Chapter Text

Hello and thank you for clicking on this story!

Firstly, I would like to say that this is purely based off of their online personas and is not meant to offend the actual people. This work and all other works of mine will immediately be removed if Sykkuno or Corpse say that they are uncomfortable with such stuff written about them. Also, some characters in here are written to be negative but do not perceive any of the real people like that! This is a work of fiction and all the people in here aren’t to be perceived as they are in the work. They’re amazing and do NOT send hate to them.

Secondly, this is sci-fi. Which means that this is not realistic at all to how actual astronauts move about in space or how any of this stuff works in real life. This is also set in the far future where a lot of newer things are known. 

And last but not least, English isn’t my first language so a lot of things might not make sense and I am very sorry about that. 

Also my other works “Broken Shadows” and “Turn It Down” will be continued and hopefully finished in this year. (It’s 2025!)

Chapter Text

“ This is your NASA guidance assistant speaking. Everyone will be boarded onto Skeld in a few minutes. Exchange introductions and greetings. Do your tasks and most importantly be careful. We unfortunately can’t guarantee complete safety so in order to assure as much comfort as we can, go through the spacecraft cautiously. Good luck, crew 17.” A robotic voice said steadily through the giant speakers of the space station.

The short crewmate looked around the station. It was occupied with about fifteen different people wearing different coloured spacesuits. He, himself was wearing a darkish pigmented and cool shade of green. Observing the members once again, there was someone in cyan pretty close to him, someone in red whom looked to be a girl. There was someone in pink who also appeared to be a girl. Someone weirdly tall in black. Someone in a light green. And many more people he was too tired to acknowledge.

He just wanted to board the spacecraft and take a nap. The brunette couldn’t even rub his eyes because of the spacesuit. The astronaut blearily blinked as he saw the girl in red approach him. She looked friendly as she smiled at him before reaching her gloved hand out. “Hello! Nice to meet you. My name is Rachell but you can just call me Rae or Valkyrae! What about you?” She was still very energetic even after the long journey through the space station and he admired it before smiling and shaking her hand. “My name’s Sykkuno, it’s an honour meeting you. I hope to be a nice crew member to you.” The brunette said while dipping his head slightly down in a mini bow.

Rae chuckled before smiling again and introducing him to the rest of the members. “Okay so, this is Toast. Toast, this is Sykkuno, shake hands or something.” Sykkuno looked at the cyan astronaut. He gave a nod of approval which Sykkuno smiled at. The red space-suited woman dragged him across the station before saying, “Sykkuno, this is Tina. Tina, this is Sykkuno.” He examined the girl before smiling and reaching his hand out. “Nice meeting you, Tina.” Too which she exchanged hands and replied. “You too, Kkuno!” He giggled at the nickname before he looked over at Rae.

The female brunette smiled before dragging him a little towards the man in the navy blue suit. “Okay, Sykkuno, this is Sean but you can call him Jack. Jack, this is Sykkuno.” And that’s just about how most of the introductions went. There was a girl named Miyoung in a rose coloured spacesuit. A guy named Ludwig in a white spacesuit. A non binary fellow named Bretman in grey. Someone named Dream in lime. A girl named Leslie in a pale yellow spacesuit. A guy named 5up in a more bright yellow spacesuit. A guy named Michael in purple who also had a girlfriend named Lily who was coral. Also a guy named Karl in brown. And last but not least, the absurdly tall guy in the black spacesuit was called Corpse.

His head was throbbing from all of this sudden intake of information but fortunately by the time all fifteen of the crew members had greeted each other, the Skeld spacecraft had arrived. As the large group walked through the ginormous gate to the aircraft. Sykkuno peered through each and every room on the ship before he unloaded his supplies onto one of the beds in the medbay.

