Work Text:

Ace stumbled around the factory. This is not what his choice of residence. Especially after the shit he went through when he was younger. Nope. No. Hell no. Who the actual fuck decided to fuck with him and put him back here? Especially with the abandoned feel...

Huggy already attacked him. Kind of. He was going to until he got a clear view of Ace. Instead, he wrapped him in a hug. Ace could swear Huggy was crying.

He also pissed himself with fear.

Unfortunately, there were still clothes that fit him in the factory. Even worse? They were his clothes as a boy. Ace sighed, “Thanks, Huggy.”

The being smiled impossibly wider.

“Huggy,” he frowns, “How do I escape?”

Huggy shakes his head and makes a gesture with his hand. Ace recognized it, even after all these years. Stuck.

“No, that’s not true. I got here somehow.”

Huggy twisted his hand.

“Locked? The fuck do you mean it’s locked?! Oh, wait, I’m an idiot. It was always fucking locked when we were kids. Whatever. We need to find an exit somehow. Do you have any ideas?”

Huggy shakes his head, but he holds out his hands, spread them, and shook them like a noodle.

“...Mommy Long Legs would know?”

Huggy makes a so-so gesture.

“She might know. Okay. Whatever. Let’s go.” Ace freezes when Huggy doesn’t follow. “...What?”

He recognized this one. It was actual american sign language. Eat.

“SHE’LL EAT ME?!”

Huggy shook his head and tried again.

“...She’ll eat you? Why? Weren’t you on The Prototype’s side during the Hour of Joy?

“...Oh, it’s because your sister isn’t. She was an employee. Mommy doesn’t trust her.”

He nods.

“Shit.”

With a (admittedly) heartfelt goodbye, Ace was forced to go deeper into the factory. The testing station almost made him vomit. He was always scared of the bright colors and the pressure. Huggy said Mommy tended to stay at her station, but of course he couldn’t tell Ace where.

What had happened? The bond between the kids turned into monsters was so strong.

...But so was Huggy’s bond with Kissy. They loved each other. Born on the same day, turned on the same day, too. They were adopted siblings.

Of course the story of the people in the bodies were different.

Kissy Missy was originally an employee on the kids side. She fucked up the paintball gun as a distraction, so she was turned into Kissy Missy.

What was never advertised— never found out— was that it worked in Ace Markey’s favor. Then the Hour of Joy happened, so they never had the chance to go after Ace.

He was free.

And the only ever survivor of Playtime co.

Ace stopped at a hole in the floor.

Why was this...?

A huge pink hand erupted from the floor and wrapped itself around his waist. Ace screamed, trying to pry it off, but it wouldn’t let go. It dragged him down under.

It dropped him a couple feet off the ground. He landed on his foot wrong and ended up falling on his ass. His ankle wasn’t hurt, thank God, but because he was sitting down it gave the creature that grabbed him an unfair advantage.

The creature... he definitely knew her.

Mommy was suspended ten feet above him, glaring down with innocent eyes and a smile, “Well, look at what the knockoff cookie monster has dragged in.”

“Isn’t the saying supposed to be—“

“I KNOW WHAT THE SAYING IS SUPPOSED TO BE!”

Ace yelped with fear and covered his arms with his face.

“You... oh, I remember you, Acey.”

Marie? But it couldn’t be. Marie was dead. She was turned into an— ohhhhh fuck.

He scrambled backwards, “I d- didn’t know—“

“Don’t worry. Now that I know who you are, I have no reason to hurt you,” she coos. Her eyes, which were starting become wide and black, gently morphed back to their regular green.

“I- I th- thought you were dead,” Ace stammered.

“I would be better off if I was,” she answered, not missing a beat.

What? “How the hell do you recognize me?” he demands.

“We were in playcare together. Do you not know who I am, or are you playing dumb again?”

Ace grit his teeth. He never played dumb, he just was. Marie was the only person who thought he was smarter than he seemed. “M- Marie?”

She leans closer, “Yes.”

“Do you know a way out of here?”

“I was hoping to ask you the same question.”

***

Ace had no idea, but he had a feeling he was going to get eaten if he didn’t find one soon. The more he hung out with her, the less Mommy and Marie were alike. The monster version was insane. Clinically and criminally.

One time he suggested they go farther into the factory, she replied with food and a threat.

Last time he ever brought that up again.

Ace was starting to worry about himself. He needed to escape from here. It’s one only been a couple hours but he can feel himself edging towards insanity in this dimly lit, bloody factory.

Mommy Long Legs wasn’t stopping him from leaving, he was just too scared to leave her side. Already, two monsters had attacked him thinking he was someone else. They say three times the charm. Even though none of the monsters here had a reason to kill him, who said they wouldn’t mistake him for someone else.

“I was told you knew a way out,” Ace accuses.

The irises in Mommy’s eyes became wider. She grinned at him in a way that made him instantly regret asking, “I have a idea, though it might not work so well.”

Any plan seemed like a plan to Ace. “What is it?”

“Blowing up the entire building,” she said slowly.

“Wouldn’t that kill you too?!”

“Don’t worry,” her voice sounds smooth, like chocolate, “There aren’t any explosives. I checked.”

Oh thank GOD.

But that night, when their escape efforts were fruitless, he came up with a plan.

That he... was too scared to do.

Maybe if he had... but he had to get away from Mommy first.

Ace looks around. She was nowhere to be seen.

After a couple minutes of testing out his limits, Ace started to climb back up to the floor with Huggy. Hopefully he could help.

Mommy was waiting for him at the top.

“Where are you going, Acey?”

Halfway over the ledge, Ace swallows back enough fear so that he could speak, “I’m finding us a fucking way out of here.”

“Then by all means, lead the way.”

Ace pulls himself up until he’s standing and brushes some debris off of him, “Alone, Marie.”

Her lips curl, but she lets him pass.

Huggy isn’t too hard to find. He was on his guarding post, towering over the lobby of Playtime co. If you didn’t know any better, you would think he looked like a statue, not a horrifying cannaballistic monster.

“Huggy,” Ace starts, putting his fists on his hips and pushing his weight on one leg. “Wanna get out of this dump?”

He lowers his head silently.

“Mommy doesn’t know a way out, but she gave me an idea. If you grab Kissy, I’ll get us the fuck out of here. I need her for my plan.”

Huggy raises his arms and shoulders.

“Well, I’M not going to get her!”

Huggy rolls his eyes and, as Ace gasps with offense, walks away. He sends a silent prayer that he went to go grab Kissy.

Ace is shaking as he sets the bomb in front of the door. He’s terrified— for obvious reasons. What if the bomb goes off? What if he doesn’t? What if he has such a shit hiding job that he ends up getting blown up?

Before he could overthink it, Ace lights the fuse and starts running away.

He makes it to his hiding spot in record time and, bless her heart, Kissy picks him up and wraps her body around him. He curls into himself, allowing her protection.

Two minutes later, an explosion happens.

Walking back to the wreckage, Huggy makes his infamous spider gesture in a question.

Ace steps forward, “See for yourself.”

It was bright outside— which didn’t fit the mood. In the rubble, bits of bright pink melted into the rock and stuck out at awkward angles.

Exhausted, Ace turns to Huggy, “Yep.”

“We’re free,” Kissy signed.
