Work Text:
Nobody thought anything of it when Alastor left school freshmen year.
People suddenly disappearing from school wasn’t new, in fact, it was quite common. It seemed that every week someone stopped showing up to school after they got fucked up bad in a fight or they finally got enough money to enroll in a better school than the shithole they used to come to every weekday.
This school was notorious for its dirt-poor students that casually carried around pocket knives and regularly brought them out to fight or threaten, its chronic smokers that shamelessly took drags from their cigarettes while in the wide open hall, and its distinct social groups, some of them limited and small and focusing on popularity, and some of them infamous for their twisted, disturbing sense of humor and rumored crimes of cannibalism.
During freshman year, Alastor was part of this infamous social group, which was labeled the 'cannibals'. Everyone who found themselves in this group all shared a morbid idea of what was funny. Their sense of humor led to rumors spreading about how they supposedly were actual cannibals.
...None of the 'cannibals' ever confirmed nor denied that accusation.
Now that Alastor had made a sudden return after his forgotten, dismissed absense, he had rejoined his 'cannibalistic' group and now had rumors whispered from ear to ear throughout the school about him.
As common as it was for students to disappear without context, a sudden return had never happened before.
His social group and rivarly with a person part of a group known for their gossip led to even more rumors of what he could have possibly been doing.
Alastor smiled to himself, clearly amused at every whisper, scowl, and look of pure shock aimed toward him. He wasn't at all bothered by the immense amount of rumors. In fact, he was quite entertained by the wild theories some of the students had come up with. He had yet to hear someone utter something even remotely close to the true reason for his absence and return, which only made his grin wider and his steps more confident.
Charlie, a young freshman girl who accompanied him, didn’t seem as pleased hearing the nasty rumors about her friend.
"Al?" she asked, a concerned look on her face. "Are you not... upset about all of this stuff being said about you?"
Alastor glanced down at the shorter girl, his expression softening. "Don't worry, my dear, I find the theories quite amusing." He averted his gaze and continued to look straight ahead of him, a bit endeared by how worried Charlie was about him. "I appreciate your concern, darling, but I can assure that none of them are true."
Charlie seemed to be a bit comforted knowing the rumors of him sopposedly leaving to serve jail time for being a phsycotic killer weren’t true, but she still was worried about the fact that the rumor existed at all.
Despite originally befriending Charlie for her naive tendencies to trust anyone, thus making her an easy target for manipulation, Alastor had grown quite fond of the optimistic girl. He never once agreed with her positive, 'inside every fucked up drug addict student is a rainbow' way of seeing the world, but he did appreciate her company and enjoyed listening to her rant about making the horrible students better people.
Although his enjoyment in her presence wasn't the primary reason Charlie stayed close to his side.
Charlie's overprotective older brother, Lucifer Morningstar, had Alastor keep his sister close by and protect her.
Alastor didn’t know the whole situation, but he did know that the Morningstars had shitty parents, and, like everyone else who attended the school, very little money. Lucifer used to go to a better school, one where the sudents were actually cared for and everyone was a decent person, but a few years ago he found himself and his sister forced to attened their current peice of shit school.
Due to the sibling's lack of money, Lucifer often needed to take days of school to work overtime at his job.
His extreme protectiveness toward his sister led him to worry about Charlie's safety while he wasn't there to protect her, so Lucifer needed to find someone, anyone, that he could trust to watch over her. After all, the school was full of people carrying weapons and drugs along with them wherever they went.
Despite Lucifer's hatred toward the smug man, he was desperate, so he asked Alastor, a trusted friend of Charlie's, to stay close by to her.
Alastor returned feelings of hatred toward Lucifer, but with his growing appreciation of Charlie by his side, he agreed.
Turning the corner, Alastor's bright smile faltered slightly.
As previously stated, he had a rivarly with a huge gossiper, whom he just spotted. Alastor kept his perfect posture and wide smile despite noticing that his rival, Vox, and his close group of friends called the 'Vees' all turned their gaze toward him.
