“Do I look good?” Vox asked for what must have been the hundredth time.
“Yes.” Alastor chuckled as he fixed Vox's glasses. “Stop panicking.”
“I'm meeting your parents! This is important!” Vox scowled. “Don't you dare try to talk me down from this!”
“We've been dating for a few months, Vox. They already know everything they need and want to know about you. You already have their approval.” Alastor tried again. “You're overre- overthinking this.” Alastor gently wrapped his arms around Vox's waist. “Now, do you need me to bring anything in my bag?” He asked as he gently kissed Vox's nose.
“Pads would be nice.” Vox leaned into his boyfriend's touch. “I love not bleeding everywhere.”
“Any painkillers?” Alastor hummed.
“I never say no to drugs.” Vox grinned.
Alastor sighed heavily. “Of course.”

Alastor and Vox were seated right beside one another while Alastor's parents sat across from them. Cecilia and Elijah Were staring down Vox, carefully taking in his attire. Vox has basically moved into Alastor's lap trying to seek comfort from his boyfriend.
“You look beautiful.” Cecilia finally broke the silence. “You're quite a dashing young man.”
“Very shy.” Elijah added. “Considering our bot is an extrovert, I do hope he isn't pressuring you into doing anything social.”
“Dad.” Alastor scowled.
“It's quite alright! Uh, thank you Miss Cecilia. Mister Elijah, Alastor is very nice to me and never pressures me into anything.” Vox squeaked a bit as he spoke and tried to press himself against Alastor even more. This was horrible. Vox never should have suggested this.
“I'm quite happy to see Alastor find someone.” Cecilia giggled and she grasped Elijah's hand. “He's a lot like me when I was younger.”
“Oh she was quite stubborn.” Elijah laughed a bit, clearly fond at the memory. “Alastor said you confessed first?” Elijah turned his attention back to Vox.
“Uh… yes.” Vox nodded meekly. “He… well… I thought… we… I… he helped me at a bad time, and took me in when I had no one. My feelings for him just grew overtime. I was lucky Alastor liked me back.” Vox decided to go with.
“Oh, Sweetie.” Cecilia smiled. “No luck was involved there. I can already tell you are very likable.”
“I think I was lucky you liked me.” Alastor whispered. “So many others were after your attention.”
“I never noticed.” Vox mumbled. “Guess I was too busy thinking about how much I like my roommate.” He added with a laugh.
Alastor's smile softened. Vox slowly moved away from him as he began to grow comfortable in his parents’ presence.
Elijah and Cecilia could see a mile away how much adoration they had for one another. It was clearly going to be a long-term relationship and they were overjoyed at that. Of course, they had to convince Vox that they supported their relationship and that they liked him, but they would build him up to the idea slowly.
Soon their food arrived as they continued to make idle small talk, and they watched in amusement as Vox eyed the food on Alastor's plate. Alastor was lifting a fork to his mouth when he finally spotted Vox staring. He pulled the fork back and stared at Vox for a second before feeding it to him.
Vox moaned a bit as he swallowed the food. “That's so good!” He gasped.
“You're not getting any more.” Alastor poked Vox's nose. “It's spicy, and I know you can't tolerate more than one bite.”
Vox pouted a bit but he returned his attention back to his own food. “You're too thoughtful.” He grumbled.
Elijah and Cecilia both chuckled a bit at their antics. They had similar issues. Elijah had no spice tolerance either. Cecilia had slowly made him grow one, but he was just like Vox. It was like Looking into a mirror and seeing their younger selves. It was touching in a way.
“I think it's sweet.” Cecilia smiled. “He cares for you greatly.”
“Ew. Compassion.” Vox made a face which made Alastor laugh a bit.
“Sweetie, I've always been nicer to you.” Alastor pinched his boyfriend's cheek. “That's not changing.”
“Not in front of your parents.” Vox whined. “We're supposed to make them uncomfortable by just staring at them.”
“You already failed when you decided to sit against me.” Alastor snorted in mild amusement before he wrapped an arm over Vox's shoulders. “I suppose next time we can fake it, Vox.”
“Don't worry. We didn't see a thing.” Elijah looked away as he spoke.
“Who's Vox?” Cecilia asked as she looked up at the ceiling. “Never heard that name in my life.”
Vox smiled softly before he closed his eyes and let himself lean against Alastor. He could live like this. He really could.