All of the crew members were allowed to bring a small backpack with items but of course, in space it had a weight limit. You couldn’t bring necessities because NASA would have all of those supplied in the individual rooms for legal reasons. The astronaut didn’t bring much, a mere plushie, one or two books because more would be too heavy, a few pictures, stickers, his spare game offline console and a camera. That was about it. You would get your clipboard full of tasks in the space station so no need to worry about that either. The mission for their crew currently was to navigate deep space and get information about the planet Polus. It was a two and a half year long mission with how deep into space Polus was so the crew had plenty of tasks and plenty of time to complete them.

The brunette put his clipboard into the mini green backpack before getting the plushie out. It was a cat plushie which he got gifted back when he first joined NASA, now he’s a qualified astronaut and on a spacecraft and mission! How cool is that! Alas, he didn’t have energy to dwell on excitement so he took the plushie and sat down on the bed.

The green astronaut took off his helmet and put it on the bed with his bag on it. He laid back down on his bed, settling the pillow beneath his head before relaxing in comfort. His eyelids closed instantly as he fell asleep...

The brunette’s ears filled with chatter which seemed so close yet so far. He sniffled before bringing his hands up and wiping his eyes slightly.  His vision blurred in colours before he noticed four people sitting on the bed right next to his. Sitting up and bringing his thighs to his chest he looked at them with a hazy sight.

The young astronaut just now realised that there was a blanket draped over him which wasn’t previously there as he settled his plushies on the bed above the fluffy blanket.

“Oh Sykkuno! You finally woke up! We were simply talking to get to know each other better, I think everyone else is doing tasks or something. Anyways want to get up? You can brush your teeth over there.” The red crew member said genuinely with a smile as she pointed over to the sink next to the vent on the left side of the room. “And don’t worry, we all have tooth brushes with our colours and initials so you don’t have to worry about forgetting your toothbrush or something.” She said with a small shrug as the woman next to her giggled. He recognised them to be Rae, Miyoung, Toast and Corpse.

The rose coloured astronaut gave a small wave to him, he drowsily smiled back as he noticed the bright teal and ebony astronauts beside them. The brunette in the sapphire spacesuit gave a small tug of his lips whilst the raven in the pitch-dark suit barely even acknowledged him. He didn’t look like it was on purpose or rude, the man just looked zoned out. Come to think of it, he hadn’t heard the curly dark haired man’s voice yet, Sykkuno simply shrugged it off as he nodded at Rae before making his way over to the sinks.

He carefully avoided the average sized vents before turning the tap on to rinse his face. The chatter had started again with it mainly being a conversation between the two females and Toast occasionally adding a few words. The green crew-mate picked out the toothbrush with the same colour as his suit and his initials carved along the back of it as he put it under the water, squeezed some toothpaste on and wet it again before plopping it into his mouth.

A few minutes of eavesdropping as he brushed his teeth and tongue clean before he rinsed off his toothbrush and cleaned his mouth. The brunette sat back down on the bed he previously slept on with a minty mouth as he listened into the conversation as Rachell talked about her life previous to NASA and how she got in.

It was interesting really, and also really cool how she managed to explain it all without exposing too much of her personal life. Not that it’d matter anyway, no one could really dox her in the abyss. But still a reasonably cool thing.

The brunette was still pretty tired as he sleepily blinked and observed the medbay room. There were three beds each throughout the room, six in total. At the far end of the room there appeared to be scanner, he saw it mentioned in the clipboard tasks so that’s something to keep in mind.

He heard his name being called as he blinked for a few seconds before mumbling, “Yes?” The red suited girl quickly replied, “We were thinking of playing two truths one lie to get to know each other better l, you up for it?” She said without missing a beat before Miyoung added, “We were originally gonna play truth or dare but we don’t know each other too well yet so we can play that sometime in the future.” The sleepy brunette tilted his head in thought before saying, “Okay sure! I’ll play it.”

His eyes wandered over to the tall ebony suited man who seemed to no longer be zoned out as the pale man stared between the three crew-mates next to him. “Can I go first?” Corpse muttered, almost like it was to himself but everyone in the room could hear him including Sykkuno. The brunette thought dumbly about how soothing the man’s voice is, deep yet silky, sort of... Comforting, in a way. He shook his thoughts away as he heard Rae enthusiastically agree to the idea as the black haired crew member brainstormed for ideas before one end of his lips tugged up into a small smile.

