Chapter Text
Dexter has never been a normal person. Ever since their 5th birthday, their life has been more than normal.
The first time shadows curled around their little hand, they had almost trashed the whole house.
Their mother had to calm them down to explain that it would be okey and that they're okey and that nothing is gonna go wrong.
At the age of 6 the hero commitee found out and promised to make them a great hero. A strong, admirable and loved by all hero.
Having said that, Dexter still tried to keep some normality in their life.
Its much harder than they would've liked when they're a hero.
At the age of 16, Dexter finally got their first mission. Their first chance at real hero work. Just why the fuck. would the hero commitee send them after the three top ranking villains on their first mission.
They dodged an attack from Ares as a spike made out of blood wooshed past them, and they sent a wave of shadows to try and pin the villain down, only for an axe to try and slice them in half.
Dexter barely dodged it as they saw Veltra smirking at them in the corner of their eye.
What a bitch.
Dexter immiediately directed their attack at her, shadows dancing between their fingers before shooting to go after the female.
Veltra in return shoot her screens and cut through the shadows before they could even reach her.
Dexter titled their head to the side as an arrow flew by their ear, missing by an inch. They turned their head and glared at the arrow user behind their mask.
Barrier, crouching on a rooftop, only smiled in return, as if he didnt just try to kill them.
They were supposed to take Ares as a hostage so the other two would have to surrender. No one told them that Veltra and Barrier were in the area.
Enough with the dwelling, Dexter has to get out of here alive.
They were pushed to the ground by the hilt of an axe, a foot pressing against their back.
"So. Raven, was it?" Veltra asked as she stared down at them- or so they assumed, they cant really tell when the villain has a blindfold on.
Dexter didnt even get to answer as Veltra continued. "Doesnt matter. In the end you failed." Dexter could hear the cockines in her voice.
They heard Ares walking closer, and when they looked to the side they could see Barrier making his way over- wasnt he just on a rooftop?
They tried to push themself up but Veltra pushed them down again. Dexter breathed in and out, feeling tired from fighting for 30 minutes now.
Great first mission. Dexter felt fan-fucking-tastic.
Dexter panted as they looked up at the axe user holding them down. "This fucking sucks."
"What sucks? Im quite enjoying thi-"
"Suck on deez nuts-" Before the three villains even had the time to respond, Dexter send a wave of shadows at them.
The trio yelped, each of them using their powers to fight back against the shadow surreounding them as Dexter scrambled to get up and ran the fuckity fuck out of there.
Ares yelled at them but Dexter didnt stop running as they made their escape. Well, the hero commite wont like that.
