Chapter Text
About 20 minutes had passed since Serizawa walked out of a bar both him and Reigen were drinking at, his eyebrows furrowed as a large gust of wind caught him by surprise. It began to snow, his eyes widened before he began sprinting to the nearest station.
He had finally reached his destination only to see something speed past his eyes. It was the last train for the night and he just missed it. He let out a defeated sigh sitting himself down on a nearby bench. Snow landed on his black hair. His cheeks and nose began to flush a bright red from how cold it was .
10 minutes would pass and he felt as if the coldness was getting much worse, he rubbed his arms together to try and create friction to warm himself up.
He stood up before taking notice of a tiny convenience store that seemed to be open. How did he not notice it before? Hopefully he would be able to find some comfort in there, right?
He walked inside and was hit with warm air, he hummed taking it all in, his hands slowly defrosting turning from a light red back to its original pigment. The female cashier raised a brow before turning back to look at the newspaper in front of her.
After taking his precious time soaking in the warmth that was inside the convenience store, he realized it was probably about time to leave. He took notice of the cashier giving him dirty looks for some odd reason, something he most definitely took to heart.
Serizawa placed a bag of chips and a cup of hot chocolate on the counter paying for the items and walking out of the store. The minute he walked back outside cold air smacked in the face just like it did earlier.
“ Maybe Reigen would let me stay at his for a bit..” Why didn’t he think of that in the first place! He took out his phone heading straight to his bosses contact.
….
No answer, perhaps he was asleep? Serizawa sighed then-
MRREOOWW
“What was that?” He thought to himself, the sound got louder as he inched towards a dark alleyway. He hesitated, peeked his head around the corner then spotting a fluffy orange object shaking and crying surrounded by other furry objects pushed into a corner.
He raised a brow before slowly beginning to realize that those little furry objects were instead cats. They cornered a orange one, seemingly bullying it. Serizawa rushed into action causing the cats surrounding the orange one to flee from the sound of his loud footsteps.
The orange cat looked up at Serizawa its eyes gleaming from the moonlight behind him. It ran to Serizawa rubbing itself against him. Serizawa smiled to himself letting the cat sniff his hand. “You’re pretty friendly,” Serizawa put out his hands allowing the cat to crawl ontop of it. “do you have an owner?”
Serizawa lifts the cat’s head up slightly only to find.. nothing. This cat didn’t have an owner and for some reason, didn’t seem to have any fleas or cuts on it. Normally strays would, but this one didn’t.
The cat was obviously well.. orange, its stomach was a lighter shade while its back had a dark stripes like a tiger. It reminded Serizawa of Reigen a bit, although that sounded a bit weird to him. His boss hated cats anyways.
The cat looked young, but not young enough to be considered a kitten. It was shaking from the cold, Serizawa quickly realizing this allowed the cat to climb into a pocket inside of his jacket.
“Well, I might have to consider walking home. The train isnt coming until 6AM which is..” He twists his wrist taking a quick look at his watch which read 11:26. “..about 7 hours.” He groaned looking down at the cat who stared at him so helplessly. He took a sip from the remainder of his hot chocolate before beginning his journey home.
a couple hours before
“Fuck im so stupid, I shouldn’t of done that..” Reigen cursed. He began to walk towards his apartment complex. Only just a couple minutes before he tried flirting with Serizawa; which failed miserably and he only ended up embarrassing himself. Serizawa didn’t even know he was flirting with him either.
Reigen ran his hand through his hair letting out an exhale before looking up only to see something floating towards him. Of course his first thought was “That stupid fart cloud what does he want now?”. Until he realized it was not his dear friend Dimple, and was instead another spirit. An evil one.
We all know Reigen doesn’t have any powers so what the fuck was he supposed to do in this situation? Try to throw salt at it in attempt to divert its attention so he could run? He couldn’t call Shigeo because well.. look at the time. Serizawa is probably mad at him(or embarrassed for him), and since all options suck, it now means that he’s royally fucked.
He opened his eyes letting out a yawn, he then noticed he was in the middle of a parking lot. He felt a bit different. He feels something new attached to his lower back, he sits up. How did he get shorter in such a small time period?
How and why is he laying in the middle of his apartments parking lot? Oh yeah, now he remembers. A creepy spirit flew at him and he knocked out.
He turns his head to see a tail, a orange tail with dark stripes. His eyes widen as he lets out a scream only to hear a loud “ MRRREOW ”.
That only freaked him out more.
He stands up and sees that he is standing on all fours and now has paws, he has turned into a fucking cat.
