   Summary

   Connor's been sent (by Cyberlife naturally) to do a hostage negotiation. This is his first assignment where a life has truly been on the line. The stakes have never been higher.
   He expects to find begrudging cooperation at best. Words about teamwork and partnership spoken in anger and through gritted teeth.
   The first human to speak to him who doesn't work for Cyberlife's watchful eyes is kinder than he could have imagined.

   Detective Anderson smiles at him warmly. Almost as though they're proud of him for saving an ultimately meaningless fish.

   "Good idea. Today's been bad enough for that kid. Best she doesn't have to grieve the loss of her family's fish on top of everything else that's happened today."

   Just your average meet cute at a hostage situation. (I've referenced the night that Ainsel and Connor met so often I figured I should actually just write the fic so as to iron out the full details of that.) Might do Partners after this. I guess we'll see.
