Okay so…This was bad…and if anyone asks Donnie it wasn't his fault! They were on a mission, a simple and quick mission, or at least it was supposed to be. Baxter stackman had finally gotten some of Donnie's DNA after a huge fight that left Donnie injured, which wasn't his fault, it's not like he knew Baxter would collect some of his DNA. So now a few days later they had to get it back so those freaks couldn't do anything with it, or more accurately anything more than they already have. Donnie's job was to delete any data on them while Raph and Leo stood guard. Mikey didn't need to come cause it should've been easy enough(leo only came so she could drive). Donnie had been quickly deleting everything about himself until he found something...weird, because of course nothing could be so easy, it really wasn't fair. It was about an experiment Baxter had been doing, involving injecting mutant DNA (couldn't they have used anyone else's DNA?) into an animal. It seemed kinda cruel, anyway of course Donnie had to find out more! So as Donnie continued to read through the report it turned out Baxter had somehow gotten a 1 month old box turtle and injected Donnie's DNA into the little guy. The box turtle ended up mutating into a humanoid Turtle, though it was a weird mix of box turtle and a Red-Eared Slider turtle(the kind of turtle donnie was). Donnie felt strange as he read this information...did this mean he had a kid? He looked around the lab, and after seeing nothing in the main lab he went to a locked door in the corner of the room. He quickly works on unlocking it before pushing it open(they should probably have better security, not that Donnie was complaining). The room was small like a walk-in closet and very very plain, grey walls and a concrete floor, not a rug or much of anything else in sight. Except for in the corner of the room was a small crib, in the crib? A little baby mutant, the little guy was honestly very adorable! Three little fingers and toes on each foot and hand, big, soft reddish-brown eyes(just like donnies), their scales were more dark brown around their eyes and fingers but other than that their scales were the same color as donnies, except for the colorful yellow and orange blotches and streaks all around their eyes and arms and legs. Their shell definitely resembled more of a box turtle with the orange streaks all over the shell but the report didn’t specify what kind of box turtle so Donnie wasn't 100 percent sure if their shell should look like that. Donnie would have to run a few tests to see. As Donnie stares at the little turtle in front of him, he can't resist the urge to hold the baby. He cradled the tiny turtle in his arms, which was about the size of a basketball. The tiny little turtle slowly wakes up, having fallen asleep again while Donnie had been studying them, Donnie coos at the baby while their eyes slowly fluttered open and rocked them back and forth. He grabs the only sad little blanket in the crib and wraps them in it, then he goes back to the main lab, locking the door behind him, still holding the turtle against his chest. He sits at the desk again and sets the little turtle on his lap while he deletes everything about the baby on the computer after he copied everything about him/the little turtle onto his T-Phone. Once he did that Donnie started to freak a little bit, he needed to figure out what the shell to do with the small mutant turtle. He texts Leo and Raph that everything was erased from the computer and they could go back to the (insert car name) Donnie, Raph, and Leo sneak out and then once everyone has settled in the car, they notice the bundle in Donnie's arms
"Dont freak out" donnie blurted out, holding the baby closer to his chest.
"What do you mean don't freak out, you have a whole ass baby in your arms!" Raph yelled, now he did like taking strays and nursing them back to health but this was a baby!
"Language" Leo sighed, "but Raph has a point, why do you have a baby?"
Donnie looked nervous "I'll explain everything at the lair but now lets get out of here" Donnie held the baby a bit closer, rocking it a bit in an attempt to make them fall asleep again.
"No way, you tell us now" Raph was beginning to become impatient, looking about three seconds away from threatening Donnie so he'd share what was going on.
Leo nods as she starts to drive away, “I agree with Raph, we need to know why you have that baby”
Donnie sighs as she gives him a pointed look. "Fine, I'll tell you what happened, but you get to explain it to Mikey, I don't wanna have to say it twice" Donnie rests the little turtle in his lap before he explains everything, how he found the reports, how he found the baby, how he's sure they're his, he also told them his plans to perform some tests on the baby in order to see if the turtle is healthy, to show if the turtle has any allergies, and to see what kind of turtle the little guy was.
LATER AT THE LAIR
Leo, Raph, and Donnie all walk into the lair, Mikey was on the couch reading a comic perks up when he sees them enter and looks confused when he spots the bundle in Donnie's arms. Donnie quickly goes to his lab, not even glancing at Mikey as he shuts the door to his lab. “uh what's that about?” Raph and Leo sigh as they sit next to Mikey to explain what happened with Donnie and why Donnie had a whole baby in his arms. It was a very weird conversation and master splinter walks in mid conversation so they have to explain it to him too and he takes it surprisingly well.