Alastor's plan to simply walk past the three was ruined as Vox sauntered up to him, a smirk on his face and his two friends at his side.
"Alastor! Pleasure seeing you back," Vox said with a hint of sarcasm, standing with his arms crossed.
Sighing internally, Alastor straightened his posture, dreading have to deal with the immature man and his cohorts.
Back in freshman year, Alastor and Vox, Vincent at the time, were best friends. For all their lives, the two were inseparable despite their clear differences. Their friendship remained throughout the first year of high school, where, together, they climbed up the ranks of popularity and became well-known names within their shitty high school, both equally famous and infamous.
After their sudden gain in popularity, Vincent joined a group and made it a trio known as the 'Vees'. The three continued to make their names known using social media, which Alastor frankly wanted nothing to do with.
Vincent, who still thought very highly of his best friend Alastor, asked him to join the Vees and strengthen their power and popularity. Alastor, who had slowly grown tired of Vincent's passion for admiration from the crowd, declined bitterly and completely cut him off from his life after suddenly disappearing from the school.
Pissed and, while he would never admit, a bit heartbroken, Vincent decided he wanted nothing to do with Alastor. He changed his name to Vox, eager to erase any trace of his old self that he associated with Alastor.
And now here they were, almost three years later, once again face-to-face.
Before he could reply, Charlie stepped forward in an attempt to ease the tension with her overwhelming positivity. "Hello, Vox!" Her eyes brightened as she looked back at Alastor. "You two used to be best friends, right? You must be so excited to meet up again!"
Alastor’s eyes narrowed in annoyance, but he kept his smile. "I soppose it is a pleasure to be in your presence, my dear Vinny."
Vox shot an angry glare at his friends, Velvette and Valentino, who smirked smugly and held back laughter at the sound of Vox's old nickname. They clearly found the whole situation quite amusing, but the scowl plastered across Vox's face showed he thought otherwise. "Haha, it's actually Vox now," he clarified with a stern voice and fake laughter, his previous pleased, teasing grin now nowhere in sight.
"You get him, girl," Velvette teased with a smirk, causing Vox to snap his neck toward her, shooting her a dirty look, which she simply snickered at.
Charlie glanced at Alastor with a worried expression, not liking where this was going.
Alastor leaned in toward Vox, amused by his flustered reaction. "Hm? Vox now, is it? What did I miss while I was gone?" He asked sarcastically with a smile.
Vox also took a step closer, leaving his friends behind him to snicker and 'discreetly' film the interaction. "I'll tell you what you missed, you old-timey prick. Say hello to a new status quo because everyone knows there's a brand new dawn. The Vees are in control now, bitch."
Their old friendship wasn’t good for nothing. Now Alastor knew Vox. He knew what flustered him.
And she sure as hell was going to use it against him.
"And how did you earn your status, 'Vox'? Without me, you'd still be desperate little Vincent, begging for recognition. You're only where you are now because I took pity on your pathetic pleading for attention from me." Alastor's smile became even wider as he watched Vox slowly lose his composure, becoming more and more flustered as Alastor publicly pointed out hus insecurities. "Don't forget, Vinny, I made you."
"Oh damn," Valentino purred from behind, taking his cigarette out of his mouth. "This just got interesting."
"You son of a bitch-"
Vox suddenly shoved Alastor against the lockers behind him, catching the attention of the crowd around him.
"Alastor?! Are you okay?!" Charlie shouted, taking a few steps back.
"Oh, trust me dear, I am simply divine," Alastor replied with a smirk, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a pocket knife, a common accessory carried around by the students, and excited gasp arising from the crowd. Vox immediately drew out his own pocket knife at the site of the blade gripped in Alastor's hands. The two made eye contact, knowing damn well it was about to escalate.
The crowd of students roared in cheers as the two lunged at each other, flashes of blood appearing as they merciless slashed at one another.
In only a few seconds, they both were covered in ripped up clothes that were stained with blood gushing out from the cuts underneath them.
