"I don't get it!" Kira screamed, throwing his pen down on the floor. Well- throwing his pen downwards. The pen was caught by Killer Queen before it could make contact with the tatami mat. He watched as she put it in the table.
She. Killer Queen was distinctly female, which was something that Kira couldn't manage to wrap his head around. At first, he didn't figure there was much reasoning to it-maybe it was because her name was Killer Queen, which was a distinctly female noun. Or maybe it was because, as stereotypical as it would have been, she was colored pink all over.
He couldn't explain how he knew she was female. It was just an aura he understood as soon as she had manifested in his life-that his Stand, named Killer Queen after the song, was feline and female. (He had named her, after his favorite song. Could that be why? No, he had felt that feminine presence before he had even bothered to give her a name.)
"Queen, stop catching my pens," Kira said in a flat tone with a sigh, but took it from her as it was offered, anyway. He was able to switch from full of rage to pure monotony in an instant-an instinct he had learned after years of attempting to slip under the radar. He held his pen over the form again, frowning.
This form, a renewal of lease, only needed a very simple two things-for Kira to stamp it in the box with his hanko seal, which was already completed, with the kanji for his family name already in the designated area, and to give it an additional mount of authenticity by signing his name on the line at the bottom of the page. Currently, the line at the bottom of the page was only three-quarters of the way complete, reading a distinct Kira Yoshi, with the fourth kanji missing.
"It should be simple," he whispered to himself, staring at the form with the pen off to the side on the table. "Why isn't it simple?"
Queen made her way over and grabbed the pen, letting Kira lay his head down flat on the table as she grabbed the form and wrote the -kage kanji for him that he just couldn't manage to put in himself.
"Why isn't it simple, Queen?" he asked, in a sigh that was clearly the only form of expression he could manage to give at the moment.
Queen grabbed a blank sheet of paper and drew a line and a box with the pen, handing it over to him. And using his hanko and the pen, he stamped his family name and wrote, in delicate kanji, "Kira Yoshiko".
..." Kira dropped the pen, put his head down on the table, and finally let out a sob.