“Okay, I think I have something. My favourite colour is red, my eyes are green and I dropped out of seventh grade.” The crews faces immediately got filled with immense shock and confusion. “Yeah, Corpse, you’re gonna have to make it harder than that. It’s... uhm.. Of course the grade thing. That’s the lie, duh.” The red suited brunette said with confidence yet hesitance before Toast retorted, “His eyes are black, Rae.”

“I.. Goddamn dude, how did you even get into NASA then?” Valkyrae asked in confusion as the rose coloured astronaut giggled. “I dunno man. Don’t underestimate my abilities.” The deep voiced man said dramatically as the group erupted in laughter.

They took turns with most people saying basic stuff like their age or background. It was fun but of course they had to separate to do the stuff they were required to do.

First task :

Wires.

Chapter Text

It’s been a couple of days in the aircraft.

The time spent here so far has been pretty pleasant if he had to say so himself. A bunch of connecting of electric wires. Communicating with a few of the other astronauts. As the brunette tried his best to be as comfortable as he could on the spaceship.

Sykkuno carefully swiped the card against the scanner as gently as his shaky hands would allow him. His mouth tugged down in a frown as he heard the incorrect beep filtering through the machine. He sighed as he adjusted his helmet before putting the card back into it’s respective, neat holder.

The young male heard a few thumps of footsteps before noticing the inky crew member walking towards him. Sykkuno bowed his head down slightly as he waved and softly spoke, “Hello mister Corpse.” A small smile tugged at the taller man’s lips whilst waving back. “Don’t bother with bowing, you’re older than me anyway.”

The brunette tipped his head up and gazed at Corpse’s pitch black irises. “Sorry, I can’t recall telling you that.” Sykkuno says tilting his head as he glances at the wall, confused. “Oh yeah, Rachel told me about your age. You’re 26 right? I’m 22.” The deep voiced man chuckled as the brunette lets out a prolonged ‘ohh’ sound in understanding.

He had told Rae that after all. They were chatting during their lunch break as they stuffed their faces with artificial tasting sandwiches and small warm pizza slices. Mindless chatter went back and forth between them as they discussed random topics which peered into their minds. Rae was really nice to talk to indeed. The brunette looked down at his shaky hands, he must’ve been feeling at least a little weird. He looked back up at Corpse’s black helmet before saying, “I should probably go now, my hands are shaking and I can’t seem to get the card swipe thingy right.” Sykkuno said as he smiled ever so slightly whilst fidgeting with his leaf coloured gloves. Corpse responded politely with, “Oh of course, go ahead. You should probably like take a nap or some shit if you’re shaking. I’ll see you then Sykkuno.”

The raven said before smiling warmly at him and patting him on the top of his metallic like helmet. He watched as the ink coloured crew-mate strided towards the card swiper. Smiling back happily, Sykkuno waltzed out of the admin room and stepped towards the medbay once again.

He didn’t lay down this time, he would be back to normal sooner than later anyway. His fingers had a tendency to shake constantly as he had a condition known as essential tremor which makes any part of his body shake when doing simple tasks, it mostly happens in the hands and he has gotten used to it.

The condition started when he was around ten, passed down from his mom’s sister who had also gotten diagnosed with it in her childhood. There’s no known cure for it so he uses fidget toys like stress-balls when it occurs. It hadn’t been part of his own personal baggage because it was for a medical condition so it was handled by the company.

I squished the stress ball as I breathed lightly, my heartbeat quickening as I tried to calm everything down. I heard a soft squeak of a door as I looked at the medbay’s entrance. There stood Toast as he gazed at me with curiosity. “What’re you doing, Sykkuno?”

I replied nervously, “Oh hey Toast! It’s just a little complicated and I don’t want to explain it right now.. So, how are you?” I asked while shoving the squishy ball back into my bag. The cyan astronaut seemed to be slightly conflicted before nodding,

“Sure, why not.”