Vox managed to get Alastor underneath him breifly, taking the opportunity to slash him across the chest. Alastor let out a hiss of pain as blood started to pour down the front of him, but he never lost his composure as he stabbed Vox in the leg and kicked him in the chest to throw him off of him, causing Vox to stumble backward in pain, nearly collapsing on the ground.
Clutching his chest with one hand, Alastor dazily stood up, taking shallow breaths.
"Goddammit- FUCK that hurt-" Vox muttered to himself through clenched teeth, blood dripping out of his mouth and his hand firmly grasping his leg. He looked up at Alastor with an enraged scowl, about to throw himself back at him and go for another slash, but suddenly, a short girl grabbed his arms firmly, pulling him away.
"What the fuck Vel?!" He shouted, trying to get out of her tight grasp.
"Look, V, I love seeing you get humiliated and beat up and all, but I don't feel like watching you die," Velvette replied irritatedly, her accent showing through strongly as she dragged her friend away from Alastor.
Valentino gently took Vox's hand, a smug grin on his face. "Come on, amorcito, I don't want you to get fucked up before I get the chance to," he teased with a flirty voice.
The crowd collectively let out disappointed sighs.
Charlie immediately ran up to Alastor as the gathering of students started to thin out. "Holy shit, Al, are you alright?!" She asked frantically, hugging him tightly. Alastor winced, the hug sending a surge of pain throughout his scarred body, but he refused to let his pain be noticed.
"I'm- I'm fine, dear..." He said in a strained voice as she let go of him.
He most definitely wasn’t fine.
The cuts littering his arms and the rest of his body hurt like hell. Every time a blood-stained piece of his clothing touched the raw wound, he felt a sharp sting of pain. Not to mention he had a huge fucking slash across his chest that was still actively pouring out blood, which seemed to get on Charlie, but she was blinded by her concern for Alastor and didn’t notice.
Despite the god awful amount of pain he was feeling, he was stubborn and wasn’t going to admit to any if it.
"Are you sure you are okay...? You... you were slashed across the chest..." Charlie said in a more quiet voice, looking down and observing the cut.
Alastor immediately grabbed Charlie's shoulders and slid her across the floor, determined to hide his condition. "Now, now, darling, I'm sure the bell has rung by now, and you need to get to your first period. I know you wouldn't want to miss class, my dear Charlie," he insisted, letting out a sigh of relief as Charlie agreed and ran off to class.
While Charlie cared about her attendance, Alastor couldn't care less.
He was more concerned about the goddamn slash in his chest.
Now that school had started and the halls were empty, Alastor could hopefully head to the bathroom and fix up his wounds without being noticed.
Alastor had done this plenty of times before. He grabbed a roll of bandages, a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, and an extra blazer, essential things he always carried with him due to his reckless habit of constantly finding himself fights and getting badly injured in the past.
He brought everything with him to the bathroom, where he slowly took off his wine red vest and the long-sleeved white shirt underneath. Both of them were stained with dried blood at this point, and wearing them would most definitely give away his wounds. As he reached for the hydrogen peroxide, Alastor glanced down at his skin, sighing at the sight of cuts and slashes littering it. Some had been there for years, some were still in the process of healing, and some were bright red and fresh, still spilling out blood.
Bottle in hand, Alastor held his breath, bracing the pain he knew was about to come when he poured the hydrogen peroxide.
Suddenly, he let out a strained gasp and groan of sheer agony as the chemical poured over his arms and the gaping wound in his chest.
Holy fuck that hurt.
Finally, he unraveled the bandages and started to wrap his arms and chest, wincing every time a raw wound was touched.
The wrapping job was messy, but the number of layers would hopefully conceal any trace of him being injured, which is exactly what he wanted.
Alastor shoved the bloodstained clothes and the bandages into the bag before pulling out the extra blazer he had brought with him. He knew his bandaging job wasn’t foolproof, so hopefully the red blazer would cover up any blood leakage and keep the wounds hidden.
