Kremy and Gideon's Second Wedding

Summary:

Kremy and Gideon finally get round to celebrating their marriage properly in, technically, their second wedding.

Notes:

Hey everyone! I got sad writing my angsty fic about these two so I finally wanted to write some fluff... That someone ended up anxiety ridden for them. Feels like I'm projecting or something!

Please enjoy their second wedding.

I wrote this over two nights with some semberlance of sleep deprivation so there may be some spelling mistakes.

Every Kudos and Comment is appreciated, if you enjoy it I may write their honeymoon next and/ or the reception :)

Chapter 1: The Wedding

Chapter Text

He was sweating. Well he wasn’t but if he had hot blood, he would be. He pulled at his collar, becoming uncomfortable in his everyday suit wasn’t something he was expecting to happen the day of their wedding but it wasn’t much of a shock. Kremy was forever the practical man, the one with the plans and schemes but there wasn’t much that could be schemed on the day of the wedding. All he could do was wait and that was almost worse than the suit.

“Hello”

Frost’s voice cut through his thoughts as he stared into the mirror, the same reflection as always staring back at him. Unfortunately this version of himself looked terrified, tired, dazed and every other word that was created to describe the fraught look in his eyes.

“I gathered you may need this”

Frost held out a short tumbler of a golden liquid, shimmering gently in the mid morning sun. Kremy shot his best man a grateful look as he downed the entirety of the Whiskey in one flick of his wrist and slammed the glass back onto a nearby table with a trembling claw.

“Why am I so nervous, Frost? We’re already married and we’ve been dating for years”

“One may chalk it up to the fact that this is the most serious thing you’ve ever completed for yourself that wasn’t driven by money or evading authorities”

Kremy nodded along with his friends, skipping over the more complex words as his mind swam incomprehensively. He sat down like a sack of potatoes onto the plush velvet of the fancy high backed chair that was one of two that added to the room’s high calibre appeal. They, well mostly himself, had saved up for years to be able to afford a place like this to host their actual celebration of marriage that wasn’t completed simply due to a senile satyr and a fae curse. He wanted to give his husband a special moment, a memory of a time where they actually professed their love in front of their friends and loved ones. Well as much of them as he could gather and as many could make the long trip out to Agwe. Gideon had fallen in love with it almost instantly and Kremy had moved heaven and earth to ensure he gave his new husband everything he was able. No one knew about the constant calculations going on inside his head. This place on this day had been worth more than 3 months stay in a mid range inn for the night. Gid’s new suit had amounted to nearly a months worth of rations for them.

“Ya real smart sometimes Frost, ya know that?”

Frost tilted his head coyly, allowing himself to gracefully lower into the chair that was opposite his friends. After years of the two sending longing looks every time the others back was turned, they had finally confessed after the near death, or maybe actual death, experience of the Jabberwocky. Frost and Gricko hadn’t seen them for nearly two days after that and he had decided to block the potential activities that might’ve occurred from his brain. He had sent knowing looks to the two when they had finally emerged hand in hand and announced to everyone they were dating. It hadn’t made for an easy time as of yet, what with Gideon carrying on with his flirtacious ways but it surprisingly hadn’t bothered either men as much as they thought. Whilst they were both very aware that their relationship was theirs and theirs alone, an occasional tryst with another outside of themselves was a concept they were coming around to. Therefore today was the day they would finally make honest men of each other. Within reason.

Frost smiled towards the nervous lizardfolk, unsure if he’d ever really seen him act this way before when it didn’t stem from being close to being caught scamming. He rested a gentle paw on Kremy’s shoulder which was shaking from the extent of his nerves. With a flourish, he retrieved a second tumbler of Whisky to pass to his boss.

“This will be the last one. We don’t want you being so drunk you forget the best day of your life”

Kremy sighed deeply before taking the drink and downing it in the same fashion as he had the first. “Yeah, ya right”

They both sat in silence for a short while, both staring out of the window that looked onto the scenic surrounds. Thank the baron they day was still as beautiful as it started as they were due to marry outside in less than an hour. Frost had obviously been sent as a gentle prompt for timing and to ensure that Kremy hadn’t already vacated the premises. Not that that was going to happen but his feet were itching to take Gideon, to run from this place and all of the prying eyes of the ones they loved. A deep sigh turned into a groan as he sunk down lower in his seat, burying his snout into his clawed hands.

