pale arms were tightly knit underneath the “cat’s”, who laid calmly and limply in the air as Luther presented him to his parent-like jester.

“I like him very much, Sebastian,” Luther said blankly, which seemed to be an attempt to plead to keep him.

Sebastian stared down at his master’s younger brother, suddenly feeling very conflicted. Perhaps he had truly gone crazy, because the innocent look of Luther simply wrecked him. He looked so hopeful and proud. Lord knows he doesn’t have enough friends, of course… Even when the boy does manage to meet people, he’s off putting and inhuman. He’s just been so lonely recently, and–

“See, dear? Luther likes him very much, keke,” Randal giggled, both hands suddenly on Sebastian’s shoulders, lightly massaging him.

“Oh, why do you always have to make me the bad guy?!” Sebastian huffed, shaking his head. He’d just seem cruel if he made Luther get rid of this little thing.

For a long moment, Sebastian stayed quiet. Perhaps rethinking his life decisions, but more likely contemplating if he’d really allow this form of pseudo-kidnapping. His dark gloved hands rubbed his forehead, trying to expel all the tension just added to his scarred skin. It seemed as if each member of the family was silent, watching him and waiting for his final verdict on this potential new member. Randal suddenly laid his head on his jester’s shoulder, hands around his waist… He was always so touchy, but Sebastian had grown used to it.

Finally, Sebastian sighed loudly. He dropped his hands, looking down at Luther. The ginger had always had trouble saying no to that face… Even if it wasn’t totally human. He just seemed so hopeful in a way that gutted his jester-parent.

He bent down to get closer to Luther’s level, as well as his cat-looking companion.

“If I let you keep him, you–... You gotta take care of him, y’know. He’ll be… Hard to take care of,” Sebastian weakly reasoned, staring into Luther’s two sets of eyes.

Luther nodded proudly in response, not dissuaded in any way, shape, or form. If anything, the warning had only encouraged the cryptid boy more. Sebastian fought the urge to sigh again, feeling as if he had fully lost his mind. He was quite literally reasoning with a cryptid over the semantics of keeping a human like some sort of housecat.

“... What are you gonna name him, LuLu?” Sebastian whispered, looking irritated.

Luther went quiet for a moment, looking down at his new friend. He seemed lost in thought for a bit, running through all the possible options in his head. The boy looked back at him, seeming already silently fond of his new “master”.

“Hmm… Nyon. ♡”