He opened up the stall and walked out, glancing at himself in the mirror and letting out a sigh of relief once he saw that there was no sign of injury. Keeping his gaze fixated on himself, Alastor ran his hands through his hair, fixed the collar on the blazer, and smoothed out his clothes, making himself look dapper, or at least slightely presentable given his tired eyes, trembling hands, and the mess of blood and bandages underneath.
Alastor took in a breath, wincing as the chest movement stung the slash before stepping out of the bathroom, his smile returning.
All he had to do was make it through the day without passing out from blood loss.
The second Alastor stepped foot into his apartment, he nearly collapsed onto the floor.
He gripped the side of a table, one hand placed firmly on his aching chest as he tried to steady his shallow breathing, which caused a surge of pain to go through his body every time he inhaled.
After a few minutes, Alastor managed to drag himself to the couch where he forgot all about his usual proper, pristine posture, and he sprawled out on it, still clutching his giant chest wound as he writhed in pain. Along with the pain, the loss of blood started to make him feel unbearably dizzy and nauseous.
Alastor let out a pained sigh, enternally grateful school was over.
The entire day was spent, besides desperately trying to stay concious despite rapidly losing blood, assuring Charlie that he was okay when, in reality, he was absolutely fucking not, and avoiding his closest friend, Rosie, the unofficial leader of the 'cannibals', because he knew she would see right through his horrible attempt at hiding his pain. She always did.
Now, finally, in the security of his own apartment, there was no one around to hide his pain for.
"ALASTOR, YOU MOTHERFUCKER!"
He perked his head up, quickly regaining his composure as he heard a shout come from behind his door.
Suddenly, his door was swung open and in stormed Lucifer, looking infuriated at Alastor.
Alastor smirked to himself, remembering the various times he had received this look from others.
Stil, it managed to amuse him every time.
Lucifer, despite being enraged, politely shut the door behind him before running up to Alastor, looking more stressed than pissed up close. "You wanna know what Charlie just told me, Alastor?! She said that you got into a goddamn knife fight!"
Alastor stood up, fixing his posture as he looked down at the shorter man.
"Do you know how much shit I have to deal with?! I have to maintain a nine-to-five job, go to this horrible school, and look after Charlie- and now I have to deal with your reckless ass too?! I-I don't know why I asked you to look after her, but I trusted you to protect her, and you decided to stab some guy in the leg with a knife!" He started to pace back and forth, looking euqally concerned and angry as he ranted to Alastor, who was still barely conscious.
"I can't believe you put her in danger, you tacky peice of sh-"
Suddenly, Lucifer quieted down.
He was furious at Alastor learning he had put Charlie in danger, so he pointed an angry finger at the taller man, but then he jabbed his finger at him, into his chest, and Alastor suddenly let out an audible wince that he wasn’t able to suppress.
Alastor put a hand over his mouth, realizing he had let that escape and hoping Lucifer didn't notice.
Lucifer sure as hell noticed.
He lowered his finger, slowly dragging his eyes across Alastor's body to figure out why he might have winced. As he noticed the slight tremble of Alastor's limbs, Lucifer remembered Charlie nervously telling him about Alastor getting slashed across the chest.
The shorter man gently placed his hand on Alastor's chest, seeing right through his futile attempt at hiding a shiver and muffled gasp of pain.
"Alastor... are you- are you okay?" Lucifer asked hesitantly, suddenly forgetting about how he was previously screaming at the man.
Alastor took a step back from Lucifer, uncomfortable with him touching his chest like that, with a gaping wound or not. He also didn’t want anyone, Lucifer of all people, to know that he was injured. Despite Lucifer already having seen him wince and was convinced he was hurt, Alastor let his pride get to him and still was determined to stubbornly brush it off and pretend he was fine.
"Yes- yes, I'm alright," he assured, trying to not writhe in pain every time he took a breath.
Lucifer rolled his eyes and put his hands on his hips, looking unimpressed. "Are you now? Completely fine?"