His human clothing sit bundled up under him, his phone begins to buzz causing him to jump from shock his tail tucking into his stomach. He looked over the electronic, Serizawa was calling him but why? To check up on him? Its not like he can pick up considering the fact hes turned into a cat, he decides to run to the train station Serizawa was heading to earlier, praying the man would still be there.
the present
After about two hours Serizawa would finally reach his house. He took out his keys opening the door, taking the cat;now known as reigen, he had found out of his jackets pocket placing him on the hard wood floor.
Serizawa flicked on a light, there were tons of figures displayed on shelves. New pots of plants sat on the base of windows that were scattered around the house. Reigen had suggested about a week ago that Serizawa should take care of plants to pass time. The fact he actually listened to him made Reigens heart melt a bit.
“Im going to make something, explore the house.” Serizawa pet Reigens head before walking towards the kitchen area.
Reigen hadn’t been to Serizawas house in about a month, but everything looked basically the same from when he last came by.(Aside from the plants.) He jumped ontop of the sofa and licked himself clean which he unconsciously began doing. He quickly snapped out of it. He wasn’t a cat, he was a human trapped inside one.
Serizawa soon after sat down beside Reigens cat self, petting the top of his head before taking hold of his chopsticks slurping some ramen from a bowl.
The spicy smell intrigued Reigen, he perked his head up sniffing the air walking towards Serizawas bowl. “Ah, ah, ah.. Cats cant eat this type of stuff.” Serizawa would chuckle pulling the bowl away from Reigen tapping his now dark pink nose.
“Are you hungry little kitty?” Serizawa placed the bowl down on top of a coffee table in-front of them. Serizawa pulled out a can of tuna from his pocket, how long had he had that in there for? “Don’t give me that look.” Serizawa smirked. “I brung it over here just now.”
His stomach growled loud enough to where Serizawa could hear. “Ah you are. Eat up!” He popped open the can and placed it right in front of Reigen. Reigen quickly dived into the can eating his now little heart away. Serizawa let out a giggle continuing to slurp on his noodles.
Soon enough Reigen would lay in bed with Serizawa. As much as he wished he was sleeping with Serizawa as a human, he was still stuck in this dreaded cat body.
Serizawa had a concerned look displayed on his face as he scrolled through his phone. He was texting someone, Reigen felt a pit beginning to grow in his stomach. Who was Serizawa texting especially at this hour?
“He isn’t even answering me, you think he’s upset I left him?” Serizawa rubbed his face with his hands placing his phone on the nightstand nearby.
“ Who are you talking about?” Reigen wanted to reply but instead a meow would come out of his mouth.
“He really knows how to treat people like shit, especially the people closest to him. Serizawas eyebrows furrow. “You kind of remind me of him, your eyes are just like his. Its a bit creepy.” Serizawa picked up Reigen placing him on his chest, scratching his chin then moving his hand up behind his ear. “I haven’t given you a name yet.”
Serizawa thought to himself running a hand through his hair. “Yknow what i’ll name you Arataka, since you remind me so much of him.” Now that was the last thing Reigen would have ever expected.
Reigen felt much more guilty for something he isn’t even able to control as of this moment, how long would he stay a cat for? A week? A month? Forever?!
“We better get to sleep, hm, arataka?” Reigen purred inching towards Serizawas neck letting himself curl next to him. It was warm, and Reigen loved that. He could smell Serizawas vanilla shampoo; which smelt amazing might he add.
His eyes would shut before being slowly drifted off to sleep, the sound of Serizawas breathes accompanying him as he did so.
Ofcourse the next day arrived, Reigens eyes shot open as a ring of an alarm clock shot through his ears. Considering how much his hearing had increased he was most definitely awake now. Serizawa sat up reaching his hand out to turn off his alarm. Reigen watched the man in front of him take a deep breath. He rised up from his bed before stretching his back.
He meowed alerting Serizawa that he was awake aswell. “Goodmorning, Arataka.” Serizawa mumbled in a voice much deeper than how it normally was.
“Holy shit.” Reigen thought to himself, he felt as if his name rolled perfectly off the other mans lips. He had dreamed of waking up next to Serizawa, even under the circumstances hes pretty grateful hes under. Serizawa walked into the other room most likely getting ready for the day ahead of him.
Reigen slowly realized that he wouldn’t even be in the office because of.. well, his situation. Might as well appreciate the day off right? He rolled around in the bedsheets that still had the warmth Serizawa had left.
He crawled under the covers in seek of more. His head popping out of the covers once he reached the end. Maybe being a cat for the rest of his life wouldn’t be so bad.
