Summary
Ganji Gupta and William Ellis have known (but rarely talked to) each other since middle school. Starting their lives at Oletus University, they both pursue their beloved sports.
Ganji thinks that love and relationships are a waste of time. He wasn’t that big of a “people person” to begin with— his protective mom restricted him of his ability to properly talk to others, so that no one could ever hurt him.
Cricket is the only thing that matters to him. He loves the thrill, the adrenaline, the satisfaction that follows every swing of his arm, the connection between the ball and bat. Love cannot produce this same feeling.
William visits the cricket player at every practice. He’s just as busy with rugby, but always finds time to stop by and stalk Ganji when he’s on the field. The forward bugs him about going to hang out, until the batter obliges and gives him a chance to talk.
Rugby and cricket can’t both be the best sports. There can only be one.
And god, if William wanted to play with him so badly, Ganji would have to try harder.