Alastor crossed his arms, beginning to feel annoyed. "Yes. I don't know why you would ask such bizarre questions," he began, avoiding eye contact with the shorter man. "Clearly, there is nothing wrong with me. I'm simply divine."
Lucifer ignored his comment, still looking completely unconvinced.
"Take off your blazer."
"Pardon? Wh-why would I do that...?"
"Because you're hurt. Let me see it."
Alastor forced a laugh, immediately regretting it as a sting of pain shot through his chest. He stopped his laughing as he noticed Lucifer was completely serious. He really did, for whatever god awful reason, want to see his wound.
If he wasn’t in so much pain, Alastor would've laughed again. Why did Lucifer think Alastor would let him see that?
"I'm not hurt. Like I said, my dear, I am-"
He was suddenly cut off as Lucifer grabbed his shoulders and pushed him against a wall, pinning him to it. Despite being so small, Lucifer was apparently much stronger than he looked, as Alastor couldn't manage to get out of his tight grasp.
Alastor felt his face heat up as he processed what had just happened.
Did Lucifer just... pin him against the wall?
Lucifer, who didn’t seem to notice how suggestive this position appeared, proceeded to unbutton Alastor's blazer. The man froze suddenly, annoyed expression wiped off his face once he saw the mess of blood-stained bandages and other unrelated cuts scattered over Alastor's skin.
The blazer is quickly closed by Alastor as he finally manages to get out of Lucifer's grip. He quickly takes a few steps back, desperately trying to come up with an excuse as to why he was supposedly fine whilst there was a huge wound slashed into his chest. Unable to think of something, Alastor simply starts stuttering out incomprehensible nonsense, a bright red blush visible on his face.
Recovering from the shock, Lucifer's annoyed expression appears on his face once again.
"You call that 'fine'?! Alastor, you have a giant slash across your chest!" He shouts, unsure why he cares. "You are a horrible liar."
Lucifer ran a hand through his hair, letting out a frustrated sigh. "You're also a horrible bandager for how often you get hurt." He crossed his arms, keeping his eyes off Alastor. "Let me stitch it up and rebandage it. Properly this time, so there's not... blood everywhere, and so it doesn't get infected and hurt you worse than you already are."
Alastor mimicked Lucifer's pose, also crossing his arms in an annoyed manner. "And why would I let you do that?"
"Because if you don't, I'm going to tell everyone that you're injured. I know you're too stubborn to let that happen."
Well, fuck.
Alastor sighed frustratedly as he let Lucifer sit him down on the couch while he dug through Alastor's bag, looking for supplies.
"Remind me, my dear, exactly why you are doing this? Last time I checked, you didn't give a shit about me," Alastor asked, running his fingers through his hair as the nausea from the blood loss started to come back to him. Being in such a vulnerable state in front of Lucifer was so utterly pathetic, and he almost regretted agreeing to let the man help him.
"Because..." Lucifer started, keeping his eyes on the bag and away from Alastor. For a second, Lucifer began to question his own motivations.
Why was he suddenly so concerned?
"Because Charlie cares a lot about you. She would be so heartbroken if something happened to you. I care about Charlie, and I want to confidentally tell her you're safe, if that's what keeps her happy," Lucifer answered finally, his voice becoming softer. "You should've heard her tell me about the fight. She was pacing around the room, telling every detail. She was so worried about you."
"...I dont know why she cares, though, because you are a selfish, stubborn prick."
The two fell silent for a second, but then Lucifer suddenly looked up from his rummaging, looking a bit concerned. "Al? Why... Why do you have all this stuff in your bookbag? Like... the bag you carry everywhere?" He asked slowly, holding up the roll of bandages, stiches, hydrogen peroxide, and the pocket knife.
Lucifer hadn’t questioned it at first when Alastor told him the stuff he would need was in his bag, but now that he held it in his hand, it dawned upon him how unusual that was.
Alastor, still on the couch, appeared much less concerned.
