SCP GROUP 8956

Item #: SCP-8956-1, “Jonny d’Ville”, formerly classified as SCP-8956

Object class: Euclid

Special containment procedures:

SCP-8956-1 is to be contained in a Level 4 High Security Humanoid Cell in sector-76 at site-16 with at least one security camera directed at the anomaly at all times and no less than two armed guards present when interacting with Foundation staff, as SCP-8956-1 has been found to be highly aggressive to researchers. SCP-8956-1’s room is to be completely empty, with the exception of essential items, to minimize risk of the anomaly causing harm to itself or the containment area.

Description:

SCP-8956-1 resembles a humanoid cis male in his late twenties or early thirties, measuring roughly 170 cm (5 feet 6 inches) in height. It has disheveled and almost feral appearance with unique steampunk adjacent attire and sharp makeup. X-rays showed it possesses a normal human skeleton, with the exception of a brass mechanism where the anomalies heart should have been.

Discovery:

SCP-8956-1 was first contained after it was shot by police while pursuing it for several counts of homicide, only to come back to life after the bullet holes had healed. It took several hours to sedate the anomaly, and three members of SCP staff were seriously injured as a result.

The initial interview after its capture was conducted by level 4 researcher Dr. Janet Kilbride.

Date: 18/10/2013

Time: 13:45

Interviewer: Dr. Janet Kilbride

Interviewee: SCP-8956-1 (at this time only known as SCP-8956), “Jonny d’Ville”

[BEGIN LOG]

Kilbride: Good afternoon, SCP-8956. My name is Dr. Janet Kilbride, I’ll be conducting your intake interview. I take it you are fully conscious now.

d’Ville: Doctor, eh? Another smartass trying to study me? No-one’s original these days. Yes, unfortunately I’m quite awake.

Kilbride: Good. Now, I’m going to ask you a few questions, if that’s all right with you.

d’Ville: Would it change anything if I said no?

Kilbride: No.

d’Ville: That’s what I thought.

[a short silence]

Kilbride: Now, let’s start off simple. What is your name?

d’Ville: Other than the serial number you give all the shit in here? Jonny d’Ville.

Kilbride: Right, Jonny. No need for foul language.

d’Ville: I think you’ll find there’s always a need for foul language somewhere. I assume I’m here because of the whole can’t-die thing.

Kilbride: Yes, quite right. Could you tell us more about this ability?

d’Ville: I’m afraid not. Most of it’s just very complicated science jargon that I couldn’t begin to decipher. I get shot, I heal back up. Simple.

Kilbride: We’re going to need to figure out more details if we’re going to properly understand you.

[SCP-8956-1 laughed for a few seconds]

d’Ville: Yeah, good luck with that one.

[END LOG]

Interviewer’s note: SCP-8956 did not attempt any violent behaviour through the duration of the interview, though this would later prove to be an exception. It appears extremely bored when not given sufficient stimuli, though acts as though it is used to being tested on frequently.

SCP-8956 possessed several weapons when first detained, consisting of four six-shooter pistols, a lighter, pocketknife, and a box of matches, none of which were found to be anomalous. All were confiscated after SCP-8956’s containment.

Two days passed between the intake interview and the first official tests conducted on SCP-8956-1 and its anomaly. It was placed in a secure cell and left alone to see what kind of things it would do to keep itself entertained. Due to its violent and criminal track record, two armed guards were stationed along with Dr. Kilbride in the observation room in case SCP-8956-1 became destructive.

The anomaly spent a large part of day one cursing and holding a middle finger up to the security cameras, showing clear agitation. After several hours of this behaviour, it sat down on its bed and began singing. Assistant researcher David Peters identified the song as a version of ‘O were I on Parnassus hill’ with heavily altered lyrics.

Dr. Kilbride denied SCP-8956-1’s request for a harmonica to be provided, citing that it could be used as an offensive weapon.

Day two proved even more uneventful with the anomaly spending most of the day talking to itself and singing.

Testing:

Due to the nature of SCP-8956-1’s anomaly, most experiments proved quite violent to conduct, though the anomaly seemed willing to participate in almost any activity if it promised the possibility of bodily harm inflicted upon someone, either by it or to it.

Experiment 01.

Date: 20/10/2013

Duration: 5 minutes

SCP-8956-1 was placed in a chair and tied to it with restraints to minimize the possibility of violent outbursts. Level 4 assistant researcher David Peters, wearing protective gear, cut a small incision into its arm to test the speed of the anomaly’s regenerative abilities. SCP-8956-1 requested this be done without topical anesthetic and seemed to have little to no reaction to the pain.

