Chapter Text
Dana was not expecting to use part of her days off today, but here we are. Bill, her older brother, called that morning in a rush. He had to make a sudden trip to Washington DC in an important working meeting, but Margaret was not available and Tara had to take care of a very important event in her volunteering group, so he wanted to travel with the kids so Dana could take care of them while he was working. Usually Dana would have said no, but she has missed so much of her nephew and niece’s lives that she was willing to make an exception. Luckily, there was not active X file case she was working on, so it was the perfect time for her to help her brother.
“This is Agent Dana Scully to talk with Assistant Director Skinner, please.” Dana walked around, organising her flat while waiting on the phone.
“Yes, hello Skinner… This is Agent Scully.”
“No, everything is fine. I just called to formally request some days off. You should have the paperwork already in the program.”
“Yes, all good, I just need to take care of some family matter…”
“Perfect, thank you so much… Yes, only this week, I will be back next Monday.”
“No, it is fine, I was going to call Agent Mulder now to let him know.”
“Ok, have a nice day.”
Dana hung out and immediately called Mulder. It was a Saturday so, in the same way as Skinner, she expected him to be at the office.
“Mulder? It’s me, Scully.”
“Yes, I am at home… I know it is a Saturday, that is why I called you to the office.”
“Yes, I miss you every day.” Danna rolled her eyes. “But I wanted to call you because… Mulder, what is that in the background?”
“I do not recognise that title from your VHS catalogue… Yes, they fell over me like a month ago so I reorganised them.” Dana smiled. “I might tell you which one was my favourite if you listen to me for a second.”
“Yes, so I am not going to the office on Monday.” Dana licked her lips. “No, everything is fine. My brother called and he needs a favour. I will be taking care of Matthew and Melissa this week.”
“I wish, but my mum cannot travel right now and Tara is busy with some event in San Diego.” Data was walking around her living room, no longer tidying up. “So, I am stuck with the kids.”
“No, no need. I don’t want you to use your days off to help me babysitting.”
“Despite how good that sounds, the week will just pretty much consist in taking care of one kid and one baby, so hardly a sex vacation.” Dana rolled her eyes again, but she was smiling.
“Ok, I expect you to tell me everything once I come back. And take care, I do not want the first thing to do when I am back to be writing your obituary.”
“Yes, I will make sure to include that in my notes. See you next Monday, Mulder. Bye.”
Dana finished organising the living room, which was the only part of the house a bit messy, before her brother called again. Him and the kids would arrive to D.C. the following day, Sunday, at 1400.