"In case I need them," he replied nonchalantly.
"IN WHAT SITUATION WOULD YOU NEED MEDICAL SUPPLIES AND A GODDAMN KNIFE WITH YOU?!"
Alastor stared at Lucifer with an unimpressed gaze, gesturing toward himself and his condition.
The shorter man rolled his eyes, stuffing the knife back in the bag and walking over to Alastor with the bandages and stitches in hand. "Alright, well, most mentally stable people don't regularly get slashed across the chest," he muttered as he started unbuttoning the blazer again to stitch up the wound.
Slipping it off Alastor's shoulders, Lucifer tossed the blazer to the side, completely unaware of how Alastor shivered at his touch.
Grimacing at the sight of the deep slash once again, Lucifer wondered how the hell Alastor managed to suppress the pain from that. As much as he hated that the man was too stubborn to admit any pain he was in, Lucifer did respect him for managing to appear so completely unbothered despite having a huge gaping wound that probably brought constant, unbearble pain.
"If you're going to try and hide an injury, try bandaging it better next time," the shorter man commented as he started to take off the bandages that were previously wrapped around him.
Alastor didn't reply at first.
He was focused on the fact that Lucifer so gently removed the bandages, careful not to hurt him, completely unbothered by the immense amount of blood.
Was he not disgusted?
Why was he so... gentle?
"I wasn't planning on you kicking down my door, pinning me against the wall, and taking off my blazer to come judge the practicality of my bandaging skills," Alastor replied finally, focusing way too hard on avoiding eye contact.
Lucifer rolled his eyes, stitches and needle in hand. "Alright, Al, hold still."
Alastor visibly tensed as he started to stitch up the wound. Lucifer was beginning to wince himself as he watched the needle weave in and out of Alastor's skin. He could only imagine how bad that hurt.
And yet Alastor was still determined to hide his pain like the stubborn little bitch he was.
"Alright, cut the act, Alastor," Lucifer said, interupting his stitching by crossing his arms. "There's absolutely no way this doesn't hurt. You don't need to act all tough and unbothered, I'm literally putting a needle through your open wound." He let out a huff of frustration, fed up with Alastor's pride. "Can you stop being so stubborn and drop the ego for five minutes?"
Alastor let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. Of course a needle sticking into his wound hurt like hell, but he didn’t want to look pathetic. His ego was much too large for that. "I-I'm... I'm fine," he insited, trembling and stuttering at the sheer agony.
Letting out a sigh of irritation, Lucifer felt his patience wearing thin.
"You're so immature. You really think that you're tough shit, huh? You really think that I believe this doesn’t hurt?" Lucifer put in another stich, this time more rough and much less gently than before.
Alastor let out a sudden noise of pain, immediately putting a hand to his mouth as he realized that he had let that slip.
There it was.
Despite the cocky smirk appearing on Lucifer's face, he felt his expression soften.
"Aw, the deer boy's not so tough after all, huh?"
Alastor felt his cheeks flush at Lucifer's comment, his hand still firmly over his mouth. "Shut the f-fuck up..." he muttered through his hand, hating the state of vulnerability he was in.
"Let me hear it."
"Pardon?"
"Let me hear you say that this hurts," Lucifer teased with a playful smile, continuing the rough stiching of the wound, clearly amused at every wince Alastor couldn't manage to supress.
As the stitching continued, Alastor felt a sharp, unbearble shot of pain surge through his chest everytime the needle was inserted into his skin. His whole body continuesly went from trembling to tensing up, and he was beginning to feel lightheaded and nauseous from the sheer amount of pain he was in. There was no way he was supressing this amount of pain. No goddamn way.
"ALRIGHT, THAT FUCKING HURTS!" Alastor finally yelled out.
Lucifer didn’t even try to stifle his laughter.
He burst out laughing, putting a hand to his mouth in an attempt to calm himself down, but the flustered look on Alastor's face was too amusing. He almost tipped over and collapsed right then and there.