The cut healed within five minutes of the injury being first administered and the anomaly did not report any discomfort, though this could be due to being accustomed to the sensation.

Various measuring devices used to identify paranormal activity and transdimensional anomalies were placed in the room with SCP-8956-1 and all readings remained normal, confirming that the anomaly was likely more biological in nature.

Experiment 02.

Date: 21/10/2013

Duration: 32 minutes

SCP-8956-1 was decapitated in a controlled environment in one clean cut, its head placed on a small table on one side of the room, the rest of its body placed on the other side. The anomalies head remained conscious throughout and though it was less than cooperative with answering routine questions, it did show an ability to communicate legibly through various curses in the direction of the researchers.

Meanwhile, its body seemed capable of moving by itself as-well, feeling to try and find its head, which was yelling directions at it. SCP-8956-1 once again reported little pain after the initial blow and after 32 minutes of blind stumbling the anomalies body managed to find the head and reattached it to itself, ending the experiment.

SCP-8956-1 attempted to throw one of the tables at the researchers, though was unsuccessful due to the table being bolted to the floor as a precaution and the anomaly was wrestled back into its cell.

Incident 01-A:

Three days after experiment 02 was conducted (24/10/2013) SCP-8956-1 attempted to escape containment. Footage from the day shows that the anomaly began screaming at approximately 10:26 and stopped at 11:56, which is when it began kicking the walls of it’s cell. At approximately 12:32 it smashed two of the security cameras and after brute forcing its cell door open, bit and clawed its way through the armed officers, seriously injuring both. Five other level 5 personnel were quickly dispatched and eventually managed to sedate the anomaly.

Officers Jones and Nguyen were admitted to the hospital wing and Jones ended up dying from her injuries two days later.

Updated containment procedure:

SCP-8956-1 is to be carefully moved to a Level 5 High Security Humanoid Containment Cell in sector-76 of site-16 with three or more security cameras placed in its cell. Cameras must be surrounded by bullet proof glass. The anomalies interactions with researchers should be monitored by at least two highly trained level 5 security officers and should be done exclusively through bullet proof glass unless necessary for experimentation.

A follow-up interview was conducted by Dr. Kilbride the next day, following the newly implemented containment procedure.

Date: 25/10/2013

Time: 15:10

Interviewer: Dr. Janet Kilbride

Interviewee: SCP-8956-1 (at this time only known as SCP-8956, “Jonny d’Ville”

[BEGIN LOG]

Kilbride: Good afternoon, Jonny.

[SCP-8956-1 half-chuckled half-scoffed]

d’Ville: I didn’t expect us to be on a first name basis. Shall I start calling you Janet?

Kilbride: I would rather you didn’t.

d’Ville: So would I.

[a short moment of silence]

Kilbride: You tried to escape, didn’t you.

d’Ville: yes, I think every level 5 researcher in sector-76 knows that. You fuckers proved to be tougher than I had expected.

Kilbride: The screaming, before you started smashing cameras. What was that about?

d’Ville: We all get frustrated.

Kilbride: yes, well most people don’t send people into the hospital when they’re frustrated. I think we’ll get you to see one of our parapsychologists.

d’Ville: (sarcastically) Oh joy of joys.

Kilbride: no need to sound so thrilled.

[END LOG]

Interviewer’s note: SCP-8956 seemed to tense up at the mention of psychological interference. I made it an appointment with Dr. Yasmin Finley, one of our top parapsychologists for a psychological screening.

Sessions with Dr. Finley:

SCP-8956-1 was extremely uncooperative with Dr. Finley for their first several sessions, loudly cursing at her for most of the hour. She attempted to ask it about its living conditions at the foundation, to which it usually just scoffed or gave her the finger. Though she seemed to get it to talk to her by the fifth session or so.

Transcription of session #5 between

Dr. Yasmin Finley and SCP-8956-1 (at this time only known as SCP-8956,

“Jonny d’Ville”

Date: 15/11/2013

Time: 13:15

[BEGIN TRANSCRIPTION]

[SCP-8956-1 laid on the velvet sofa in Dr. Finley’s office, sprawled out comfortably while Dr. Finley sat on a similarly velvet armchair.]

Finley: Good afternoon, Jonny. How are we today?

[SCP-8956-1 did not reply]

Finley: I see. Not in a talking mood today either?

d’Ville: Talking about your feelings is for the weak.

