Mother

Summary:

The Fifth Doctor tries to remember his mother, cannot, and speculates a bit.

Notes:

In the TV episode "The Timeless Children,' the Master shows the 13th Doctor some hard truths about her mother, and about herself, and while the Fifth has not yet experienced that revelation, he certainly has experienced the traumas and identities that would later be revealed in "The Timeless Children. Inevitably, his subconscious must still affected by those truths, whether or not he knows them (yet) on a conscious level.

Work Text:

I dreamt about my mother.

When I try to remember my mother, I almost can….

In the dream, I remembered, but now I can't remember the dream.

When Nyssa speaks fondly of her stepmother, when Tegan complains about her mum, I feel such sadness, such longing, but for what?

Nyssa asked me if I'd even recognize my mother, or she me, because we've regenerated. I wonder! Have my mother and I unknowingly crossed paths? Could she know me without my knowing her?

When I imagine meeting her but remaining unacknowledged, I'm unsure whether what I feel is comfort or dread.