“Just remember, the only one that matters already loves you more than even I can comprehend”

A snort rose from Kremy at that remark. It wasn’t as if Frost were an unloveable person by any means but he had been made aware by Gricko he wasn’t exactly the most touchy-feely type. Gricko never mentioned feeling unloved by him but he’d commented on many occasions that he wished he was as open as Gideon was when it came to professing love. The man mountain was basically a 24/7 banner than proclaimed his love for Kremy now that they had finally professed their love to each other and now they were about to do it in front of many, many more people.

With that though, Frost stood up and stretched his back out with the same groan a much older man would make.

“Okay, we need to go”

Kremy’s heart rate, that had slowed down during their conversation, began to speed to that of a hummingbirds once again but he nodded his head slowly as he rose from the chair.

Gideon had been waiting so many years for this day. Well not this day exactly, he’d waited many years for the day that they would finally decide to be honest about their feelings for the other but this was a very close second. His excitement was palpable for anyone that checked on him and even those without the same knowledge of his demeanour could tell due to him being ready to go with more than an hour to wait.  Every short while he would pop his head out of the door to see more guests had arrived but a stern look from Frost would have him slithering back into the eternal waiting room. The two men had flipped a coin on who would have who when it came to Best Men and Gideon had managed to win Gricko in the toss. Most other times he would curse his shit luck but he had a feeling that Kremy needed a more comforting presence than the small Goblin.

As if on que, Gricko barelled through the door looking like a kid in a candy store for no other reason than he was excited to be a part of his best friend’s wedding, something he never thought would be a possibility what with their thick headedness.

“Ooooh Gideon, you look faaaancy” He crooned, giving him his best wolf whistle. Gideon grinned wider, turning in place to give Gricko the whole effect. After months of discussions, debates and colour matching, they had finally decided to create a handmade suit for him. Kremy had cringed at the cost, even after the bartering, but had been assured by the other three men that it wasn’t a one off use and this was something Gideon could wear for years to come.  Kremy had had some input on the suit but he’d been banished from the room long before the first fitting. Sure, they weren’t a traditional couple but Gideon wasn’t given many opportunities to surprise his new husband so this was one of many things he planned to do that with.

The suit laid perfectly on him, custom made to fit him and his manacles to tie in his past and present instead of trying to separate the two. Black fabric clung to every extremity of him, a maroon shirt peeking out from inbetween to match the red pocketsquare that was delicately placed in his jacket. He struck a strong man type pose, shooting a smolder at his friend with a laugh. Lucky for him, they had had this made by a magical tailor to ensure it was fire and tear proof for these exact moments.

“Ya think he’ll like it?”

Gricko snorted, rolling his eyes dramatically. “The man would have married you naked”

“He would never”

Gricko hummed with agreement. “Yeah, he’s too… ya know… for that”

He did know, Kremy had always been a little precious about clothing, his own in particular, but it was one of the many things he loved about him. He took so much pride in his appearance despite his less than stellar beginnings and who was he to demand that it needed to be changed?

“How’s the surprise plannin’ comin’?”

Gricko blanched at that, turning a shade of green that he wasn’t sure was entirely down to his goblin heritage. “Don’t. It’s making me sick. I’m so nervous”

Gideon slapped his friend on the back, sending him stumbling a few metres further in front of him. He grimaced, an apology on his lips as Gricko turned around to level him with a glare.

“Sorry, forget ma own strength sometimes. An’ ya got nothin’ to worry about, Frost loves ya”

“Yeah but that’s my issue, what if he thinks its too soon?”

Gideon shook his head, grinning at the same nervousness he had shown so many months ago. “Can’t be any sooner than mine and Krem’s first weddin’”

Gricko laughed at that, remembering fondly the day he had got out of that damned pixie marriage. He thanked the gods everyday that Kremy had swindled that for them, even more so now that he was planning to propose to Frost. Unlike Gideon, Gricko didn’t want to be a poly-whatever it’s called and he had his sights set solely on one Tabaxi that seemed so unapproachable to most.

“When ya gunna do it?”

His friend hummed in thought, tapping a finger against his lips before slumping down into a nearby chair. “I don’t know”

Gideon sat in the chair opposite him, laughing internally about the fact that the roles were most probably reversed in the room across the building. As much as his husband had a silver tongue when it came to business and conning, he lost all cool and compsure when it came to Gideon. It was as if he channelled everything into his professional life that he run out in regards to personal affairs. Gideon found it cute but Kremy found it frustrating.

Gideon was knocked out of his revelrie when Frost popped his head around the corner of his open door. Gricko stared at Gideon with wide eyes, wondering if he had heard any of their conversation. For his part, Frost looked the same as he typically did which seemed to cause Gricko to relax slightly.