Finley: Well, Mr. d’Ville, I’m impressed. You managed to form a sentence without using profanity.

[Dr. Finley chuckled. SCP-8956-1 did not.]

Finley: And why do you think that? That ‘talking about your feelings is for the weak?’

[SCP-8956-1 remained silent]

Finley: I see… and the violence? You do know there are other ways to solve problems.

[Dr. Finley smiled warmly]

d’Ville: Go live for a few thousand years and tell me what you think.

Finley: I doubt anyone not already dispositioned to violence would have such… creative solutions to problems.

d’Ville: The bed was uncomfy, I smashed the bed apart and made a nest on the floor, the bed is comfy now.

Finley: Yes, but the bed is also just scrap metal now.

d’Ville: I don’t see your point.

[Dr. Finley sighed]

[END TRANSCRIPTION]

Note from Dr. Finley: SCP-8956 has a tendency to repress emotions, which could possibly be what’s manifesting itself as violent outbursts. But it isn’t stupid, it is clearly capable of intelligent reasoning (tests needed to confirm) and knows exactly what it’s doing. It just doesn’t seem to care.

no further breakthroughs have been made in SCP-8956-1’s sessions with Dr. Finley, and its behaviour and mental state was slowly deteriorating, neglecting personal hygiene even more than was usual and spending most days sitting in silence or singing quietly.

Experiment 03.

Date: 17/11/2013

Duration: 1 hour 3 minutes

SCP-8956-1 was placed in a climate-controlled room and instructed to sit on a metal chair and report its reactions to the temperature. The control temperature was set to 25 °C and the anomaly reported no discomfort, though not without its usual colourful language. The temperature was then raised to 35 °C, to which SCP-8956-1 reported sweating and general discomfort. The experiment was recalibrated again by setting the temperature to 25 °C again before dropping to 10 °C, to which the anomaly reported feeling cold, though it reported less discomfort than the high temperature.

The experiment did not show any strange reactions from SCP-8956-1 to temperature, as it seemed to react how an average person would.

Experiment 04.

Date: 18/11/2013

Duration: 3 minutes

SCP-8956-1 was securely tied to a chair and a large needle was slowly inserted into its arm. The anomaly was instructed to report when the pain became unbearable. The experiment had to be ended prematurely as the needle had gone directly through SCP-8956-1’s arm without any reports of unbearable pain.

Incident 02-A:

On 20/11/2013 at 10:24 three other anomalies broke into sector-76 in site-16 in an attempt to help SCP-8956-1. They hacked into the security systems and killed 3 researchers, wounding about a dozen more. 15 level 5 security officers were dispatched and eventually sedated all three. 4 officers were seriously injured and 2 were killed as a result of this break-in.

The three anomalies were placed in three Level 5 High Security Humanoid Containment Cells under more or less the same conditions as SCP-8956-1, with some alterations. Several tests were conducted that showed their anomalous properties to be nearly identical to SCP-8956-1 and thus were given identification numbers derived from SCP-8956-1 and SCP-8956’s identification number was officially changed to SCP-8956-1.

Item #: SCP-8956-2, “Ashes O’Reilly”

Object class: Euclid

Special containment procedure:

No flammable objects are allowed within 2 meters of the anomaly. Its bedframe and cell walls must be made of metal and all matches, lighters, cigarettes, etc. are to be confiscated immediately. SCP-8956-2 is not excessively aggressive to researchers, unlike SCP-8956-1, but as a precaution it does still require officers to be present when interacting with SCP staff.

Description:

SCP-8956-2 has an androgynous humanoid appearance. The anomaly is relatively short with dark skin and curly black and red hair. Upon first capture it remained quite calm and poker-faced, even when interviewed by Dr. Kilbride, though it was less than cooperative. X-rays showed the anomaly had a normal human skeleton, except for brass mechanisms where its lungs should have been, similarly to SCP-8956-1’s heart. SCP-8956-2’s body temperature has been measured to be several degrees above an average person’s, measuring at an average of 40 °C¹, and the anomaly seems to have an unusual affinity for heat.

Item #: SCP-8956-3, “Nastya Rasputina”

Object class: Euclid

Special containment procedure:

SCP-8956-3’s interaction with any form technology outside of tests is to be carefully monitored as it seems to create a form of bond with them, similar to a human befriending a stranger, and claims to be able to communicate with them. All locks on SCP-8956-3’s cell should be analogue in nature or risk a break-out.

