“Your eyes…”
Kuzuha glances up from his meal, chopsticks hanging above a particularly delicious cut of meat. Practically raw, just as he liked it.
Kanae was midway through taking off another piece of meat off the grill when his odd exclamation broke their comfortable silence.“What about them?” Kuzuha prompted him when he noticed the way Kanae trailed off, eyes falling demurely from his face towards the table and onto the meat sizzling away between them.
The noise of the restaurant fading into the background. Even in the yawning silence, there was a warmth- the metaphorical kind unrelated to the grill- in the space between them
Kanae’s brows furrowed, “Sorry, it’s too random to suddenly bring up.”It wasn’t like Kanae to suddenly blurt out a comment and then take it back. Kuzuha couldn’t help but be curious, “Random is fine. Go ahead and ask whatever it was you wanted.”
The human’s eyes lifted again, making eye contact through his lashes shyly. The expression perplexed Kuzuha momentarily, until the following words contextualised it, “I was going to ask why your eyes are… um… why they have hearts in them?”
