Luke Is a Weird Child

Summary:

But Luke was too preoccupied with his dagobah strip. He glanced between the thin stalk and his nose, and then, before anyone could stop him, he slowly moved the asparagus closer to his face, aiming it straight at the entrance of his nose.

Work Text:

The Skywalker family sat around the dinner table in their villa, the soft hum of the Coruscant skyline filling the background as they enjoyed a quiet meal together. Anakin was cutting into his nerf steak, savoring the rich flavor, while Padmé delicately speared a piece of a dagobah strip with her fork. Leia was happily eating her mashed potatoes, her attention focused on her plate as she hummed contentedly.

But Luke, ever the curious one, wasn't quite as engaged with his food. Instead, he was fixated on the strip of dagobah on his plate. The long, thin spears of the vegetable caught his eye, and soon, they were the only thing that seemed to matter. He picked up one of the pieces and held it in front of him, his gaze studying it intently.

Padmé caught a glimpse of her son’s curious expression and sighed. "Luke," she began gently, her voice warm but knowing, "please eat your vegetables, sweetheart."

But Luke was too preoccupied with the dagobah strip. He glanced between the thin stalk and his nose, and then, before anyone could stop him, he slowly moved the dagobah closer to his face, aiming it straight at the entrance of his nose.

"Luke, no." Anakin's voice was firm, though it held an amused edge as he glanced up from his meal.

Luke froze mid-move, the dagobah strip just an inch away from his nose. His eyes widened slightly as he realized he'd been caught. He slowly withdrew the vegetable, looking sheepish.

Leia, who had been silently watching her brother's antics, burst into giggles. "You were going to put that up your nose, weren’t you?" she teased.

Luke, embarrassed, set the dagobah strip back on his plate and pouted. "I wasn’t! I was just... seeing if it would fit."

Padmé couldn't help but laugh softly, shaking her head. "You and your experiments, Luke." She reached out and gently patted his hand. "Please, just eat it like a normal person."

Anakin chuckled, watching his son with amusement. "Maybe we need to get you a proper lab to test these things out," he teased, before taking another bite of his steak. "But for now, let’s stick to eating with your mouth, alright?"

Luke nodded, looking slightly defeated, but with a small smile on his face. He picked up another piece of dagobah, this time holding it properly and taking a bite.

"It’s just a matter of time before he sticks it in his ear, too."

"Anakin don't encourage him!"

Notes:

Luke would 100% do this you can't convince me otherwise