Description:

SCP-8956-3 resembles a sickly pale young woman with brown and blue hair and thin rimmed glasses. Upon containment several tools were confiscated from its belt, consisting of a wrench, screwdriver, hammer, pouch of variously sized screws, and two unknown electric tools, none of which were found to be anomalous.

English does not seem to be the anomalies native language as speaks with a prominent Russian accent and was heard muttering curses in what seemed to be some form the same language. When asked about it, SCP-8956-3 claimed it was ‘Cyberian’, though the foundations Russian translator seemed to be able to understand it. Tests showed that the cause of SCP-8956-3’s pale, desaturated skin was pure mercury in place of its blood.

Dr. Kilbride conducted an intake interview with SCP-8956-3, hoping it would be more cooperative than SCP-8956-2 and SCP-8956-1.

Date: 21/11/2013

Time: 12:15

Interviewer: Dr. Janet Kilbride

Interviewee: SCP-8956-3, “Nastya Rasputina”

[BEGIN LOG]

Kilbride: Good afternoon, miss…?

Rasputina: Nastya Rasputina.

Kilbride: Miss Rasputina. Are you Russian?

Rasputina: Cyberian.

Kilbride: I see.

[a short pause]

Kilbride: You seem to be quite talented when it comes to machinery.

Rasputina: Are you referring to our break in? It was quite simple. You really need to update your security systems.

Kilbride: It’s still quite impressive. You’re much more cooperative than your… associates.

Rasputina: Yes, I did not expect Jonny to be thriving in captivity. He is like a shark, always moving. What is it that you do here, anyway?

Kilbride: We study and contain anomalies such as yourself. SCP stands for Special Containment Protocol. Our mission is to understand these anomalies and protect humanity from the more disruptive ones.

Rasputina: Hmm. Shame that Raphaella did not come with us, she would have loved this place.

Kilbride: Raphaella? is she another anomaly?

Rasputina: If you mean that she is immortal, then yes, she in an ‘anomaly’.

Kilbride: And where is Raphaella now?

Rasputina: Back on Aurora. ох блин (oh shoot), I do hope no one harms Aurora while I’m gone.

Kilbride: Aurora…?

Rasputina: Our ship.

Kilbride: Right…

[END LOG]

Interviewer’s note: SCP-8956-3 was significantly more cooperative than SCP-8956-1 and SCP-8956-2, answering most questions without problems. When asked for more details about the ship ‘Aurora’, SCP-8956-3 began explaining its inner workings in great detail, occasionally describing parts of the ship as ‘beautiful’ and other terms of endearment. This may relate to the anomalies tendency to befriend machines.

Further tests were carried out on SCP-8956-3’s anomaly, which seems to function in an identical manner to SCPs 8956-1 and 8956-2’s anomalies, with the exception of bleeding mercury instead of normal blood like the latter two anomalies. SCP-8956-3 seems to be much more sensitive to low temperatures, reporting being uncomfortably cold at temperatures as high as 18 °C. This is likely due to the mercury which acts as a replacement for the anomalies blood.

Item #: SCP-8956-4, “The Toy Soldier”

Object class: Safe

Special containment procedure:

SCP-8956-4 seems to have no issue with containment, enthusiastically following any and all order from SCP foundation staff. When first contained, SCP-8956-4 showed no resistance when ordered to stop, immediately doing so and saluting the SCP staff. it requires less overwatch than the other anomalies, though still has the potential to be dangerous to staff, so caution is advised when interacting with the anomaly.

Description:

SCP-8956-4 is made almost entirely of wood, with the exception  of its vocal cords which it claims it “took from an angel-voiced singer”. It possesses a cartoonishly drawn on moustache and insists on wearing an army uniform. It is by far the most docile and cooperative of the 8956 anomalies, happily answering all questions posed by staff, though it seemed a bit confused as to what those questions actually were.

Tests showed that strangely enough, SCP-8956-4 is not capable of the same regenerative abilities as the other anomalies, and due to its uniquely wooden nature could warrant being an SCP all on its own, separate from the other 8956 anomalies. If its wooden body is damaged it needs to be repaired, though SCP-8956-4 does not report any pain when this happens. When ‘killed’, SCP-8956-4 appears to pretend to be dead or injured, when in actuality fully conscious², and when asked why it had no answer.

An intake interview was conducted by Dr. Kilbride, much to SCP-8956-4’s enthusiasm.

Date: 21/11/2013

Time: 15:45

Interviewer: Dr. Janet Kilbride

Interviewee: SCP-8956-4, “The Toy Soldier”

[BEGIN LOG]

Kilbride: Hello, SCP-8956-4. Or would you prefer I use your name?

