Vincent held out his hand to shake Alastor’s again, and Alastor indulged him only so he could tap on the top of Vincent’s pointer finger without drawing much attention.
Then, as Vincent naturally pulled his hand back to check his finger and notice the blood under his nails, Alastor made a hasty exit.
No, Alastor didn’t kill Vincent Whittman.

Obviously, trying to kill Alastor and take over Heaven was totally justified, but maybe he shouldn't have pushed his associates away and kind of almost tried to kill them, sort of. Whatever. The point is, he made a few missteps, and now he has to fix them. Easy. Just come up with a foolproof PR campaign that will redeem him in the eyes of even the most stubborn demons-

(The Vees steal a child to make everyone forget about that time Vox went insane and tried to nuke Pentagram City because that fucking deer tricked him for the three-hundred-and-fifty-eighth time. Whether or not it works depends on how you look at it.)

Summary
Despite what Alastor just said about wanting to observe, he immediately looks off to the side and keeps his eyes on the floor until Vox pointedly slams the detached piece onto the nearest empty shelf. It rolls a few inches away from him.
“There. It’s off. Happy?”
Alastor refocuses, first on Vox’s glowering face and then lower down. And just for a second, the mask slips. His smile remains in place, but a soft breath escapes. He takes a tentative step closer.
“That,” Alastor says, in a very different tone than before. “Could your surgeons construct something similar to that on a flesh-and-blood body?”
“That being… nothing.”
“Precisely.” For the first time tonight, Vox hears a hungry, covetous edge to his voice. “Nothing at all.”Vox has attained a bodily state Alastor thought unrealizable. The humbling ordeal of asking for and then receiving the same will ultimately sand down both their rough edges—at least in relation to one another. (Post–season 2 fic)

"Crap!" the food truck worker shrieks in alarm. "Don't hurt him, Superman, he's just a kid!"
Clark . . . pauses, then looks up from the kid that he is currently pinning into the street as said kid struggles underneath him.
"'Hurt him'?" he asks in reflexive confusion, and then realizes how batting a teenager around like a person-shaped cat toy and pinning him to the street hard enough to crack it probably actually looks to an outside observer.
. . . um.
Whoops.
"Um," he starts awkwardly, and then the kid slips his pin while he's distracted and throws his arms around his neck with a gleeful laugh and a bright grin.
"Dad!" he crows triumphantly, and hugs Clark harder than literally anyone has ever hugged him before.

Bruce doesn’t know what’s wrong with his child, but he’s pretty sure kids aren’t meant to work like this.
From the day he had looked up into the tops of the circus tent and saw a frightened mirror image of a boy who had just experienced the worst day of his life, Bruce had instantly gone into emergency mode.
The Gotham PD had wanted to pass the boy off into the care of the circus. The circus had mumbled underneath their breaths about superstitions, about not having a boy like that with them, about not being able to handle something like Dick. So GCPD, not knowing what to do, had started talking about one of the handful of overburdened boy homes that handles a majority of Gotham’s unlucky orphans.
All the while, the camera lights flash bright and loud, wanting to know everything.
Bruce couldn’t let that happen.
Not then, not ever again.