“I’m going to get Kremy, are you ready?”

Gideon shot from his seat, taking a second to clumsily dance around it. “I’ve been ready for years, Frosty!”

As Frost left the men alone once again, Gideon felt a small ball of nerves begin to knock around his stomach. He took a deep breath, running a hand through his painstakingly styled hair, shooting a look towards Gricko.

“Don’t even start thinking that, Gid. He’ll be there”

Gideon nodded resolutely, knowing his anxiety was unfounded considering they were already married. Both men made their way outside, the trees beginning to thicken in number to create a private oasis in the city landscape that reminded both men of their humble beginnings. Chairs of oak that had been beautifully carved and sealed were placed in rows separated by an aisle that Gideon was currently walking down in order to reach the front where a minister was standing. They had made sure to vet this particular one least they end up married to Gricko and Frost this time. Gideon stopped when he reached the minister, shaking his hand quickly before settling himself to where he would stand and wait for his husband.

With only a few moments delay, gentle music began to start playing from the small collection of musicians they had managed to wrangle together with promise of only a small amount of gold. As they did so, Twig and Torbek appeared from where Gideon and Gricko had been only moments before wearing co-ordinating outfits that she had demanded of Torbek. Torbek wore a light brown suit that, although not nearly as well done as Gideon’s, had been tailored to fit him perfectly.

Twig had made sure he was properly bathed so his hair shone gloriously in the midday sun, small white bows tying his longer hair back in an attempt to convey some semblance of polish. Twig was wearing a matching coloured dress that reached just below her knees, the sleeves just above her elbows. The dress flowed from her midsection complete with depictions of small flowers and plants that had been painstakingly embroidered. She completed her look with a crown of fresh daisies to match the ones she was throwing onto the forest floor with the happiest smile they had ever seen glued to her features.

When she reached Gideon, she punched his lower thigh gently, the grin continuing as she did so. “I always knew you’d end up together!”

Gideon grinned back at her, lifting her up to give her a quick hug before setting her back down on the ground again. “Thanks Twiggsy, couldn’t had done it without ya”

She blushed a gentle pink at the compliment before skipping to her assigned seat at the front of the rows of chairs. Torbek turned to Gideon, trying to mirror the smile that Twig had given him but instead just treating his friend to a front row view of his decayed teeth.

“Torbek is very happy for Gideon and Mr Kremy. Torbek wishes Torbek had brought Clementine”

Gideon patted him uncomfortably on the shoulder as Twig grabbed his collasal hand in her own to drag him to sit next to her.

A new sweat began to prickle at Gideon’s neck as the music changed tempo, signalling the entry of his soon-to-be ‘proper’ husband. Flashes of different outcomes began to swim in his vision, white noise overwhelming the music that played the introduction of Kremy. Green hands began to break through the images as he saw the concerned face of Gricko staring up at him.

“’m Okay”

Gricko nodded, resolve in his face letting him know that this wasn’t the end of the conversation.  Gideon confirmed this wordlessly as he attempted to slow the rate of his breathing. He was happy. He was safe. He was loved.

Kremy stepped from behind the tree that had shielded him from vision, feeling the fool as everyone stood up to take in the full effect of him as he made his way down the aisle to where Gideon and the minister stood waiting. Seeing Gideon for the first time that day had him feeling every emotion he wasn’t sure he had but by the love of the baron, he felt every single one.

He looked gorgeous. He looked nervous. Kremy secretly breathed a sigh of relief that he wasn’t the only one who had nerves going into a wedding that was practically already concrete. Several layers of abandonment would do that to a person, or people, he mused. The guys were right, the suit wasn’t flashy enough to be obviously just for the use in a wedding and Kremy was damned sure he was going to get him to use it on every occasion they could for the rest of their lives. Every single gold coin was worth it, especially for the look of relief that flooded Gideon’s face as soon as he caught sight of his husband.

When Kremy reached Gideon, his husband wasted no time by placing a gentle kiss full of emotion on his cheek, elation finally leaking back into his features.

“How ya managed to look this incredible in ya own suit, I will never know”

“Must be the person wearing it”

Gideon grinned at that before they both turned to face the minister, Kremy grabbing Gideon’s hand and entwining their fingers as soon as he was able. Gentle pressure returned from his palm, the warmth seeping into the coolness of his scales. Contentment swam inside of him as he stared up at the profile of his husband. Baron provides.
