Work Text:
We’re the tear in each other’s hearts:
Like thunder and lightning striking through storm
As our ship creaks and groans
Ruthless waves crash while I struggle to chart
A course back to where it all went wrong.
Wild winds howl; we thoughtlessly scream,
Deaf to each other’s fears,
Blinded by too many tears,
To see clearly what we held so dear.
Now I wonder… was it all a dream?
We once spoke of forever; a paradise
We once built on a golden beach,
A sandcastle, unfortunately washed away by
Regret and resentment; peace out of reach;
Our dream crumbled by the sea of our hubris.
I can’t decide whether or not I should be grateful –
Grateful for this Leviathan who’ll hopefully
Swallow us whole, into an abyss;
This place devoid of pain, devoid of bliss,
In a silent graveyard at a final sunset.