TS: Oh, I Don’t Have A Name, Anything You Come Up With Is Gleaming with Me! My, My, What A Fancy Laboratory You Have Here!

Kilbride: Uhm, thank you? But what do your… cremates call you?

TS: Everyone Just Calls Me The Toy Soldier! And I Don’t Really Mind, I’m Just Chuffed To Be Involved!

Kilbride: I see.

TS: This Place Really Is The Bee’s Knees! Raphaella Has A Rather Similar Laboratory Back On Aurora.

Kilbride: yes, miss Rasputina told me about her.

TS: Ah, Hoofing Engineer, The Old Bean! The Ship Runs All Hunky-Dory When She’s Mending Her, Always Looks Utterly Chin-Strapped Though, Poor Thing.

Kilbride: She’s an engineer?

TS: Oh Yes, Proper Brains Up In Her Noggin!

Kilbride: I suppose that explains the technological skills she’s shown to possess. And what do you do?

TS: Whatever I’m Told To!

Kilbride: Yes, but what do you enjoy doing? For fun?

Ts: …I Don’t Believe I Follow.

Kilbride: It doesn’t matter, don’t worry.

[END LOG]

Interviewer’s note: SCP-8956-4 seems to have little knowledge of autonomy or free will, likely believing everyone around it is pretending to feel and live, just like the anomaly itself. After asking the other three 8956 anomalies, none of them could reliably provide information about SCP-8956-4’s origin and nature, citing it just does what its told and seems to enjoy doing so, none of which contradicts the behaviour observed from it so far.

SCP-8956-1 spent most of the days following Incident 02-A sulking in its cell, complaining about and cursing its incompetent crew for getting caught. The cells of SCP’s 8956-1, 8956-2, and 8956-3 share walls, and so the three anomalies spent a large amount of time singing together, with SCP-8956-1 singing the loudest.

Assistant researcher David Peters once again identified the music as versions of various folk songs, and after SCP-8956-3 requested a viola be added to its cell, Dr. Kilbride agreed, citing its calmer track record as a reason it could be safe. The few minutes when the viola was being brought were largely filled with SCP-8956-1 cursing at SCP-8956-3 for being allowed to have an instrument.

SCP-8956-3 proved to be quite talented at the viola, providing background music for SCP 8956-1 and 8956-2’s singing.

Experiment 05.

Date: 24/11/2013

Durations: 1- 38 minutes; 2- 26 minutes; 3- 3 minutes; 4- 16 minutes

Each 8956 SCP was given a randomly scrambled Rubix cube to solve.

SCP-8956-1 spent several minutes genuinely trying, though later resorted to biting it, kicking it, throwing it against the walls, and the experiment had to be cut short when it attempted to smash the puzzle with its chair.

SCP-8956-2 first just stared at it, its expression unwavering as it seemed to analyze the problem. After 26 minutes of scrambling and solving one side it gave up and requested that the test to be ended.

SCP-8956-3 seemed to already be familiar with the puzzle, sitting in its chair nonchalantly as it easily solved it in just over 3 minutes.

SCP-8956-4 first seemed quite confident in its ability to solve it, but after five minutes of failure began to panic slightly. The experiment had to be cut short 16 minutes in due to SCP-8956-4 spiraling into an existential crisis due to being unable to follow the instructions given to it.

All anomalies showed an ability to problem solve to some degree, even if in some cases this solution was more violent than in others.

Incident 03-A:

On 27/11/2013 at 05:15 a large hole was found in the wall connecting the cells of SCP 8956-1, 8956-2, and 8956-3’s cells. The cell containing SCP-8956-4 was also found empty, the lock hacked into and opened.

Security cameras showed that some sort of high explosive was detonated at around midnight, destroying the wall. One camera remained on throughout the escape, showing a large starship picking the anomalies up. Any researchers or officers who tried to intercept the escape were killed on sight, either by SCP-8956-1’s six shooters, one of the other unknown anomalies, or by SCP-8956-4, which was instructed to violently hold off SCP staff.

None of the anomalies have been seen since Incident 03-A.

END OF ARTICLE

1; the cause of this was never discovered.

2; it is unknown whether SCP-8956-4 is actually conscious in general or whether it only pretends to be.

Notes:

i've only just gotten into SCP so sorry if some of the details are a bit off. If there's anything i missed in the content warnings please let me know and i'll add it, thank you :)