Alastor was not impressed.
Once Lucifer finally calmed down, he ruffled Alastor's hair playfully, the tension between them starting to thin out. "Looks like the 'tough guy' can feel pain, huh? Alastor is a human being that can feel normal human emotions?! Why, I could never have guessed! I thought he was incapable of feeling any pain!" Lucifer teased dramatically, a wide, lively smile on his face which contrasted greatly from Alastor's scowl.
"Would you please shut up." Alastor muttered, face bright red.
"Alright, alright, I'll shut up," Lucifer said finally with a gentle voice, continuing to stitch him up, carefully this time, trying not to hurt him.
He glanced up at Alastor, noticing that every stitch and movement of the needle caused him to wince and let out a quiet noise of pain. Lucifer, instead of being petty and pointing it out, stayed quiet, smiling to himself. He was glad that Alastor wasn't deliberately trying to hide his pain like before.
He was warming up to him. Slowly but surely.
Finally, Lucifer pulled together the final stitch and closed up the wound. He glanced over at Alastor and felt himself smile as he saw the look of releif on Alastor's face.
"Alright, it's all stitched up," he said, reaching for the roll of bandages. "I just need to bandage it, which shouldn't hurt as much."
Alastor didn’t say anything. All he could think about was, despite the occasional relentless teasing, Lucifer was being so unnecessarily kind. He understood that Lucifer wanted to keep Charlie happy, but he felt as if the shorter man had some other intentions that he kept hidden behind his caring, happy veneer.
He was going to use Alastor's own tactics against him, wasn't he?
Lucifer was going to do this seemingly innocent favor for him and then demand something in return later when he least expected it.
Despite Alastor having convinced himself that Lucifer intentions were corrupt, for some reason, he couldn't help but find the man... endearing.
"There you go, Al. All patched up," Lucifer said, interupting Alastor's thoughts. He stood up, smiling at Alastor, just barely standing over him even though Alastor was sitting down.
Lucifer was towered over again as Alastor stood up, putting his blazer back on and subconsciously running his fingers through his hair and adjusting his collar as a way to keep himself looking more or less put together. "I soppose... we are done now, correct? You... you may leave now," he said, releived that the very humilating experience was finally over. He was glad to be covered up.
"Well..." Lucifer protesting timidly, nervously playing with his hair. "I was wondering if maybe I could stay the night?"
Alastor froze, staring at Lucifer with wide eyes and a flushed appearance.
"...Pardon?"
"AH- I MEAN- shit, uhm, because I-I need to make sure you're okay... like... giant gaping wound and all, heh..." Lucifer hid his face in his hands, realizing what he said came out a lot more... intimate... than he had hoped.
"Well, I... suppose you may?" Alastor replied. He studied Lucifer's appearance, looking for any sign of deviance in his movement or a hint of manipulation in his intentions. He was still waiting for the moment Lucifer would turn this little innocent act of helping him and use it against him as a way to command a favor in return or perhaps as blackmail to get Alastor serve him, but he couldn't find any trace of it. All he saw was a kind little man who was now nervously requesting to stay the night.
How peculiar.
"I-I'm sure Charlie can manage a night alone without me, right? She's independent, she'll be alright alone," Lucifer said aimlessly, trying to convince himself more than Alastor.
Alastor, almost accepting the fact that Lucifer's motivations weren't corrupt, suddenly snapped out of his thoughts.
"Then why exactly did you assign me with the job of protecting her all day?"
"Oh, shut up- I know you're sleep deprived, so just get to bed," Lucifer snapped, face bright red as he grabbed Alastor's wrist with a suprisingly firm grasp and dragged him toward the bedroom before roughly shoving him in and standing with his arms crossed in the doorway.
Alastor smiled, finding the man amusing, and dare I say, a bit endearing. "My, what a hopeless romantic you are, Lucifer."
"ALRIGHT, SHUT THE HELL UP I CAN SEE YOUR EYEBAGS FROM HERE GO TO SLEEP."
